I had this issue too. Paid on the 8th with online transfer but up till now, still nothing. I had to make another payment directly via firstbank over-the-counter deposit and it reflected the next day. I will advice you don't make payments on Friday because the deposit slip won't be valid over the weekend. I think that was where the issue came from. Hope they rectify it asap

I think that can be changed. Someone posted about this a while back. There are some steps on the ds-160 site you can follow. I have not done it myself though.

i dont understand what or why you are asking, of course its better if they interview together...and you/they should have factored that in and juggled the dates when rescheduling.....now u have lost that capability, its up to you to decide if you have extra money to gamble with, by making a fresh payment and then try to match the date of 1 person.....ie if u decide their being interviewed together is worth the fresh MRV fee

I've been thinking of the best response to your question, because you've already answered it yourself.
They've used up all their slots and have to attend individually. What I can suggest is that whoever goes first mentions to the consular that the other spouse is traveling with them but would be interviewed on a later date because they couldn't get same date for both. It may help to give whoever goes first a copy of the others DS 160 form, port date page and appointment confirmation, as ing documents.
There's no guarantee that making a fresh payment will get same day for both of them.

SO just got a sad news from the AVITS people today, after several engagements on chats and emails to consular abuja etc. a rep who appears knowledgeable asked me the status of my application/appointment,
I missed the initial IW dropoff due to the ois/dhl mixup, and my appointment says expired. and all attempts to reschedule or rebook an appointment using the old gt bank payment has been unsuccessful.

so the agent says I have to pay a new fee, if my status is showing expired, and couldn't explain or give a reasonable response why my payment made in july 2024 would be expired, when I hvnt made an reschedule attempt whatsoever...and missed my initial date due to the americans own internal confusion from the switch to avits.

am really feeling pissed, and its painful no one to complain to or escalate.

anyone who booked recently, pls confirm the earliest dates for IW nd dropoff for abuja

Even IW is not granted nowadays.... I made an appointed for my grannies yesterday and both were not given IW only going for physical interview on May 2025....

Someone eligible for IW on this thread narrated that even though he got an interview appointment on the website when he went to the embassy they told him to go do Dropbox. It has also been theorised on this thread that they have collapsed IW and interview to one calendar.

Please has anyone renewed F1 visa via drop box very recently, with this new AVITS format? how long did it take to get your port back? what did the process entail? is it best to start the process now considering visa doesn't expire until next may? if you can kindly provide a walk through of what you had to do and how long you waited, that would be great! It appears there are no IW/Dropbox in Lagos for the forseeable future. It's really frustrating cos this AVITS migration made thing worse.

DS 160 form is currently carrying Lagos - what I filled, is it possible to change it to Abuja please? It seems Abuja folks aren't experiencing this wahala.

My interview was on the 5th of December, when I got home I checked the status and it showed "Approved". On the 6th the Status changed to "Issued". I proceeded to check for my port on OIS website and it kept showing "port not ready for pickup" until yesterday morning when I checked and it showed "port ready for pickup". I filled out the necessary information and booked a pick up for this morning. Thankfully pick up is free till the 31st of December.

I need your help or guidance.

My parents are qualify for interview waiver but this new avista didn’t bring that options except calendar interview date. The current available date is for Jan 2026.

I see most people do also experienced this issue and I have seen post of selecting waiver in annotation might help. I am ready to pay another $180 for both of them if that will work but I’m scare it could lead to another issue.

Can you someone please explain in summary the solution to get this interview waiver letter? Also they are based in Ibadan, can they just take the current appointment letter of Jan 2026 to OIS in Ibadan and submit their documents? I’ve seen where people say you can still do the drop off if you don’t have IW letter.

The deed has been done. Let them attend the interview sepeately. The first person should mention that the second person will attend at a later date and explain why they could not get the same date. The visa people are human too. They may appear overly strict and/or unfriendly but they are human and many times, they will understand your challenges if you explain properly and say the truth 100%.
