Before proceeding with this thread, I will like to specially thank my boss, @valarinz. He is a principled man to the core, even to a fault grin grin grin Good and dedicated people like him no reach 2 in Lagos. I also want to thank my boss @Kingreign I hope not to disturb him that much as he is a very busy man grin grin

I got the ride here in abj in Oct, same day I went for the inspection. Damn, the car was too good to be true, I ran my scans and it checks out fine, with 67k miles on the odo meter (genuine), engine bay looks like it was just out of the factory. The seller was on his way out of naija (not the usual sales gimmicks, he don japa true true) grin

Overall, the car looks well taken care of. Most of the mods I wanted to do on the car has been done, and even more.

Checking the fluid levels a few days after purchase, I discovered that water was used as coolant angry angry angry
I was forced to do complete servicing on the ride. But the challenge was, where can I get genuine fluids for my new baby. As simple as this might sound, it is one of the things that kills cars in Nigeria. I started sourcing for genuine coolants and genuine Mobil 1 0w20 oil. For the 5 liters, it sells for 30k to up to 100k, all the containers looks exactly the same, how then can I differentiate between genuine oil and fake one?

I finally found this guy on jiji with a consistent good rating, He sold the 5 liters of the advanced fuel economy for 85k and 1 liter for 28k, Prestone max 5Lcoolant for 50k (got 2) and oil filter for 45k (bosch). Finally did the servicing on the 28 of November, drained all the water and replaced it with the coolant, did same with the oil. Car drives like a dream.

I won't have to trust any naija dealer on any fluid for my car, I will start importing it myself from ebay, both filter and oil. He adviced that I do servicing every 6 months or 10k miles, I am not ready to risk my car for that, servicing will be done every 3 months, even if na 1k mile I put on the car within that period
Port443: 5:46am On Dec 05, 2024
The clock has started ticking, next servicing is due on any convenient week of February, 2025 grin grin grin May God keep us all

lol calm down my chief. I stated that there is no 100% guarantee that the oil is original, even the one I imported. The only sure thing is that if you change the oil on time, whether original or fake, the impact won't be much.

I clearly stated it here that this is just my personal documentary of my ride, you mustn't comment, I would have moved it to diary section but I felt maybe someone might have useful input.

I was getting some very weird noise from the rear end, I suspected a lot of things, however, the bushings checked out fine. I was told the noise will probably be from sway bar rubber. I got one today for 25k and the noise seems to have gone

Why are Nigerians like this , instead of you to tap from grace, you are showcasing your poverty mindset

Another equipment change that didn't solve the issue. On 12th of December 2024, following the guidance of my boss @kingreign, I replaced the front linkages but that didn't also solve the issue but the replaced front linkages were visibly bad, the noise continued. Today 13th of December 2024, I finally decided to tear open the whole headliner, lo and behold, the noise was coming from the moonroof glass. For some reasons, the bolts that were holding the glasses were tight but the hanger to the bolts were wobbly. We constructed a packing from a metallic object and that solved the issue. Hurray! My ride is 100% healthy cool cool

Next stop is ebay shopping grin grin I need to add Roadtop carplay and android auto to the stock audio system and most importantly, buy the "genuine" oil for next year servicing.

I hope I get a good electrician that I can work with to install the carplay grin grin grin

If you use oil it's a waste of money and time to service at 3 months with little mileage though.

Very true my brother, but is there a way to know that the oil you are using is 100% genuine?

If a "trusted" supplier picks up fake one and give you, will you know?

I actually don’t see any waste of money here, that car’s engine price is quite steep, moreover you don’t know how many kilometers/miles the op covers, might not be much but still a major factor into consideration

Exactly my point bro, the engine of this ride is over 8m and I won't want to drive a car with naija replaced engine
