Is it time for Pastor Adeboye to retire and hand over the baton of leadership of RCCG to a younger Pastor? Some people feel he should continue until he goes to meet the Lord while others believe age is catching up with him which is affecting his judgement and talk!

Those who believe he should hand over feel that he has made some gaffes in recent times which shows he may be having age related mild cognitive decline. This is very common among octogenarians and was what necessitated President Biden of America to step down from contesting the last election.

According to these guys , they mentioned the below as some of his recent blips
1- My prayers with some of my church prevented the free fall of the Naira and if not for it, $1=10,000Naira.
2- God brought Covid to show the world He is God and after He is done showing people, Covid would disappear
3- Anybody that says or tries rubbish with my wife would die and not wake up on the resurrection day!
4- God please give Israel victory over the Palestines. He later deleted the message following outrage from people that he didn’t care about Christians in Palestine!
5- Nigeria’s economic problems are spiritual! Every one knows corruption and poor policies are the root causes!

Others have said Adeboye is a man of immense faith and trust in God! They believe God speaks to him as a favourite son and whatever he says is directly from the throne of Grace! They believe he can’t make mistakes! They believe he must continue as their leader until he breathes his last!

I strongly believe Pastor Adeboye is a great man of God with immense faith and love for Jesus! He is however human and just like all of us can make mistakes, fall ill and also have some age related decline in his cognitive abilities.

Do you think it’s time for him to hand over and have a deserved rest at 82yrs or he should keep soldiering on till he meets with Christ!

He is probably a covert narcissist.

He rather die , than relinquish that power.

Probably desires to hand over to his child but doesn't know how the people will take it. Afterall the person that handed over to him isn't his family member. Its not gonna be like winners this time around.

I agree, i thought his son died ? Transferring the wealth would be difficult because i am sure its all converted to personal wealth rather than church wealth.

There is something called transition in anything that will have continuity. He needs to retire appoint a succesor and monitor ively for smooth transition.

This "i die there" approach is what is killing Africans.

A bit of history, not a private enterprise.

Has Trump relinquished all his real estate properties because he was and about to be reelected as USA president?

He didn't "start" with him despite you reading from their history that RCCG was founded in 1952 and Adeboye ed RCCG in 1973 and ordained a Pastor in the Church in 1975.

If Adeboye is now the owner if the church, it means he stood with the man during the beginning.

He now owns it

No basis for comparison.
Trump owns business, Trump has been elected to another position totally unconnected to his personal belongings.
Is RCCG Adeboye's business 100% ? Adeboye is a pastor, he didn't win any public office.

Compare apples to apples.
I am another the assumption you have the intellectual capacity to have this conversation. If you dare mention such an absurd analogy again. I wont answer you.

From their history, he was appointed and is not the "owner' of the Church.

I just want to believe you don't struggle with a learning difficulty!

It is time indeed but as discussed in other threads, as soon as he leaves, Redeem as we know it will break into factions due to infighting.

Typical of Nigerians, there is no succession plan in place as he is probably enjoying the ones that report directly to him competing against each other to please him. This one is my personal opinion, I don't have proof.

What I am aware of are the plans in place (allegedly) by different pastors to carve out their own Redeem kingdom when he is gone.

Great franchise model, rubbish or non existent transition process.

That's a lie, there wont be any infighting, and if they fight they will survive. Saudi Arabia has over 50 princes in the house of al-saud, who are eligible to be crown prince. But the king has appointed who he wants and is watching him serve out his lifetime.

If Adeboye appoints someone to takeover, through a fair process, someone qualified, he can remain in the background and help that person consolidate power. All this if he hands over there will be in fighting is it not better for them to fight when he is alive to separate the fights ? If he dies suddenly, you think they wont fight ?

He has other sons. Including the last born, one fat boy that you'll know his weight is as a result of eating too much tithes.

That's if he appoints someone before he died. If he doesn't there's going to be serious chaos. The major glue holding that conglomerate together today is Adeboye.

I know adeboye is just scared that what will people say if he hands over to his child. Also what if he hands over to another and they don't favour his child.

Lots of pastors will definitely leave cuz everybody knows he isn't supposed to hand Iver to his child. It's not like any one of them has healing powers, it's just motivational talk.

Thats why he needs to have an active succession plan NOW.He is allowing chaos by waiting till he dies. And he will die, cause everyone dies

Is RCCG a monarchy ? Did Adeboye inherit it from his own father ?

You know typical Africans, we like holding on to things.
He's just wondering the backlash if he names his child as next GO.
Look at late odukoya and oyedepo, their kids are the next in line. But this RCCG it won't work like that cuz everyone knows he didn't start the church.

Lots will leave anyway regardless of who he hands over to.

Someone I know in the UK is a "board" member of a Redeem franchise. They moved from their location to another place in the city they were. I am not at liberty to say why.

Some stayed back, most followed. There were already at least two Redeem franchises were they moved to. Come and see very unchristian reaction from the other Redeem franchises. Rumour has it that the other franchises sponsored written opposition to the "planning permission" (or whatever the term is for them to apply to the equivalent of LGA over there to set up their church) for the new franchise.

Once Adeboye moves on, Redeem as we know it will be very different, markedly so.
