The problem here is the employees and job seekers… stop showing desperation while on interview. Give them conditions as per why you will work for them. Give them reasons and make them understand that you might currently not have a job but you are not going to be overworked and paid peanuts.

Once Nigerians seeking for employment stop appearing desperate and know their worths , no private sector owner will treat you like shits, and also give them clauses that must be respected, if they go against it , it attracts additional charges per hour calculated by the number of days the contract got breached and sign it before accepting the job offer.

Do this and watch how careful your employers treat you. This is something every employee and job seekers must do to negotiate at least the price of one student’s school fees as salary. You can’t be accepting 100k naira as salary whereas students in that school pays above 500k as school fees..

If you must accept 100k a month, just tell them you will be teaching one class only and it will be once a week, maximum of 3hours.

Once you give your employer your power through desperation, even his dog becomes more valuable than you.

I built my self to where I am today, I don’t work for anyone, I told myself after seeing how employers treat their staffs that I won’t work for anyone while I was in Nigeria.

You've made valid points But no school in Nigeria will pay you 100k a month for once a week and 3 hour class. None. Not in Nigeria.

You have to be realistic. How much are bankers paid monthly? Most are going home with 250-300k monthly and they work 9-5 Monday to Friday.

Many reading this are also in that category, waiting for a miracle to happen someday.

I believe in miracle but you need to be smart too.

I have a friend who finds it difficult to feed the family after collecting salary as a private school teacher.

Guy is a guru in Physics, Chemistry, Maths, a grad from FUTA.

I had to charge him for a little consultancy.

I helped set up a YouTube channel for him, a Facebook for ads, and Instagram plus TikTok.

He will pick a topic in any subject, dissect it and booom we post.

Come and see how the followers grew.

Till he was able to secure a gig from a banker who is a busy woman. She needs a personal tutor for 3 kids. Niggar is getting steady N1.5M per term from this gig and others.

He's monetized his YT and other channels he earns ively.

Just be smart in this game called job, else you will find it hard to feed and live a better life.

I'll not teach all that even for 200k. If he's a smart teacher and can teach all that, he'll make 250k monthly working as a part time teacher in schools, private tutor and then for some tutorial centres

Wicked country.

As long as it is not soft money, they don't respect you. If it's not thieving money, they don't respect you. A very very corrupt, deteriorated, and cancerous country. Demonic country.

They are spoiling the Angels in the Igbo bloods.

I can’t be a teacher even if na me suffer pas for this country. I hate that lesson note aspect with ion. The pay is useless even with side hustle such as home lessons. That profession is too poverty stricken.

I don’t blame owners of schools, it is the desperation in the eyes of job seekers that make them take advantage due to the lack of jobs in the society and as a means to immediate gratification in sorting emergency bills.

The norm should be, teachers billing owners of before taking up any position. Because this is not just service but labour

Stop complaining. If not okay for you, then resign and leave the job.

Better still, go and start your own school.

I really won’t mind your consultation. But not under teaching though. Business related?

Standardization across board is what is lacking here. I know of someone who teaches english to SS1-SS3 and gets paid 25k presently. I'm this economy o. And this is someone who already has a master's degree.

I can't understand how people cope on such meagre salaries. That's not living. That's merely existing. Even 100k in this economy is nothing.
Most of them aren’t enlightened, they just stopped learning not knowing that the world has changed.

Better run away, private schools are dream killer. Many of the proprietors are spiritual in nature.
unfortunately, the useless government is not looking at that direction

God is my witness, that is what I went through. Most private schools are simply labour camps for teachers.
