A former first lady of Ondo State, Mrs Betty Akeredolu has described Nigeria as Irredeemable and a zoo.

The widow of the late Gov Rotimi Akeredolu, said these while comparing the US presidential election to Nigeria’s 2023 general election.

In a recent post on X, Mrs Akeredolu compared the period it took to count and announce winners in both polls.

“When dishonesty is prioritised, simple things become difficult,” she said of Nigeria’s election."

“2023 Nigerian Presidential Election: Total Votes Cast: 25 million, Counting Duration: 5 days. 2024 U.S Presidential Election: Total Votes Cast: 155 million. Counting Duration: Approx. 10 hours.”

In another post, she said, “I made an honest but harmless observation on Nigerian and US presidential elections. Twitter is now on fire. Truth hurts and hurts with tribal colouration”.

“If the 2023 election presidential benefitted you as an individual or group, was that the best Nigeria could offer? Alas, they turned it into a tribal war of words. Nigeria is irredeemable! So sad,” she added.

“Very bitter indeed! Who will rescue Nigeria? What a zoo country!”

Meanwhile, Nigerians on X have lambasted Mrs Akeredolu and expressed disappointment at her using such unpatriotic words on a Country that she has hugely benefitted from.

Aketi was a fine gentleman but he wasn't totally innocent due to the nature of the society, she and her late husband, Aketi benefitted from the rot in the system. Aketi's election for second term wasn't without the usual Nigerian factor that she has now chosen to play a hypocrite on. Tinubu and Aketi's agreement was, help me win my second term in office and I will back you for the presidency and we all know what happened. We all heard how agents were moving from house to house before dawn on election day in the 2020 Ondo gubernatorial poll with food package and money, distributing them to electorates to buy votes for APC. APC and this ungrateful woman's husband won, all was sweet and okay for her then but now that Aketi is dead, she wants to tarnish the man's legacy by attacking his people who love him more than she can ever love the man.

I saw her as a grieving widow who should be tolerated but you can't call my country a zoo and also refer to my people who also happen to be her children's people as ofe nmannu. Ibos can never be cured of the hatred in their heart sha.
