Hijack 93

This movie personifies everything that is wrong with the Nigerian movie industry. It is bland, unimaginative, uninspired, and a complete waste of time.

Set in 1993, Hijack 93 fails to transport you to that time period. Without the title explicitly telling you the year, you'd never guess it. The costumes, the buildings, the overall aesthetic—all of it feels modern. It's as if no effort was made to authentically recreate the era. It’s clear that no care was given to any of the finer details.

The acting ranges from dull to downright atrocious. The performances feel forced, and the film never quite comes together to form a coherent story. Plot points are introduced and then completely abandoned without any resolution. The movie feels like it’s going nowhere, and by the end, you’re left wondering what, exactly, you’ve just watched.

Even more frustrating is the film's portrayal of the Nigerian public’s reaction to the events on the aircraft. The way it’s clumsily shoehorned into the narrative constantly had me rolling my eyes. It’s poorly executed and lacks any real emotional depth.

To make matters worse, this is based on a true story. The fact that we can’t even tell it in an engaging or competent way is disappointing. If Hollywood were to step in and produce this, people would likely complain about the accents. But frankly, I’d prefer the accents to be off if it meant the movie was at least technically competent.

It reminds me of The Hateful Eight by Quentin Tarantino which I tried watching when it got released. I found it boring and so I quit right after the first 20 minutes. I my elder brother telling me that the movie is interesting. Just last week, I finally saw it after almost a decade. Boy, was I blown away?

Maturity made me like The Hateful Eight and it is that same maturity that made me like Conclave. I guess anime and video game-loving boys won't follow.

It is not everything that should be action, action, action. Why not dialogue, dialogue and more dialogue?

I agree with your general sentiment, but it is possible to enjoy the so called childish things and still appreciate the brilliance of more mature content, all without being condescending.

Talking about maturity and choice of movie, you're so right!!

I 10 years ago, I was all about unrealistic action sequences and whatnots. I couldn't stand watching Saving private Ryan, Forrest Gump, Shutter Island just to mention a few, but guess what, I watched those movies recently and realized how beautiful a masterpiece they are.

Indeed, maturity influences ones choice in life, right now, I prefer historical, War or Thriller genre of movies over the others

I wonder why it took me so long to watch this. It's a slow burn, but worth every minute watching it. A classic.

Ha well, not as good as the first, IMO, but still interesting. Michael Corleone is a creepy, ruthless and unforgiving individual.

The Godfather 3-

This movie should not have been made. It was pointless and a cash grab. Not bad, but not as good as the first two.
