I buy Saffron sometimes to make Seafood Paella and they always come in a little container thingy that's very easy to topple over when opening and when using. It seems many brands package them awkwardly like this. What I do is put the lil' container into a ziploc bag right after opening and I take them out from there. At least if any strands will fall, they will fall in there. Try that next time you buy it.

this made me LOL. Gotta get it from the Asian shops for great price and quality. Amazon has a couple of excellent sellers too if no local stores, but you have to shift through a lot of garbage saffron.
