Thank you for your response. I have renewed my visa so I take it making an application in the country is the best option.

TinFoil100:

Hello,
Lagos consulate employment based interview scheduling defy rhyme or reason.Dearth of information on the consulate part also is not helpful. Hence, the permutation and combination in the last 2 years grin grin .

If you are eligible for EB1- A-C, I will suggest apply because it's like getting yourself in the queue but Ultra high level of patience will be the name of the game. Upon completion of the application and approval process, you become Documentarily qualified. if your Priority Date is current, You are left with NVC scheduling interview which is a function of Lagos consulate capacity at the time of the month scheduling is ongoing. EB-1 applicant are not as much as EB-2s and Eb-3, so your wait time may not be as ridiculous.

The reason for saying this is because employment based excess quota usually gotten from unused family preference category (~20-40k) was not included for fiscal year 2025 140,000 application. This means more backlog at consulates, but faster processing on US soil (Adjustment of status) due to USCIS Efficiency. We may see EB visa across most categories used up as early as June Next year .

EB1 ROW will probably move from current to Priority dates assigned by the end of 1st quarter 2025.

Hi @JohnPhysics congratulations! The EB2 NIW does not require that you submit proof of funds for an immigrant visa (IV). Your welcome letter will tell you the required documents you need to submit, which are mainly civil documents. I usually suggest that people read through the embassy website to learn more about documents. I applied for my IV by myself, and I am documentarily qualified.

Did you get your welcome letter yet?

Have you also progressed to submitting your documents to NVC?

Please, I am in the US already, but my dependents are still in Nigeria. I want to ask the average months or years it takes for my dependents to do interview if my priority date is current. I already know I'll do I-485 and the timeline for approval is averagely 4 to 6 months but I don't know for my wife and children who will be doing it in Nigeria.

The only thing I can say here is that there are people in Nigeria still waiting for interview letter for up to 2 years now. Maybe you should consider taking your family to the USA. It is faster Lagos is very very slow.

Hi everyone, I would like to ask if Togo, Cameroon and other west Africa countries accept employment based EB case transfer from Nigeria?
beautyuche: 11:56pm On Jan 03
I don't know if the EB process is different for families but I will suggest if you are the primary applicant get your green card through the Adjustment of Status then the family can apply for k1 or any other visa in that category.

This my thoughts though let the guru in the house respond

To transfer your case to another country for interview, you must have legal residency or citizenship in that country. Also the US embassy in that country usually have specific additional requirements to accept transfers.

But beware that transfer of cases usually takes time too. It can take 3months to 1 year depending on the country you are transferring to.

If I understand your situation, you have an approved EB petition and you will be doing adjustment of status within the US since you are already in the US. However, your wife and children are going through consular processing through Lagos.

If that's correct, then if your family are on same i‐140 you are using to adjust status, then they will follow same pool of immigrant visa applicants currently waiting for Interview dates from Lagos Embassy.

Thanks so much for your response. But after transfer and i receive the IL, can the medical exam be done in my primary country or the new country where the case is transfer to?

You will have to do medical exam in the new country most likely because each country embassy has contracted medical facility they use for medicals.

You can also inquire from the new embassy if they accept foreign medical facility, though I doubt they will accept from my experience.

Transfer doesn't take time. It takes about a week and you may get IL after one month depending on the situation in the country you are transferring to.

You must do your medical examination in the same country where you will do your immigrant Visa interview.

You will need to do another evaluation through WES US. The evaluation for Canada PR only useful to get Canadian equivalent of your credentials. WES will have to re evaluate your credentials to US equivalent. The good news is that WES already have your credentials and they have validated them through your schools while evaluating for Canadian equivalent. Thus, this evaluation will be faster this time around.

You don't have to send the evaluation report directly to USCIS through WES. The report should be sent to you and you can send a copy to USCIS when they request it.

At the moment, it takes about 10.5 months to get a decision (Texas Centre). For Nebraska, it is over a year.
