For a lady it is somewhat understandable since they run on emotions & are hardly logical. But to see a man going crazzy over a fellow male celebrity is something I can never understand. Such men deserve any treatment they get from celebrity to correct their head!

I see both online and offline how people freak out at the sight of a celebrity. Some even go as far as rushing or grabbing them.

I have never been to any show, let alone wanting to go up stage to grab a celebrity. I saw how a young man was kicked by Burna Boy and I felt really disgusted because such nonsense can never happen to me.

Early last year, I was on the 6th floor at BUA Group headquarters in Victoria Island where I saw Tekno and Davido sitting down at the reception having a chat, I just greeted them and sat down. I also saw how every other person on that floor was minding their business and don't really give a damn about their presence.

When I told a cousin how I feel weird on how people go crazy at the sight of these celebrities, he said it's not normal but I strongly disagree with him. I even told him how some staff at BUA Group didn't give a damn about Davido"s presence, he insisted that they are not also normal.

Do you guys here share my views, or do you think it's not normal?

This answers your question dude. Mind you, it's an indebth study.

AreaFada2: 6:06pm On Jan 03
Dude, your feeling is the most normal you can have.

I was in a Michael Jackson concert. about 7 years later, I also saw Whitney, Bobby and Mariah perform together. I enjoyed the shows but nothing more.

Girls were crazy, hugging and kissing black guys after the MJ's show. Totally weird.

Celebrity worship is out of hand.

Celebrity worship is a sign of low intelligence.
And most of all this displays are just hype by their team to make them seem important.
drkrest(m): 6:33pm On Jan 03
Only two celebs would freak me in this world; Michael Jackson and Ronaldo. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see MJ before he died but I was honoured to see Ronaldo at a very close distance. Funny thing is that apart from the goosebumps, I didn’t even lose my steeze. I also saw Taylor Swift last year. Instead of being star-struck, it was her performance rather than appearance that gave me chills. Once we start treating those celebs like humans they will start behaving like humans.

You are not alone my brother, same here. I have never been to a night club, nor any of those shows. Why would you when you don't desire to be like them? Celebrity worship is a thing for a lot. I hope you know some people get to the extent of fainting? I see it as them being weird, but, who am I to judge. If it rocks their boat, oya, make dem continue. But as for me, I give no hoot about anyone I don't have any business with.

You are not the only one.

And it is perfectly normal.

In fact, it is people who go crazy at the sight of these celebs that may be abnormal.

In fact, studies have shown that people who go crazy at the sight of celebs may be obsessed with these celebs and low self-esteem is the major contributory factor to this obsession.

Personally, I adore Wole Soyinka, but I am not obsessed with him. The first time I saw him, it was at a mall in Ibadan. The manner in which I ran into him made me stunned because the meeting was unexpected.

After I had got over my shock, I said, "A wonderful morning to you, Prof." His wife was with him, and I said "Good morning, ma" to her.

I was happy to see him, but not to the point of going crazy.

I will stare if I really love the celebrity. But most celebrities I really love are dead so no one currently alive has that effect on me. I love Fela and I would have stared at him keenly if he wore that pant on stage with serious attention but I won't go on stage to grab his ass or do something similar. If I did I will willingly surrender myself for mental evaluation.

I read the news here how Burna Boy ended his show because an overexcited fan climbed the stage.

After reading it, I went to my spotify app and clicked "Don't play this artist."

I think it is the height of hubris for a music artist to punish thousands of fans that paid good money to have a good time because of the sins of 1 fan.

That confirmed to me how egotistical this guy is and I blocked his music immediately.

And if you don't know, Burna Boy can never compare to Fela. Even if he wins a million Grammies he cannot lace Fela's shoes.

The impact of Fela on Nigerian society will still be felt after a hundred years. In 20 years Burna Boy will be forgotten.

One is an eternal icon while the other makes a mockery of the giants he's standing on.

I think you might have gotten it all twisted. For the sake of clarity that show was free from the Side of the African Giant, he wasn't going to be paid a dime and his performance was suppose to be for just 10mins and the dude went all out, over an hour. For the sake of clarity the guy that jumped on him cut him off his train of chain-performance. What burna boy did is akin to what a pastor did recently when he ended his sermon. You don't cut an artist, a high performing one for that matter off his rhythm of performance, that's why you see that they have body guards to avoid scenarios like this. I blame the body guards for how the event ended and really I can't blame Burna boy cos it was after all a free show.

Most of those I like a lot are dead but I would definitely want a picture with Eminem, NF, Dax, and a lot of the greats. I know my worth but that doesn't mean I wouldn't give honor to those who deserve it.

You just haven't met your favourite celebrity yet, the one who has that effect on you.

I've also come across some celebrities and politicians before, but didn't go crazy... People would be fighting to take pictures while I'd just stand aside and watch.

But I nearly fainted because of one celebrity...🤦🤦🤦... I didn't want to go crazy, I wanted to contain myself, but my entire body was taken over by excitement.

You are overrating a normal human being. Yes, they may be talented, but they are still human.

They fart like everyone else. Poo like everyone else, and once they grow out of fame as seasons and trends turn, they live normal lives.

I think you're right about Davido! When I met him at a reception in Victoria Island, I was holding some leaflets. I overheard him telling Teckno that the pictures on the leaflets are very clear. He tapped me politely and said "Baba let me take a look", and I gave it to him. When they were attending to me at the inner office, he brought the leaflets to me himself thinking I forgot. When I was leaving, he requested for the of the leaflets designer and I gave it to him.

I think you're right about him sha

A phone call from him to the leaflet designer will upgrade the designer.

I always tell people to be a professional in whatever field they are in because your work will speak for you nor be jazz and connections only.

It's not about been uptight. I don't see why I should go gaga over a person even if he is MJ, Tu Baba, Bob Marley or whoever.

I simply don't follow others to rave about them.

And this is how celebrities are treated in Abuja. People see them and act like they aren't there.
Because after the hailing if the celeb greets you what next ? Will he award you a contract? Will he give you millions of naira ? No.

Reminds me of a real life experience of House of Rep member Akin Alabi and former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry. Akin saw him in Europe at a bar and tried to go say hi, the response he got was very cold and unfriendly.

Contrast this with what happened last year when Tony Elumelu was in the same room and Thierry Henry greeted in pidgin, which most people assume he learned from Kanu Nwankwo.

Rather than facing embarrassment especially when we were not scheduled to meet, I avoid such situations.

Sometimes not all of them even want the fame and when they are outdoors they want to live normal lives just like everyone. Just getting into their space might be irritating to them.
