President-elect Donald Trump was granted an unconditional discharge Friday following his conviction in the “hush money” case in New York. While this means Trump will face no punishment, he and his legal team have vowed to appeal the verdict.

With just 10 days until his inauguration as the 47th president of the United States, Trump addressed the court virtually from his Florida residence, maintaining his innocence.

What saved him is that he won the election. Judges are not stupid. You cannot jail a president-elect, unless you want to throw the country into chaos.

The same thing happens in Nigeria. Judges are too scared to annul presidential elections or reverse the decision of INEC. They always find ways to twist the law to anyone that INEC declared the winner.

The only time a presidential election was annuled in Nigeria, it took a general in power to do that. Nigeria's democracy is still growing and we may get there someday.
