Ebonyi airport has gulped over 50b and has been commissioned twice but no Nigerian airline has agreed to flying to the state. Why are the airlines avoiding ebonyi state?

Ebonyi is a useless worthless backward state full of poor people, illiterates and miscreants. So ordinarily no airline would want to go to such state.

NwekereNdokl: In all honesty, Anambra State residents and indigenes has a higher number of middle and high income earners more than Ebonyi, yet most of them are complaining about the cost of flight to anambra airport, alot of them have chosen to travel by road. If alot of them who are supposed to fly now choose to travel by road that would mean anambra airport would be less profitable for airlines to fly to, now imagine what the story would be for Ebonyi state 4 Likes |

jjcena: What you all failed to know was the terrible state of the runway. Aircrafts could not manage with it, making the present governor to rebuild it. The are two airports available to Anambra people. One right there in the state and the Asaba airport, which is 20 minutes to Onitsha. The airlines are the problem and not the airports. Aside from Abuja and Lagos, eastern airports make more profits for the airlines and so they charge more. A enger flying to Kano from Lagos pays less than another flying to Anambra. The complaints have not helped in anyway. Anyhow dem do am, Christmas is a must for all easterners. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Apart from minning of lead and zinc and gravel stones that place is a ghost town, unless you want to buy lands you will sell in the next 10years u can go there you will make money. any other thing is zero, once the high institutions re on break it turns to a ghost town, a lot of yahoo boys has found the state as a safe heaven, ebonyi state has not produced a visionary leader tgis people re hard working and re good farmers , govt just need to bring in the right infrastructures in critical areas for pple to prosper, with the solid minerals in ebonyi state and tax of 1million for a truck since 2018, they dnt have any laboratory for analysis, the worst is that the pple te myopic and gullible that when this airport contract was awarded we said there were more critical things that can drive the economy of the state the money should be channeled to but the pple rained insults on us, today look at were they re.

What’s the poverty rate of Delta and Anambra compare to a backward useless worthless state like ebonyi that’s full poor people? Which people in ebonyi will use the airport? Have you wondered that no airline has interest in flying to ebonyi? It is because there’s no one in ebonyi that can afford flight tickets except politicians like your governor and commissioners. 0bjpmb: First tell us your level of education, as you sound like a poorly educated person. How do you determine a backward state please? Again please mention the names of the airports in Ekiti and Osun states. Tell us how Ekiti and Osun states are not backward and poor. Tell us your own state, if you are not ashamed. That way you can get an appropriate response. 2 Likes |

The Ebonyi Airport serves as a prime example of a white elephant project, marked by excessive maintenance costs and minimal economic returns. Its lack of viability is exacerbated by the fact that 90% of Ebonyi residents cannot afford air travel. Instead of prioritizing such costly endeavors, investments in human development and essential infrastructure would propel Ebonyi to become Nigeria's richest state. Inspiration can be drawn from the Governor of Niger State's initiatives in massive Rice farming. Key areas for investment include: 1. Free education from primary to university. 2. Free healthcare in state-run hospitals. 3. Vocational training for youths. 4. Empowering farmers through sustainable agricultural research and development. 5. Agricultural livestock (cattle, goats, pigs, poultry) 6. Crop farming (rice, cassava, palm oil, plantain, banana, mango, oranges, maize, sorghum, cowpea, groundnut oil, cashew, rubber, soybeans, coconut) 7. Essential infrastructure (borehole water in all villages) Currently, Ebonyi indigenes struggle to make ends meet, resorting to street hawking nationwide. The prioritization of grand projects over people-centered initiatives facilitates embezzlement of public funds. Leaders must adopt sustainable, people-focused approaches, avoiding white elephant projects resulting from: 1. Poor planning 2. Inadequate demand assessment 3. Misallocated resources. It's time for leaders to prioritize the well-being and prosperity of their people. 2 Likes |

Thank you for stating the facts. Ebonyi people are mostly illiterates, so it is always difficult for them to understand exactly what they need. And airport is the least of things that ebonyi needs. Gjrich: |

You are a big liar. Ebonyi people can and will not be make to afford it in the next 50 years at least. This is a total waste of taxpayers money. The major reason is for siphoning funds from the state.

It's unfortunate the airport is yet to commence operations but maybe i'm one of a few who still believe the airport isn't a waste and would eventually prove to be a asset to the state and its economy! All we need is for Nigeria to be restructured back to at least pre-'66 settings, and things will finally take off (pardon the pun ![]() |

Respond to my request and prove what was requested. Tell us your state and let's make comparisons. Only poorly mannered youths like you, who do not even know about your own surroundings use isults as your escape routes in decent discussions. If you cannot, them know that you are an olodo, to put it that way that best describes you. |

1. It’s a white elephant project. It may be deserted or converted to a factory in the coming years. Or simply a mega train station connecting to Enugu, PH, Calabar, benue etc. 2. It’s very malicious and wicked to blame the entire Ebonyi people for this project solely initiated and executed by the ex governor. 3. Made some calls and found out some ebonyi people are still in court against the project. 4. The much I know about ebonyi people, they have never been in any competition with their sister states or anyone in Nigeria. So why do other people always use this kind of opportunity to bash them? 5. Dave Umahi, the current minister for works was the ex governor who initiated the project without consultation. Same pattern he is using now as a minister. Why blame Ebonyi people for his actions? How often do we blame Nigerians for buhari or tinubus actions? 6. Ebonyi need to do more in education, health and human empowerment. But always bashing them just to stroke your ego is plain dumb. I can’t imagine a Nigerian bashing another Nigerian. You need to to step out of the country once in a while to really understand that laughing at your fellow Nigerian is stupidity…. Take it or leave it; all Nigerians living in Nigeria with all the noise, insecurity, hunger, hatred, scorching heat, low standard of living etc are very miserable human beings. 3 Likes |
