Nice one governor but you want some of us to believe that some people want to punish these people. If there's no hardship it wouldn't have happened. Don't forget to arrest the parents of the children that released their children around 4am to attend the eventd. Let those who push them(the parents) to the wall with hardship to prosecuted also. Thanks 2 Likes 1 Share |

While I agree with the Governor, he should also tamper justice with mercy if at the end of the day, the NPF finishes their investigations a d find out that there was no foul play. This is an unfortunate incident that we don't pray to repeat itself. There is an unprecedented level of hunger in Nigeria, even the blind can see that. I think that if no foul play is dictated, they should be made to pay through their nose as compensation to the families that lost their kids. Nigerians love the fire brigade approach, instead of being proactive. We like to condemn things when it happens, but no one will try to put measures in place to forestall such from happening. 1 Like |

Yes they should face trial There's no witch hunt 35 children can't die out of stupidity, negligence, and deceit of some useless individuals looking for cheap popularity someone that can't feed 500 people, announcing thsr she wants to feed 5000 children If she really have the means to feed 5000 children she will not book such venue 3 Likes 1 Share |

Makinde is just playing to the gallery. The organizers got approval from his government, If the promoters are being held, there is no reason a commissioner that approved the event should not be held also.

You don't purnish a woman who is trying her best to alleviate the suffering of the masses by doing what the government couldn't do. What they government should do is create awareness of how to manage crowd to avoid stampede during sharing of palliative so that organisers can learn and implement these measures in case of next time. Sending her to jail will demoralize her and others who have the plans share palliative in the future.

phemmie06: Arrest the parents for what? What are you saying Ashimolowo did similar thing in liberty stadium early December, which was widely announced, did you hear of stampede It was planning and organisation If Theres no ulterior motives, you wont say you want to feed 5000 children and say you will do it in one day, and choose such venue 1 Like |

God1000: GSM is only bragging. The organizers didn't bring the people together to murder them. This is not a murder case. Did anyone see broken bottle or guns with either Olori or Hazmat? They brought them together to give them food. The judge would look at the intention of the organizers before he ed his judgement. An event meant for 5,000 turned to 15,000. Whose fault? Blame the economy. To me, GSM wouldn't get what he wants in the Court. |

phemmie06: You guys are just talking, nonsense what about Anambra that went muted but same Anambrans are here shouting thank you Makinde we like you but the one that happened in their state was swept under carpet pls what nonsense are all this? I'm very sure you are not even from SW but see as you carried the matter for head or you want to tell us na goats died in Anambra stampede? |

Government is negligent in this case. Is the Police saying that if Boko Haram wants to gather without announcement at a place, they won't respond quickly or how do they have resources when people want to protest ![]() Referencing Anambra and calling names is petty! VERY insensitive that the governor can compare two unfortunate incidents. Reminds me of how Femi Adesina used to justify the lower number of deaths under Buhari. It is also the way NL trolls do whataboutism. If the woman was still Ooni of Ife's wife, will the Governor talk this way? or if it happened, God forbid to Fresh FM he used as a reference im his first reaction, will he talk like this? Our leaders are very insensitive and act irresponsibly. Even the way Tinubu talked about the incident during presidential chat, you can see the way they play us like chess. How do we know that a false information by someone did not cause the incident? That's why it is difficult to just say the organizers caused the death. What were the investigations? The defendants should get a good lawyer because the Governor and Government have already taken sides! |

Is the government not guilty of any illegal gathering that we've seen recently? If the stampede had happened during these gathering organized by the government or during their useless rallies, will the government arrest itself or what? Whether we want to it it or not there's a political undertone in this case.

CSTRR: His responsibility is Oyo, not Anambra. He is the Governor of Oyo State, that is his business. Look who they are touting to be President, he's on a long thing. |

lereinter: So, if the announcement was to feed 100 instead of 5000 people and some people died, they shouldn't face trial? |

Factcheck0001: You voted Tinubu, which empowered him to also steal more votes from Rivers, Lagos and northern states via Yakubu. Tinubu is working with a stolen mandate. |
CSTRR: 11:48am On Jan 07 |
trium:And that is exactly what he is saying. He is saying don't paint him and soludo with the same brush. He will govern his own state with the rule of law. I have no problem with controversial statements as long as you are doing the right and just thing. Most of your politicians like wike are controversial while doing the wrong things. |

Factcheck0001:Are you aware that tinubu was not voted for in rivers state.? The people of the state voted for obi which wike later sold to tinubu in exchange for a soft landing. Remove Rivers State votes from tinubu's total votes and check the results again. And we are not even talking about a few states that were also sold in like manner. |

emkz: In his words “I want to make a heartfelt appeal to the government to reconsider this action. Acts of goodwill, even when they unintentionally result in unfortunate outcomes, should not be criminalised. This particular initiative was intended to alleviate suffering and bring relief to the people,” . What is wrong if someone appeals for someone to be released? Must you obi haters attack him for everything even when you know what he said is the right thing to do? Thousands of Boko Haram who kidnapped and killed people were rehabilitated and released back to the society we didn't hear any wailing from you APC paid urchins, what is the crime of that woman if I may ask what law did she breach ? From what I observe her only crime is leaving the ooni of ife , if she was still his wife we won't hear this 1 Like |

Nice one Mr Governor. People should be held responsible for their actions. Nigerians cannot keep dying with no repercussions. Anambra and FCT should follow suit. |

I think they are getting punished because of their real intentions and motives behind the activities. Why make donations public? Why not seek ways to collect s and send money to the underprivileged that they wanted to help. If VDM who collected over 180M for a cause didn’t allow his greed to take over, would that not have been a perfect of ways to donate to large numbers of people without gathering them together in a place. But most donors still want to capitalize on the glory that comes with public donations
