Majority of people say the fish is supposed to be precooked before adding it to your soup.
What difference does it make? The fish will eventually absorb the ingredients from the soup, still, making it taste great, too.
What do you think, guys?
Does cooking it this way speak to culinary incompetency

Who would add fresh fish to soup without first seasoning and partially cooking it? The properly cooked fish not only tastes sweeter and better but also reduces the strong odor associated with fresh fish.

If I were to visit your home and witness you adding uncooked, fresh fish directly to your soup, I would immediately infer that you lack culinary expertise and possibly maintain questionable hygiene standards and would never eat that rubbish.

The end justifies the means abeg...

Some people just find it repulsive

Anyway, if its meat, if you boil it separately for some minutes with seasoning before adding to soup or making soup with it, it rises, tastes and looks different than just adding it raw to soup...

You're basing your comment on assumptions. What has putting your fish fresh got to do with hygiene? Won't the fish cook eventually? And who set the standard?

Meat is understandable. It has to be precooked to soften it. You don't have to soften fish. And it's not like you throw away the fish broth after cooking. I don't see any difference

Fish do not take long to cook, plus, they break (pieces) easily.
Mere steam can even cook a fish.

As long as they've been washed, salted, and allowed to drain out, they can be added directly to already boiling, seasoned soup/stew.

It is tastier and juicier when you cook it like the whites, not too long on the fire. smiley

Right.

Not so like the whites though.
