Please for those that have moved ahead from the pre-approval stage, what did you do? Some of us are still here after weeks of making payment and there's no mail yet.
I've sent multiple emails with suggested templates, and haven't gotten a response.
Agents are asking for exorbitant prices and still saying ‘a lot of maybes’. Please if there is a suggested alternative or someone to call for assistance, and it's confirmed, please let us know.
January is here already…

Hi everyone,

I submitted a DS160 form and used it to schedule an F1 visa interview for Oct 24, 2024.

I was not able to attend the interview so I cancelled the appointment.

I asked my school to defer the ission to a later date and issue a new i-20 form, which they did. I have also created a new DS-160 form to reflect the new resumption date.

I want to reschedule my previous visa appointment for June 2025. There's no provision to update the interview appointment with the new DS-160 form,

Should I create a new visa appointment for the new DS160 and pay a new visa fee or should I go to the interview with the two DS160 forms?

I would like to ask: Is GRE mandatory to secure full funding for PhD programs in the USA?

You can go with the two ds160, that's exactly what I did at abuja yesterday, they scanned the updated one and I was not even asked anything about why I have a different code on my appointment letter

My interview was approved and the VO promised to help hasten up the issuance because of my resumption date
Thanks for the advise

RealTrump:

focus on the interview on your interview for now. Usually the school will give you at least a week extra. Not like classes will start on 5th anyways but just be in touch with them so you don't have issues at the point of entry.

Worst thing that can happen is they will defer you to fall, and you will still use the same visa to enter. But I wrote first is the most likely option.

Hopefully you don't get istrative processing cos then you will have no option than defer.

In all, the interview first. One before the other

Hello all, expert please advise,

I had an interview in Lagos and Abuja and was denied in both. In my first interview I clearly messed up as the Vo asked about my sponsor income who is my elder brother and I couldn’t answer cos I didn’t prepare for that question. I had a full tuition waiver from the school but had a living expenses of 12000$. This was on 19th Dec and I reapplied and luckily got a date for 30th of December. In my second interview the VO said I was here just few days ago and Why was I reapplying again, I told the Vo that in my first interview I didnot have the income information of my sponsor but now I do and also i applied immediately because my school is resuming in January, she then ask why the USa ,my highest qualification when i finished why i am going for an MBA now, then asked again why i reapplied again, interview lasted for a long time.. but i was still denied. Now I have defered to summer 2025.

Now when I am asked what have changed in my application can i change my sponsor to company sponsor and personal fund for my deficit. Will change in my sponsorship affect my next application, I plan on reapplying in the next 4 months . Please advise.

Use personal funds this time.. If they ask, tell them your brother sent the funds to you to ensure you're taken care of during your program.

Good day, please I need expert advice.

My preapproval request was just rejected and I've been asked to re- my I-20.
My classes resume January 10th and my intended date of travel was January 3rd but now that its been rejected, I feel like if I re- the same I-20, it will be rejected again.
I've been denied my Visa twice before and this is my 3rd attempt.
Should I try to get another I-20 by deferment or go ahead with this? Or do you have any other advice on how to go about it?

Greetings everyone, please I need an advice from anyone that has been able to schedule an appointment with the Lagos Consulate. I have been unable to move past selecting a document delivery option page for over 4 months now, and I do not know how to go about it. I have mailed them and also created several tickets about that but no solutions yet.

Please what's the process to renew F1 visa? Do you have to attend interview again or can it be done by Dropbox?

Is it a problem if you attended university for a year but had to come back to Nigeria due to low grades (loss of scholarship funding). Got transfer to a community college and hope to go back in August 2025 but visa will expire in April 2025

Will really appreciate any advice and help.

Please sir, can you advise me on what to do. I've been trying to make an appointment since November 2024 for an appointment because school resumes this January and to no avail. I've been unable to the pre-approval stage and unable to even proceed to pay for my child as my F2. Please what do I do. Thank you

GRE is not mandatory for securing full funding for PhD programs in the USA. Still, its importance depends on several factors
1. Program requirements
2. Funding considerations
3. Institution policies
4. Field of study
Ensure to check the program requirements, and research the funding policies, prepare a strong application before applying.

Good afternoon everyone
Please I need guidance, I have just scaled through preapproval stage and got to date selection but am seeing dates from July and my resumption is 8th march, how do I requesting for express date or whichever it’s called, please help 🙏

Renewing an F-1 visa typically depends on whether you are eligible for the Interview Waiver Program (IWP). You may qualify for the Dropbox option if:

1. Your previous F-1 visa is still valid or expired less than 48 months ago (some embassies have shorter timelines; check the specific U.S. Embassy or Consulate's requirements).
2. You are applying at the same U.S. Embassy or Consulate where your previous visa was issued (some flexibility may apply here).
3. You're applying for the same visa category (F-1) as the previous one.
4. You don't have any visa refusals or ineligibilities since your last F-1 visa issuance.
5. Your SEVIS ID remains the same, or you have updated your SEVIS ID properly in the new I-20.

Thank you very much for this response. I think I qualify for IWP from the requirements you just outlined.

How do I go about renewing it now? What's the process?

I just noticed that the earliest date to select from in Lagos starts from January 2026 😔

No dates currently for 2025
