Wonderful thread!

Please guys,
For the recent immigrants to the US, what format of the "Certificate of Birth" issued by National Population Commission(NPC) was accepted by the NVC for civil documents?

We've had an attestation of birth issued by NPC and most recently certificate of birth from same NPC both rejected as invalid document.

Please any contributions will be appreciated
Try sharing this on the 'At the NVC.....' thread

Ppl who are at the same stage can chime.
It might not because of the document, sure the file size or type is wrong

Both of those are good choices but filling up fast. Those from New Yorker and some from New Jersey are moving south to Florida due to weather and cheaper cost of living while Californians and Chicagoans are moving east to Texas for the same reason and that’s slowly driving up costs. Both would be good choices though.
I don’t know your job industry or if you only like major cities but I’ll suggest a few Southern cities with fairly cheap but good quality cost of living, good housing cost, good schools, things to do and enjoy, a Nigerian population, and good job markets. Research Birmingham and Huntsville in Alabama, Nashville and Murfreesboro in Tennessee (Murfreesboro is diverse and very nice), Lafayette in Louisiana, Baytown in Texas, the last two have opportunities in oil/gas, technology, etc. Birmingham and Huntsville are great if you’re in engineering.

Thank you. I am quoting based on the insight you provided.

I am seeking to leave the UK at some point.

I know dynamics change overtime. I am in the Project/product management space, what cities are viable for my industry?

Thank you in advance.

I’m planning to relocate to the US for work and would appreciate any guidance on the criteria I need to meet. Could you also provide insight into the typical expenses and funds needed for a smooth transition?

To this move, I’m considering selling my car, valued at around 6-7 million, as well as land worth 2 million. In your opinion, would this be sufficient to achieve my relocation goals?

Thank you for your assistance, and I look forward to any advice you can offer.

Hi gurus in the house, what is the smoothest route to relocate to the US? I’m on a work visa in the UK but I am just working to pay bills, to save is very hard. I need to relocate within the next six months. Your kind advice will be appreciated🙏

The journey to 2024 should be made into a movie. All the adversity, hate, assassination attempts, oppression that Donald Trump was subjected to.

And he pushed through all that, to win in the end.

This is historic and significant.

Congrats to Donald Oluwafemi Trump, the 47th presido of the United States!

Hello everyone, pls a Friend of mine urgently needs advice. He wants to invest in the US real estate market..something like a residential flat or an Air bnb of some sort in like one of the major big Cities with strong rent market and tourism, his budget is around $200k to $350k. Questions are:
How easy is it to buy and manage such asset as a non US citizen living in Nigeria?
What are the best big Cities for such investment?
Is there a better location(UK for example)for such investment than the US?
Is there an (easier)immigration pathway for him or his adult children after securing such investment?
You can answer anyone you know..

An EB-5 Investor visa is granted to people who create an investment in the USA that meets the following criteria (among others):

1. Minimum investment amount: $1,050,000 or $800,000 (includes infrastructure projects) in Targeted Employment Area
2. An EB-5 investor must invest the required amount of capital in a new commercial enterprise that will create full-time positions for at least 10 qualifying employees. For a new commercial enterprise not located within a regional center, the new commercial enterprise must directly create the full-time positions to be counted. This means that the new commercial enterprise (or its wholly owned subsidiaries) must itself be the employer of the qualifying employees. For a new commercial enterprise located within a regional center, the new commercial enterprise can directly or indirectly create the full-time positions. Up to 90% of the job creation requirement for regional center investors may be met using indirect jobs. Direct jobs establish an employer-employee relationship between the new commercial enterprise and the persons it employs. Indirect jobs are held outside of the new commercial enterprise but are created as a result of the new commercial enterprise.

More info on the visa can be found at https://www.uscis.gov/working-in-the-united-states/permanent-workers/eb-5-immigrant-investor-program

Hi guys,

Please, I will appreciate it if anyone knowledgeable about this can reply.

One of my relatives immigrant visas is on processing. We received a below message even after everything is submitted, now, we are not really clear on how to specifically attend to this. There's no any family member that can stand as a sponsor again here.

Instruction received:

" The income reported as stated on form I-864, I-864A is insufficient to overcome the public charge grounds of inissibility for visa issuance. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Form I-864 from a t sponsor may be submitted. A consular officer will decide if you meet these requirements at the time of the interview. Note: You, as the sponsor, and any other sponsors household and t sponsors, must provide updated or additional evidence for the applicant to present at the time of their interview such as: Other income, Assets, Proof of current employment. You can continue to documents to CEAC up until the date of your visa interview "

My question, is it also possible to attach bank statement of the sponsor showing savings to that can cover the remaining fund required?

And, is there anyway we can CEAC?

This petition was filed in Dec 2022 and we are only waiting for this Mama interview date in Lag.

@Taal17, @Aestake , please guys

Thanks

The form is to show that the sponsor have adequate means of financial .

You filed with your federal income tax return for the most recent tax year or other evidence of reported income. So what has changed?

Get a co-sponsor or if you think you omitted some income file it. The point is to show you meet the minimum financial requirements.

Maybe you should share this on the NVC thread.

That being said, you need another t sponosr.
It doesn't have to be a family member.

I'd guess your household size is large.
Go check the minimums financial requirements for the household size and compare it with the income you you put for petitioner and household member with i864A

Good morning, and thank you for reaching out and for the kind words about this section!

It’s a great idea to have a dedicated thread for the Nigerian community living in the US. Such a thread could be a fantastic resource for sharing experiences, providing guidance on living abroad, networking, and ing each other. If there isn’t already a similar thread, this could certainly serve as a wonderful start.

For now, feel free to introduce yourself and encourage others to in. Sharing topics like adjusting to life in the US, finding Nigerian communities, job opportunities, educational resources, and cultural events could be a great way to kick things off. Looking forward to seeing this community grow!

A friend of mine was given an appointment on the 19th of November for an interview at the USA embassy. Just few days ago he received an email from www.usvisaappt.com telling him and to schedule an appointment. Does the mail make any sense since the person already has an appointment next week by 7am?

Thanks so much bro. Yes, the house is large and this person has already filed for me in which I already got it. The application was made subsequently for two of us. Now, they are asking this for the remaining person. I guess they have already included me in the household since I already got it, maybe that is the reason why they think we need additional income?

For the t sponsor, as you said, even a friend can stand as one? And must live in the same place?

Thanks brother

They don't have to live in the same house or even state.

They just need to have fill the form and provide evidence of income to meet the threshold for their own personal household plus the applicants.

So think carefully about who would be suitable and ask around

Hello Sisi. I recall your MS is in English and Linguistics which honestly isn't well sort after. Nursing is a great field if you're willing to put in the work. Were you itted into a Bachelor or ADN program? Have you finished the prerequisites? That's where the issue lies. Elementary statistics isn't really elementary. An Adn would most likely take you 3 years if you're starting from fresh and since your background isn't in the sciences, it may not be too easy for you.

But if you can finish the program and get a nursing license, you'd be set. Another thing you should consider is if you can afford the program.

Aren't those expensive? I don't think they build the prerequisites into the programs if you haven't taken it already.

If you can afford it, go for it. Even I got into an ADN program as everyone was telling me to switch to nursing but after considering everything, i'd rather graduate from my Masters program and hope for the best.
