I was doing great(still do) as a graphic designer. I studied economics and came out with a very good grade. Initially my plan was to go into the corporate world and do 9-5. All that changed when i met my boss. My boss is a first class graduate of mechanical engineering. Universities have begged him to lecture. His dad retired as a VC so he has academics around him a lot. He accepted to work for one university due to his father's pressure. He was hardly meeting up with his assigned days to lecture until the VC called him to his office and gave him a dressing down. This young man looked the VC in the face and told the VC he can pay his salary per year 5 times over and stormed out. I did some follow up and got to know that this young man is a large scale producer of catfish fingerlings(around 300k fingerlings every 4 weeks) and also has several earthen pond where he stocks up to 30,000 catfish per time. The CBN met him some years ago and offered him loans which he turned down. I was really intrigued and got close to him. He doesn't talk much but he likes seeing commitment and genuine interest. I showed plenty. When I saw how much returns he was getting every 8 weeks, nobody told me to understudy him which I did. I'm into breeding now as a side hustle. Let me tell you the truth. There's serious 'blood' money flowing around. I don't mean rituals. I mean money that appears to come from magic. Just be in the right business and learn everything you need to know about that business. Catfish business is one of them. If you have capital, know the business very well...forget. There's a reason why Israelis and Lebanese with Chinese of recent are massively dominating the catfish market in Nigeria. Those guys are cashing out like mad. 41 Likes 4 Shares |

People talk about Agriculture like it's a no man's business, well gone are those days. All over the world Agriculture is the most important sector of the economy much more important than tech because nobody dead or alive can survive without food. Just find your Niche and you are sure to smile to the bank.

Be aware of all these news of making money from fish, to maize to ugu and okra, it's a propaganda from government to make you look lazy and blamed for your government induced hardship and hunger. I was a fish farmer for like 3 years and I know it requires very huge capital to start making profit from the business You must have steady water Fishes no dey sleep so they eat food all the time and the feed is expensive, to even buy the intestines of animals that we used in breeding maggots is no longer available and affordable It takes extreme expertise and grace to have more than 300 fingerlings to survive from the 1000 we buy. It needs attention too because if food no dey, bigger fishes dey chop lower ones Abeg, make una dey take it easy Agriculture is good but not as cozy as it is incessantly reported here on NL A good COREN ED civil Engineer who knows his onions has more societal problems to solve Engineeringly than struggling with fish farming that should ordinarily be left for animal scientists 44 Likes 3 Shares |

Isn't it shameful that a trained civil engineer had to resort to catfish farming just to make ends meet? Nigerians would praise the most absurd of things. I think the typical Nigerian has no retrospective ability.
