A member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Musiliu Obanikoro, has strongly criticized the statement made by his colleague, Anthony Adefuye, expressing for the impeached Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa.

In the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, the highest decision-making body is the GAC.

The council was formed and headed by President Bola Tinubu, which consists of major stakeholders of the party within the state overseeing the affairs of the party. It takes major decisions such as mode of primaries, candidates of the party in elections and even the executives of the party.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Obasa (APC-Agege 1) was removed by lawmakers on January 13 over alleged misconduct and replaced by the then Deputy Speaker, Mrs. Mojisola Meranda.

Speaking publicly for the first time about his impeachment on Saturday, Obasa claimed that the process had not followed due procedure.

Addressing his ers in Ikeja, he asserted that he remained the Speaker of the House and would resume his legislative duties soon, while also denying the corruption allegations against him.

Adefuye, a member of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC), voiced his for the embattled former Speaker, agreeing with Obasa’s stance that his removal had been illegal.

In a recent interview, Adefuye remarked, “What he is saying is that he was illegally removed and the procedure was faulty and I agree with him.”

Reacting to Adefuye’s remarks, Obanikoro, a two-time minister, described the statement as reckless. He said, “The statement of Senator Adefuye on the removal of the former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, is very unfortunate, childish and inconsequential.”

Obanikoro continued, criticizing the timing and nature of Adefuye’s comments: “Senator Adefuye’s comment shouldn’t have come up. As leaders, if there are serious issues of this magnitude, rushing to make press statements or personal statements on such issues is unbecoming.”

The former ambassador added, “Since GAC as a unit has not made any pronouncement on the subject matter, it is irresponsible of any member of that privileged body to go public and make comments on an issue that is as sensitive as that,” Obanikoro said.

As a member of GAC himself, Obanikoro stressed the importance of respecting organizational hierarchy: “Moreover, our leader, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, waded in on the matter, so I believe nobody should come out individually to express an opinion based on privileged status,”
he said.

To the best of my knowledge fmr Senator Adefuye being an foundation member of the defunct AD, has more clout in APC than Obanikoro who has romanced the PDP before retracing his steps back to APC

As long as President Tinubu is alive Lagos APC will only rumble but will never stumble.

There are camps within the camp, this is not new in politics.

Obasa remains a force in Agege, PBAT will not allow him to be dragged in the mud

Mr obanikoro are you saying just because adefuye is a member of GAC, don't have constitutional rights of speech and expression again ? Is Lagos state house of assembly speaker seat obasa father's property?

Where is the illegality? Obasa should know better. You have corruption allegation against you instead of clearing your name you are shouting up and down illegality. Well I don't blame him, this is Nigeria

law number 5 of the art of war :
Avoid groupthink: Command-and-control
People naturally have their own agendas in the groups you lead.

If you’re too authoritarian, they will resent you, and if you’re too lax, they will revert to their own interests.

You need a chain of command where people buy into your vision and naturally follow your lead.

The overall strategic vision must come from you and you alone. But make the group feel involved in the decision-making. Take their good ideas, deflect the bad ones, and if necessary, make minor changes to appease the most political ones.

The Dangers of Groupthink
People in groups tend to act and speak conservatively because they’re all worried about what others think.
That’s not what you need. And that’s why you need unity of command (you).

Beware of Political Animals
Political animals are not only after themselves but also form factions to further their agendas and create their small fiefdoms of power.

You should avoid hiring these people in the first place.
Watch out for those who mirror your ideas 1:1; they’re probably trying to ingratiate you.
If it’s too late, isolate them

GAC is a looting vehicle
There's nothing like GAC in Nigeria, Lagos or APC constitution
It is a body that's alien to every legal governance or political framework known to Nigerian democracy
The constitution and operation of the body is not subject to any democratic principle
It is simply an umbrella of oligarchs to pose as democrats and preside over the affairs of Lagos state, the richest state in Nigeria for their own benefit and interest
Every political and governance office is able to them while they to no one
Yet youths who are supposed to be concerned about such dark lordship over their democratic affairs are even glorifying it

GAC is governance advisory council not governor's advisory council. If it was governor's, then it would have been under the governor.
But it is not, it is the council of cabal under Tinubu to ensure lackeys are all kept in check

Of course, the jẹunsoke magician will calm down the politicians, even though he has no clue how to calm down APC’s galloping inflation and unemployment that has increased poverty and misery.

Do you think that palliative bread with the risk of dying in stampedes, is what the masses deserve to calm down their ebiNpawa cries

Glimpsetv:
A large crowd of Lagosians was filmed in a long queue struggling to collect a loaf of bread. To maintain order, several military personnel were on the ground to control the crowd. This has triggered a lot of reactions online.
