Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has once again proven that development, not distractions, is his focus. On Tuesday, he commissioned the reconstructed Okehi/Umuola/Eberi Link Road, a vital 11.8km project connecting the agrarian local governments of Etche and Omuma.

This road, completed within just five months, is more than asphalt, it’s a lifeline for the hardworking farmers and residents of these food-producing LGAs. Known as the food baskets of Rivers State, Etche and Omuma contribute significantly to the state’s agricultural output with staples like yam, cassava, plantain, corn and vegetables.

Speaking at the commissioning, Governor Fubara highlighted the neglect Omuma LGA endured under previous istrations, pledging to reverse the trend by ensuring every part of Rivers State benefits from governance. "This road is not just about connectivity; it’s about development and inclusion," he said.

The governor explained that the road, designed with modern specifications, 7.3 meters in width, a 150mm stone base and a durable 50mm binder and wearing course was prioritized because of its strategic importance. It serves as a gateway to Omuma, where the governor is also constructing the Omodu-Eberi-Omuma Road, which will connect Rivers to Abia State.

Governor Fubara reiterateed the economic potential this project unlocks. “With this road, we are empowering the people. We are enabling faster movement of farm produce, improving trade, and ultimately boosting the GDP of Rivers State.”

Farmers in the region, who have long endured the challenges of transporting their goods on bad roads, can now access markets faster and more efficiently, ensuring higher earnings and reduced post-harvest losses.

Governor Fubara’s performance is particularly commendable given the challenges and political distractions aimed at derailing his istration. Despite these hurdles, he remains undeterred, delivering on promises and solidifying his reputation as a leader focused on results, not rhetoric.

The commissioning of the Okehi/Umuola/Eberi Link Road is another testament to Governor Fubara’s resolve to leave no part of Rivers State behind. His istration’s approach is clear: development for all, regardless of societal status or political leanings.

The people of Etche and Omuma are now witnessing the tangible benefits of this commitment, with a road that not only connects their communities but also their dreams for a better future. Governor Fubara has once again raised the bar for governance, proving that distractions are no match for determination.

Now I can confirm there's a concerted effort here on Nairaland to discredit Gov. Sim. If this was a news about the Political Crisis, It would have made the front Page.
Anyways congratulations to the Etche/Ọmụma people and to Rivers State in General.
May Sim Fubara Succeed.

Seems you’re just finding out. The new Love between Yoruba Muslim and Wike really working against that guy but guess what? Wike go soon betray their Oga as he did to his previous Oga’s too by that time, I’m wondering what the Yoruba Muslims will say. Yoruba is a good tribe and good people but you see their Muslims? Their Zone B is irredeemable. I’m still wondering how God created those people and share them in Nigeria

Fubara is gradually becoming the best governor of Rivers State.
Man is developing and opening up rural areas and abandoned communities which never received attention under emperor Wike.

Amazing
I ire Fubara so much, despite the challenges..
He managed to keep things calm and not allow it escalate into a level where state actors overwhelms the state, while using his intelligence to pilot the state affairs.

Giant strides if you ask me, meanwhile note that

it is only a Nigerian girl you will see preparing for marriage and she only has #5k or less in her

With a mind blowing milage

You Nigerians are very weird people.

It's abnormal to construct roads without drainages, in any modern society. When the rains begin and that road gets washed off, you will be the same animals to come here and criticize the Governor for doing a shoddy job. Now someone has pointed out that anomaly, but you'll rather bare your fangs in attack.

Come to even think of it, are you blind? The pictures you ed as a reprisal attack, can you not see the drainages attached to those roads, even if they're quite small? Y'all need serious reorientation in this country.

The thing is Fubara has achieved alot but his media team are not doing a good job. They don't show things properly to the masses. I wish he can appoint Seminitari as his spokesperson

Not all ikwerre please. We have such from those emuoha/ogbakiri guys and part of akpor that migrated from ekpeye.
You don't find such in elele alimini, igwurita, isiokpo or ndele etc.
Don't generalise when you see ikwerre man denying his igbo origin. Those that do that are majorly from ogbakiri/ekpeye origin.
Regards.

Yoruba man...

Always taking as if you know anything but when you speak your emptiness shines brightly.

Highways don't necessarily need drainages because there is a way they are built

Fubara got it right, stop exposing your illiteracy.

Good one from His excellency.
Please remind his excellency to construct from oyigbo express through umuebulu down to T- junction to link chokocho and oil mill through oyigbo express.
Along same road, let him link from shell gas collection centre at oyigbo through okpulor to interlocking to link the ring road that ed through eneka to Tap junction.
Also, let His excellency link from umuebulu junction along PH-Aba expressway to igbo to chokocho too. Along this path, link incarnet junction to the shell collection centre to the one heading to T- Junction.
If possible, these roads should be dualized as it will open all okpulor, etche and oyigbo for the benefits of all.

Regards!

See massive expanse of land, idling away and we are having chronic food shortage in this country. Our country should prioritise massive mechanized agriculture and its whole value chain

Engineer, please tell us the way highways are built that they won't be "necessarily needing drainages"? I for one will like to learn something new.
