It will go. I have been observing the dew since the rains stopped.

The morning dew will sustain the cassava so long as the stems are fresh and not dried ones..Proceed

You didn't mention the most important determinant; your location.

It's not a good idea as we are in Hammatatan period unless you want to stress your body to get it wet everyday.

Cassava is planted in my village between Nov and early January. So I will say yes.

For context, all the area that experience perennial/annual flooding (August to October) plant their Cassava between the period above because that's when the floods would have receeded

They do all these with zero irrigation yet massive harvest

When did it rained last in your location?
If it's less than 3 weeks, yes, go ahead quickly.

Over 3 weeks or a month?

If it's a burnt field with a substantial ash cover, you can plant as the ashes will trap dews which would allow the stems to germinate.

On the other hand, if it's not ash-covered, I don't think it's worth it because the germination rate would be too low.

Have you confirmed that your village and his location are in the same ecological zone to conclude it will grow.

Depends on your region and nature of soil. In Benue where I currently stay, We are still planting on HEAPS made in the wet FADAMA where rice has just been harvested. Where are you located?

Normally ur stems will only end up as manure for the coming season. But the rains might be over but not the reign of fire lord Jagan. He being the original Poseidon in previous lifetimes has already promised us Cassava, Garri, Ewa …..! Plant am no fear, nothing dey happen!! grin

if there is a well nearby or on the farm, go ahead

Buy like 4-5drums and fetch water inside

and manually painstakingly wet the base of the roots everyday till the first leaves appear

Its hard work and painstaking work

But its better than wasting time and going hungry and waiting for rain season in April 2025.

If you do what you need to do now, in 6 months time, you will be thanking God you did

What induces "rooting in a cassava stem? What is the effect of your observed morning 'dew' on subsoil solution?

Do you know the consequences of your quack advisory on a failed 10,000 cassava plants/ha?

The whole of October and early November would have been perfect, but the slowpoke waited till December to ask; And off course you showed.

Have you heard of crop calendar?

In my village some people plant theirs by January. So it would be looking dried and dying until the rains come. Then it would blossom.

Truth is, cassava is a rugged crop, it can survive anywhere. It doesn't die like that.
