FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike blast an FCT Local Govt Chairman on Live TV when he said doesn’t have the capacity to buy vehicles for the Police.

AMAC is the Abuja Metropolitan Area Council. It is one of the most important local governments in Abuja.

The council chairman, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, said that many police stations in his area had no vehicles and they asked him for vehicles, but he had no capacity to give them vehicles. He said that he was happy that the minister was there and he believed that the minister would do something.

Mr Wike said that it was embarrassing that a council chairman would say something like that, yet the local governments are always collecting revenue. He said that the chairman was the chief security officer of the local government.

He said that he (Wike) was once a local government chairman and he built police stations, gave them vehicles and provided water for them. He said that it was good that the event was being televised live, so that the chairman could not claim that he was misquoted. He said that it was a shame that the chairman said he had no capacity (he reiterated that it was the chairman that said so, not him) and then he said that we'll see what will happen during the next election.

These FCT chairmen are literally big and are compared to governors because they have bigger Influence compair to state chairmen.

They don't pay LG workers and they've been owing them for years. And all the allocations given to them are spent on their bellies alone.

Did the man contest in private? Does he not collect LG funds? What exactly does he do as Lg chairman if you cannot do the basics?

You may not like Wike but the man is speaking truth. We all need to hold our LG chairmen to . Many of us (including myself) don’t even know who our local govt chairman is. They have autonomy, they have funds and they are closest to the people! Most of the things that concern our day to day lives are under the remit of local govt chairmen. Street lights, community security, community health centers, potholes, local traffic, touts, drainage etc are not the business of governors or the president! These things have more impact on people’s lives than airports, express ways etc. and these things are the responsibility of LG chairmen!

For every one Naira that goes to the federal govt at FAAC, 46 kobo is shared to local government chairmen, yet everybody is focused on FG and nobody knows his LG chairman! Neither are we concerned that for decades (until recent LG autonomy) 54% of every FAAC Naira has been in the hands of governors and most have nothing to show

You nailed it. Wike has special privileges others didn't have especially as it concerns the consolidated govt . He is all noise with less substance. One thing he does very well is work on the psyche of Nigerians with his shabby performance while he fritters the money thru the back door. Everything he does is to his own benefit first before others. Go check any road he works on there's a property he intends to grab or one he has already grabbed. Every substandard bridge he built in rivers is tied to a property he grabbed from the government of rivers state or private and corporate bodies. Just name one road or bridge wike built that doesn't lead to his private estate or investment. Nobody can name one road he did for the people for the sake of good governance. Not one.

Don't mind Yoruba people that Tinubu, they are very good at deceiving people and hyping nonsense. That's how they hyped Rochas Okorocha as the best Governor in Nigeria just because Rochas was ing Buhari while working against Igbo interest.


They hyped and praised Buhari as the best President Nigeria ever had just to deceive Buhari into helping to make their god Tinubu the next President against Igbo people's turn. Immediately Buhari left office they started calling him names and abusing him as failure.

He is right, AMAC is one of the richest LGAs in Nigeria, come to Abuja and see their revenue collectors harrassing people and locking up businesses if you don't remit taxes.
The Chairman disgraced himself, moreover Wike does not tamper with allocation like State Governors do, they have full LG autonomy in Abuja

Some one that can't even win control or of his state just few months after he left office

That LG chairman is a typical public servant always looking for whom to blame for the problems they created or capable of solving.

He has no capacity but he is holding a Samsung fold 5 or 6, he would have finished building multiple houses and probably bought a house for one hookup girl yet he came to the public to claim that he doesn't have capacity to buy a vehicle of between 2 - 6m (Belgium or Naija used). I have seen police using Sienna, minivan, obele bus even car to run operations yet this incapacitated LG chairman couldn't do anything.

Wike impressed me with his response.

Above all, why are we running a Federal Policing system that the federal government doesn't have the capacity to cater for. This is tantamount to the Almajiri system where you give birth to children and expect someone else to cater for them.

Wike is a bad leader, you don't correct publicly like that.

Assuming it's not on camera, it better but in public telling him he will see what will happen in next election.
