I will share a personal experience I had to Burkina Faso, a landlocked country with minimum development but Nigerians are being scammed daily with promises of a dollar paid job. Not many were lucky with their money intact, but I was lucky I discovered it immediately I got there. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

I met a girl who served in my state, for quite a while we haven't been chatting, so 3 months ago, she dropped a message, exchanging pleasantries. Let me go straight to the point. We started talking and she told me about a good opportunity in Burkina Faso which was convincing, the most enticing part was the company will your masters and you can have access to different countries both in Africa and the rest.which was the reason I took the bite. For myself I'm doing quite well as a young man, I own a company, web3 content writer and a crypto trader. So I needed to experience new thing that's why I embarked on this dangerous journey. She told me, her uncle has a slot and would keep one for me, I appreciated her and told her I will need sometime to think about it, I'd think about it but unlike me, I didn't do a deep research (that's was my first mistake) I got back to her, asking her series of questions, the name of the company and accomodation, she gave me a construction company, I will share a screenshot. I searched it, it was legit. She said the company, feed them twice a day and 24hrs light. "Wow" I said. After much persuasion, I keyed into the idea. I told her, I will need time to arrange some funds because what I have was a million plus and more. She told me, I will have to pay 1,743,400 (One million seven hundred and fourty three thousand, four Hundred naira) I said no problem. She asked if I had a valid international port, I said yes. She said I'm good to go. Last two weeks Tuesday, I Landed Lagos from my state because I took flight and I also asked her if I can take flight rather than going through road, she said no it's too expensive, I guess the plan was for me to bring enough money they can reap from me. My journey started from the local wing of the muritala Muhammad airport to badagry, I took an airport taxi to badagry 45,000 (fourty five thousand naira) and from badagry a bike guy was waiting for me to take me to seme border at Cotonou. While on the bike, the bike man was honest enough to ask me, what am I doing here, although it's none of his business, but a fresh guy like me shouldn't be on this road, he said one fascinating thing and I quote "anything beyond this border na scam" he said his job is to get paid and deliver whoever they sent for him. We had a lengthy conversation. (Red flags started showing but I always suppress it saying I should be positive) Sometimes one need to listen to their inner voice. When we got to seme border, he delivered me to a Benin republic exchanger according to her, the guy is a custom man.(He doesn't look any close to even a gate man) a dark slim, long face guy walked up to me shaking my hands after waiting for an hour because according to my supposed friend, he went to arrange a car to take me to Burkina Faso. While I was sited waiting for him, she always instruct me not to talk to anyone, if anybody ask me questions I should ignore. ( Second red flag but I suppressed it) After changing 210,000 (two hundred and then thousand naira) I was given 72,000 CFA, he will transport me to where I will buy bread, soft drink and water to take me through, I asked her, why am I buying this things, we could stop at any restaurant to take something, hope I'm not going through desert I jokingly said, she chuckled and said no. After the shopping, he took me to a Nigerian restaurant in Cotonou to eat, that was around 5:30 pm. after eating he rode me to the park where I can bored a car to Burkina Faso, all this activities looked like a pattern and transactional exchange from one person to another. When I arrived at the park, I was expecting to see a luxurious bus but I saw a dread lock chubby dark young man, could be in his early 30s jamming 9ja songs. He approached us, he so called custom guy, introduce him as manager. 11 Likes 1 Share |

Continue... Manager and the presume custom guy (which I found out, he's just a human smuggler) where communicating in french all I do is look like a dummy, after the conversation, he said bring money, I gave him all the money I had, he took 37,000 CFA, handed it to manager, he took 20,000 CFA and gave me the rest, he said, manager will take me to the car waiting. Manager took me a t were they drink their hot tea, I saw 2 other Nigerians also on the same mission with me, I said to myself, wow this Burkina Faso must be really a hot cake. We stayed for additional 3hrs before manager called on me, to bring my luggages. He asked me if I have a port, I said yes, he replied gukd just as pronounce with his accent. He showed us the car we're to use for the journey, it's a 2021 RAV4 tokunbo on a mission to be delivered in ougadogu,Burkina Faso to a buyer. I realized they use this drivers to smuggle mostly Nigerians through the border. My two other co travelers is a lady and a young man in a his late twenties, they had no port unlike me. I called my benefactor in Burkina Faso the lady (Neche) about the new development, she said I shouldn't talk to anyone, I should mind my business. I nodded like a baby lizard being advice by the mother. Our journey started, at 10:45 PM, the driver was skillful and fast, almost 2hrs during the journey my co travelers were already sleeping, I was awaked all through until we stopped at a toll gate in Benin republic to spend the night. 1 Like |

Continuation... Our journey continued as early as 5am in the morning so we could beat the traffic at the border. We finally arrived at Benin republic - Togo border, since I had a port, I was asked to stay in the car, while the other two were asked by the driver to get down and wait for a bike smuggle then behind the border on a bush track. Since the driver is using a uned car, he needs to get all the legal documents to transport the car across border, we waited for 8 hrs for everything to be ready. While waiting, I still got a follow up message from my Burkina Faso benefactor(Neche), asking me on updates and also reminding me not to talk to anybody and i should mind my business. After 8hrs we head towards the next border, which is the togolese - Burkina Faso border which took hours, if I'm not mistaken more than 8hrs. When we finally got to border, we slept at the border to resume the next morning. 15 Likes |

You're going from frying pan to fire.. so despite all the warnings of how people get sold to slave masters and organ harvesters, some of you still take the risk to follow strangers to places you're not sure of. smh. 11 Likes 1 Share |

flokii:seriously it's really From frying pan to fire. Beyond the border of Nigeria, there's no greener pasture. Our government deliberately keeps us this way so we can worship them. They know what to do. If Nigeria starts working, nobody will want to leave. Our government is very wicked. Even this poor country has basic amenities like water, light and quality food apart from that, their infrastructure is bad. Through out my travel across this countries, no light blinked. Government provide water and also good Telecommunication network even the most remote part, you will see network. 25 Likes 1 Share |

It's like a Ponzi scheme. It's a den for Boko haram. Boko haram slaughter people there. so I heard. 15 Likes 4 Shares |

As bad as Nigeria is, the only African country better than Nigeria is South Africa. I always assumed Nigeria to be the worst country in Africa till I did some traveling years back. The black man has failed completely.
