Start you meat journey now with native fowl. Many of us dont know how weak we are until you bite native fowl..you go know how meat hard tp chow down and how protein de hard to digest for body. I've done 5/6kg but not 9kg
I wouldn't try such ooo, I consider purchasing power during my production, I no get strength to dey find buyer.
It's not about the feeds although feed production has advanced due to sci n tech, I give my birds nature as much as possible and I don't use fattener or booster.
It's more about advancement in hatchery system than the farmers

Why are you wondering?
The Chicken have been genetically modified. My family Raised 10 chick's starting around June, 3 Broiers and 7 layers. The broilers were so big after 3 months, they had to go. The layers ate same feed, but were struggling to get to half the weight of broilers. It's not the feed, and it's not selective breeding. It's gene modification being experimental on us for longterm health effects while the Government regulates in absenteeism.

Just like they are now mixing carcinogenic substances into straight run naptha to make gasoline and claiming the refineries are suddenly working. Na all of us go suffer am with time.

40K for one chicken bayi. Was the end product up to 5kg?

Those chickens r more than 3 months, dat d reason. Low patronage n more farmers is forcing farmer to keep d chicken longer than usual.

It's true...quality over quantity has always being my thing, infact I prefer buying old layers like 2 or 3 and prepare it by myself, more tastier, natural and healthy.

Old layer is not natural. It taste better than Broiler, but still eats same commercial feed as broiler.

Talking about feeds how many of you are aware that chicken feeds are not powdery anymore instead they are solid form like tablet if you are familiar with cat fish feeds you will understand I asked my friend who produce cat fish feeds he said those powdery chicken feeds the chickens used there legs to scatter the feeds and only ate what they like inside but this solid cube they are force to eat it

Like from their factory, because production is expensive and they won't use the same ingredients in the same measure like before so this time they add X to atleast make your chickens grow.

Let it not be like their feed no longer has any effect on your chicken even after cutting costs on their end

There is something sinister going on concerning the poultry industry in Nigeria. Something is definitely being added to the feed of the chickens. The catfish I ate yesterday was also tasteless.

GMO chickens. Many people will inherit diseases or meet their demise in a short while. Some Africans are so slow and fail to realise they are in the middle of a silent, Cold War with the West whose plan is to depopulate and eventually eradicate the Africans. This is just one of the process since Africans don’t wanna grow their own food and love foreign food.

Just like the one I consumed this festive period though it was organically raised by my mom the meat still make me fear because of its size.

I think it is the feed composition,I bought 8pcs in October ending by December they are very big apart from regular feed and bitter leaves juice I gave them never add anything to it.

The fact we both haven't seen anything like it before is why I am concerned.
I know people use different things to boost their growth but why we're they not boosting it years before untill ending of this year.

I just recalled, you're absolutely right, but their meat is super delicious 😋, broilers when prepared seems too young and over soft to me, I prefer strong bones 😆

I actually overheard a poultry rearer telling a colleague that there was a new feed in town, though quite expensive that could make birds grow overly out of proportion.
It was chemical based.
It's quite unfortunate what we consume these days.

I think there's something going on in the poultry industry that we don't know.

Most people rear chickens from October saving for December, that gives 16 weeks instead of the usual 8 weeks, hence the size. There's nothing extraordinary about it, just longer breeding time

Initially, I thought it was just a rare exception when I received two hefty chickens as gifts. They were so massive that I almost doubted they were the regular chickens we’re used to seeing. Each one cost up to ₦28,000 a price far beyond what we’d usually associate with the common poultry we know.

However, my visit to the market recently revealed something surprising. Chickens just as big as the ones I received were everywhere! Stall after stall, it was the same big, heavy birds ready for sale. It got me thinking: why the sudden shift?

Where did all these oversized chickens come from? Why weren’t they as common before the end of 2024?

It’s curious how this trend seemed to pop up almost overnight. Could it be that something new is being used to grow these chickens faster and larger? Were there advancements in poultry farming techniques that suddenly became widespread? Or is this tied to some kind of new feed or growth-enhancing practice that wasn’t used before?

More importantly, should we be concerned about potential health implications? If these chickens are being bred or enhanced in ways we don’t fully understand, could there be side effects for consumers down the line?

I can’t help but wonder if others have noticed this trend too. Does it feel suspicious to you, or do you think it’s simply a result of improved farming practices?

The who live in secluded towns and villages are quick to show themselves. 1995 was the first time I saw an Agric fowl. Twenty-nine years — wow, thirty years later, they are my preferred choice over native chickens which offer nothing but bones.
