Francis Van-Lare, the father-in-law of the late US-based Nigerian doctor, Dr. Ikenna Erinne, has shed light on the reason for the hefty child .

In a Facebook post, Van-Lare dismissed allegations against his late son-in-law while clarifying the reasons behind the $15,000 child order imposed on him.

This came amid the backlash trailing the Van-Lare family, suggesting that the hefty child triggered the reaction which led to the doctor’s suicide.

“To set records straight, Dr. Ikenna Erinne’s license was never revoked. He had active licenses in Illinois, New York, Virginia, and Maryland. One state cannot revoke all licenses at once, and none were revoked,” Van-Lare stated.

Addressing the hefty child payment, he explained that the sum was determined due to the special care required for Erinne’s physically challenged son.

“The child was set that much because he has a physically challenged son needing special care from different medical facilities, plus attending a special needs school that costs money. Courts consider the income of both parents before making decisions,” he added.

Van-Lare expressed his disappointment over Erinne’s actions, stating, “He is not a victim but failed his son and daughter, who are now left without their father. I just thank God he did not shoot my daughter and grandchildren in his madness.”

Questioning the rationale behind taking one’s own life over financial obligations, he added, “Which sane person takes his own life over money he is supposed to use to his children? He was asked to pay child , not alimony or spousal , as my daughter is self-sufficient.”

Despite his critical remarks, Van-Lare extended his condolences. “May his soul rest in peace regardless. My family will raise the children without him.”

Her father read the comments of Nigerian men slamming her daughter and he had to come out to set the records straight.

I don’t want to speculate on whether $15,000 was outrageous or not because I don’t have all the information, but any man who pays child should make 100% decision of what school his children go to, and what events and activities they’re enrolled in that cost money. That’s what every provider who is with their children do. That decision should not be made by the woman and forced on the man by the court. If the wife doesn’t agree, she can get a job and augment. The child belongs to the man too and he wants the best for them.

I know litigation costs a lot of money, but he could’ve appealed the decision rather than take the suicide route.

Update: I see some people think the family will be broke because of his exit, but that’s not usually the case, probably most men at his career level have insurance policies worth millions, often facilitated through their workplaces and/or private insurance, so the family should be fine financially.

Also for educational purposes, many/most life insurance policies in the US cover suicide with an exclusion period, usually within the first year or two, which means after one or two years, suicide is covered

Now that the young man is dead, will the wife not still take care of that medically challenged child and the others?

The husband is a medical doctor who's well aware of what it costs to take care of his children monthly. Would he have gone berserk if he felt the $15,000 was justified?

See Man's insensitivity to another man's plight/death

Dr. Ikenna married to the worst family in the world.

I just wonder how the friends couldnt rally round and help him get stable mentally at his darkest moment

Philosopher Seneca said "Death is the wish of some, the relief of many, and the end of all. It sets the slave at liberty, carries the banished man home, and places all mortals on the same level, insomuch that life itself were a punishment without it"

We can all say he shouldn't have taken his life.
However, it is spoiled and insensitive person that expects a man to.provide 15000 dollars monthly for upkeep of any child.

Now that he's gone, maybe the state would produce 15k monthly.

Let's see.

The reason given is understandable, but I believe both him and his ex wife could've come to an agreeable amount.

The reason is not understandable.

It is a huge weight that rests on the shoulders of the "breadwinner", from a position of entitlement and inconsideration.

Now that he's gone, I'm sure the parties that thought it reasonable can produce the same output.

Bad Father in-law. If he had inteveyed properly,it won't have degenerated to this. Now, with this stupid man reaction after the man commited suicide, it's obvious, this stupid man contributed to the frustration of the young man. God will judge this man

Entitlement? Have you consider the medical condition of the child Medication bills, feeding What of if the mom is unable to work due to the child condition undecided don't forget that a 2nd child is there too.
Welfare will be made available to her.

If he was a poor man, who would shoulder the responsibility?

Now that he is unavailable, let the world handle it.

I really don't understand how difficult this is.

The father-in-law is very stupid for making such insensitive comments.

You did not know that the doctor was mentally unstable when you dragged him to court for monthly $15k.

Useless man.

I think he deserves to be insensitive considering that the Dr. Ikenna held his ex-wife, nanny and his own children at gun point. He shot himself when police showed up

They will actually get the money. Most people at his professional level have insurance policies worth millions so the family will be fine

U totally agree with the comment below me. If he had wanted to kill the wife even the father in law he would have done so.
This shows the father of the girl is not a true father he should be able to bring love back or try to give them a good relationship even i divorce.

Meaning he never wanted to harm them otherwise he would have shot them and still killed himself like suicide bombers or terrorists do when cornered.

In as much the man wanted to defend his daughter, but to me , he seems manipulative and sounds like a bully. This is the type of a father that will always interfere negatively to someone's marriage and give morale to the lady anytime she misbehave. The guy should have come back home instead of being a Lilly liver. He was likely bullied to depression. Child , no access to the kids, no access to her ex incase they want to make things up, every month, paying over 3k$ by my calculations there. Common..... American legal system is something else. The father was so lucky that the guy had a rethink not to wipe his kids and his wife in revenge before turning gun on himself. Will his writeup be the same?

Why was he asked to pay $15k per month? How much was his monthly salary? The guy should've challenged the case in court. Killing oneself due to court case is an act of cowardice.

One of the reasons why MEN DON'T CRY! Such insensitivity from Mr. Van-Lare.

To start with, Mr. Van-Lare does not have the moral right to speak about marriage or anything related to that. Check his antecedents on social media.

This is a man who publicly declared that he has slept with over 300 women and was proud enough to drop their photographs online without their consent.

Before you get married, WATCH THE FAMILY. A LION DOES NOT BIRTH A SNAKE.

Even after he took his life because of your daughter's greed, you are here talking trash.

I hate Women who are always using Children to punish their husbands. Devils!!!

"My daughter is self sufficient", "We will raise the children". Why didn't you opt for ADR and share the cost of raising the children since you lots are so wealthy?

Now he is dead and you are not sensible to stop this wokeness speech.

This man would probably be living and practicing if he hadn't married this witch.

Well, it's only a matter of time.
