It was Lagos State under Tinubu's free education policy that took it a step further to start paying for both WAEC and JAMB registration forms for Lagos state secondary school students. SE students benefited from this policy as many rushed to Lagos to enroll in the Lagos state funded free public schools so that they can take advantage of the free WAEC and JAMB registration. Up till date no state in the SE offers free education talk more of purchasing both JAMB and WAEC forms for their students. This is the polar opposite of some one they have declared their messiah who when as governor jacked up school fees and saw to a prolonged strike of all education staff of his state's education staff from primary to university level. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

AntiZikist: True. A lot of Igbo students who are not even resident of Lagos State benefitted greatly as many of them seize the opportunity to visit their relatives residing in Lagos. I can say categorically that that single act by Tinubu tripled the population of Igbo in Lagos as many of them do not return home after the examination. Tinubu is a legend that his policy as a governor benefit other regions inhabitants. The records are there 19 Likes 1 Share |

Basic truth.. When it comes to electing visionless leaders, SE is ontop. They’re yet to produce any visionary governor since 1999.. Even back then during the era of regionalism, their then leaders were visionless. From Azikwe to Ojukwu to Ironsi, they couldn’t achieved anything significant for their people.. Azikwe - The visionless man came over to the west to beg the western premier leaders he would love to become the premier leader of the west. He knew he had no vision to develop his land. His lack of vision was also why he couldn’t secession clause back then, thereby making his people to be shouting Biafra or death today.. Ojukwu - Started a war without any viable strategy. He started a war based on Hatred, Painment, Ego, Entitlement mentality, greed & lack of common sense. At the end, 3m souls wasted! 19 Likes 1 Share |

Tinubu even gave non Yorubas appointment and employment into the Lagos state civil service while the likes of Obi as governor was sacking career civil servants of the Anambra state government on the basis of non indigenes. Ibos from other states were not spared and were sacked by the likes of Obi . This led to a case of reciprocacy between Abia and Anambra with the Abia state government sacking all Anambra indigenes from their state civil service . . 1 Like |

AntiZikist: 1. Anambra State: Free education began effectively in 2011 under Governor Peter Obi for public primary and junior secondary schools. 2. Imo State: Imo State is notable for implementing free education at all levels (primary, secondary, and tertiary) under Governor Rochas Okorocha (2011–2019). His istration covered tuition fees for students in public institutions. 3. Abia State: Abia State declared free primary and secondary education in 2015 under Governor Okezie Ikpeazu's istration. 4. Ebonyi State: Although not fully free, significant subsidies were provided during the tenure of Governor David Umahi (2015–2023) to reduce educational costs. 5. Enugu State: Free education initiatives, particularly at the primary school level, have been in place since the 2000s, with Governor Sullivan Chime (2007–2015) expanding funding to improve access. —--------------------------- 1. Imo State: During Governor Rochas Okorocha's istration (2011–2019), the Imo State government paid WAEC and sometimes UTME fees for students in public secondary schools. This was part of his free education policy. 2. Abia State: Under Governor Theodore Orji (2007–2015), Abia State covered WAEC fees for final-year secondary school students in public schools to promote higher enrollment in examinations. 3. Ebonyi State: At certain times, the Ebonyi State government subsidized WAEC fees for public school students, particularly under Governor Martin Elechi (2007–2015), as part of their educational programs. 4. Enugu State: Governor Sullivan Chime (2007–2015) occasionally provided financial for WAEC fees, although it was not a consistent statewide policy. 5. Anambra State: Governor Peter Obi (2006–2014) included payment of WAEC fees for public secondary school students as part of his educational reforms. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Oilwell: The highest social service ever rendered by a SE governor to their state citizen was by Ikpeazu when he paid each newly delivered nursing mother in every Abia state government hospital #500 cash . Ikpeazu also distributed 2 litres of kerosine to Abia citizens. That's about it. Obi's solution was to see to conducive environment for miracle centres and baby factories. |

1Alex: You lie because it was Obi that jacked up all school fees for all state government owned institutions from Primary up to University. This saw to many students dropping out as they could not afford to pay the new fees. Some had to leave the state to enroll in free govt paid institutions outside Anambra. Anambra has the highest school drop out rate in southern Nigeria with over 20% of children out of school as per latest data from STATISENSE 1 Like |

Free education in Lagos started in 1999 and is helping South East region to cumulatively achieve the highest primary and secondary school completiom rate in Nigeria. Likewise the Lagos free public primary education has been the reason children from Anambra, Imo and Enugu continue to have the top 3 highest cut off mark for decades in Nigeria for the national common entrance examination while the indigenes of Lagos and the surrounding states giving igbo children free education, their own children are expected to score less than igbo kids from those 3 states because the Federal government is aware that all brains are not equal😂😂😂😂. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

In summary, Yorubas benefit nothing from South East but Igbos are always rushing to benefit from South West policies because of "One Nigeria" and Yorubas don't discriminate.. They won't do for you, will always want to reap from what others are doing and still want to claim victim, that they want out of the "forceful" union. They won't forceful union when they enter buses with their nylon bags heading for South West. Na those wey dey give una face I blame. 1 Like |

AntiZikist: Peter Obi revolutionized education in Anambra State during his tenure as governor (2006–2014) through transformative policies and strategic investments aimed at improving access, quality, and outcomes in the sector. Here are the key ways he achieved this: 1. Return of Mission Schools Peter Obi returned schools previously taken over by the government to their original proprietors, mainly churches, which had a track record of better istration. This decision was backed by government funding to cover salaries and other expenses, enabling the institutions to function effectively while maintaining discipline, moral values, and educational standards. 2. Infrastructure and Resources His istration invested heavily in educational infrastructure, including: Building and renovating classrooms. Equipping schools with computers, internet connectivity, and laboratory equipment. Providing school buses to ensure ease of transportation for students. These initiatives helped modernize the learning environment and enabled better academic performance. 3. Funding and Scholarships Obi ensured consistent funding for both public and mission schools, covering teachers’ salaries and operational costs. Scholarships and programs for students further reduced financial burdens on families, particularly for those in disadvantaged areas. 4. Focus on Technology and Innovation He introduced ICT tools in schools, establishing Microsoft Academies in secondary schools, a first in Nigeria. This provided students with early exposure to technology and boosted their competitive edge. 5. Improved Academic Outcomes Under his leadership, Anambra State rose from 26th to 1st position nationwide in external examinations such as WAEC and NECO. Students from Anambra consistently topped national academic rankings, including winning international science competitions. 6. Collaboration with International Organizations Obi partnered with organizations like UNICEF and the World Bank to attract additional funding and expertise for the education sector. His model of reform was later recognized as a benchmark for educational development in Africa. These strategic interventions transformed Anambra State into one of the top-performing states in education in Nigeria, setting a standard for others to follow. 1 Like 1 Share |
