There's no human sympathy in business

All these people saying all these things, can they leave their salaries for the organization or take half pay if the organization they work for is finding it difficult to pay Why won't they take pay cuts or say no worry boss, when money coke, make you pay us,we are humans... when you keep doing humanity in business, you go fold up... when they were knacking and enjoying it,they no say bills dey come, they had 9 months to also plan for the bills too.... where I am against the doctor is not allowing people to help offset the bills

This one is looking for cheap publicity and at the same time, blaming the doctor. The doctor is in business and nothing more. What plan did the family put in place to offset their bills? Or were they expecting the doctor to discharge them without paying. Nairalanders are already castigating the doctor. The bill increased for each day the twins and the mother spent in the hospital. That's how it works. If your bill is 20k and you fail to pay, after one week, it would get to 30k as long as you are being sheltered in the hospital

If that Doc shows you hunting bills after his life, you'd be shocked. Sincerely running hospitals is not beans. By the time you begin the work and you start to pity people by doing charities, by the time hunger and bills set in, and ingratitude of some patients (major thing), cos some could be so mean, na that time the doc go begin to think say nobody gets this monopoly of craze na, and na that time folks go begin blame am. Abeg docs dey try.

I'm sure you didn't read this part;

"The activist narrated that his team wasn’t the first to come for the discharge of the twins but the doctor kept hiking the delivery charges in order to make it difficult for whoever came for their release."

We need health insurance policies to prevent such occurrences. It is really a difficult situation to be in for both parties. I can imagine the backlash if medical service was refused by the hospital in the first instance.
Nothing concern poor man with insurance

Shut your dirty mouth there.

The Doctor was looking at stealing those twins and selling them

How much was the bill that the doctor was willing to detain the mother for 6months in his hospital after delivery ?

And same Doctor was jacking the bills daily so as to make it impossible for the mother to pay the bills.

The Doctor knew the girl was poor and that she is a single mother. He wanted to force her to hand over her babies to him from where he will sell them for profit.

Go and read how it took the intervention of the State Commissioner of Police to release both mother and babies.

Joke apart, some people are seriously mean..the way people value this money makes wonder if there is something more to it than what I know.

Money is all that some people live for, zero conscience when money is involved as if money can buy them everlasting life. May god almighty bless u for this comment. There is hope for this nation with people like u still in existence

At least you can compromise your money making policy to contain humanity In certain situations.

I dey desperately look for money but I always get my conscience in check...

No matter how much we get, one day we go kpai leave the money behind the only thing we will have intact is how we lived our lives as we present ourselves to the owner of life to receive our reward according to our works .

You are defending this obvious human trafficking doctor who saw a rare opportunity to steal those babies from the poor young single mother.

The Doctor did all he could to frustrate the mother towards handing the twins to him in return for medical bills

His do you explain that it took the intervention of the to get the doctor to accept a revised bill and discharge both mother and twins?.

God bless you so much for this Sir. Health insurance policies now!

I had an experience with someone here some months ago. He had appendicitis and was booked for surgery at a private practice. The amount should be about 150-200k, I can't really . This guy was a young person who had left the village hoping to find better life in the city so he could gather money and established his business cos he learnt some handiwork according to him.

This guy left the hospital willingly and was at home wriggling in pain, refused to call home because according to him, none would even come to his aids cos they're even expecting from him and not them him now. So he decided to come home that he would rather die here than go home.

You know on a norm, once you're a medical student and you have few people around that you guys just talk a bit somehow, they begin to call you doc, doc. So one of these people who happened to know the guy called me and hearing his story I was really touched. I made some calls and visits to some of my ogas that really understands how life could deal with people and pleaded with them here in our TH, we were able to hook the guy on a program from a donor/ppp health insurance. At the end, it only costs us 15k.

If I had the power, I would make sure there is compulsory health insurance for everyone in the country and make sure there is enough awareness regarding it, enough actions. People shouldn't die anyhow over diseases that are won battles already. And people don't need to suffer at the hospitals!

The Doctor on his own side isn't guilty either from a professional level but however there are limits of how long he should hold onto the twins but thank God for his divine intervention

You're stupid there's wasn't any report of the doctor treating the mother or the babies badly the doctor just want his money to protect his business... The doctor could've easily inject the mother and take the babies if he wanted but he didn't and after 6 months the mother and babies went straight home and not to another hospital because the doctor and his staff have been caring for them and that cost the doctor money everyday for six months....tell the stupid activist and the to clear those bills

Enough with this shallow view. Most Private Hospitals don't run charity. They will shut down in days if many people stop paying their bills. The workers can't get paid, the supplies for hospital needs can't be bought, entitled individuals like you flock such hospitals with the hope they will be let go after all humanity is more important than making money.

Let me tell you what is more humane : Not bringing kids you can't even afford to pay their basic hospital bills to the world. A pregnant woman has at least 7 months to plan for the birth of their bab(ies). It is quite unfair to give birth to babies you have no plan for. Government must start finding ways to punish people who do that, it is this anyhowness that gave birth to loads of Almajiri and banditry in the North.

I have less tolerance for people that can't pay pregnancy/ giving birth bills, it is rarely an emergency. It is a system of anyhowness and hiding under poverty. Use a condom or contraceptive pills if you think you can't take care of giving birth to babies. Giving birth to baby is sacred, what if there are complications and she dies in the process of giving birth, because doctor refuse to treat. When we start realising the gravity of our decisions, we start making better decisions.

If those people going for the discharge were serious, they would have raised the money. The money the foolish activist is spending to visit commissioner of police up and down could have settled part of the bill. You didn't consider the fact that the doctor will reject the next person in labour without significant deposit. You guys really think it is easy to run a hospital. You think the nurses will hear story that the salaries are not paid because they were doing credit or you think they sell oxygen on credit. You think government buys fuel for the hospital? Only God knows what is wrong with Nigerians. Someone saved a life with his personal resources, you are here talking rubbish. You think the doctor operated him for free? Apart from the cost of the operation, the cost of taking care of two babies and mother after child birth. You are here talking about foolish fundamental human right.

Next time, the doctor will just tell them they don't have oxygen needed for operation and without 300k deposit, they can't buy it. It is you that will still come and cry blood when a woman dies in labour after being rejected by multiple hospitals for lack of deposit.

Nigeria won't work with this your mentality. If you can't pay maternity bills, use condom. This is not an accident or emergency. You planned it and had 9 months. Use condom. The doctor is not your family that will be responsible medically and financially for your delivery.

There is a reason for 'Professional ethics.'

This Doctor's action clearly violates all Professional ethics and business ethics.

His "inherent behaviors" in this matter is wrong and must be condemned.

Just as it is hard for businesses, it's even harder for most individuals.

You are saying rubbish. The professional ethics guiding medicine SPECIFICALLY STATED THAT THE DOCTOR IS ENTITLED TO HIS PROFESSIONAL FEE AND COST OF TREATMENT .

There is no ethic that says that the doctor should pay your bill or work for free.

"The money the foolish activist is spending to visit commissioner of police up and down could have settled part of the bill" for you, it's ok for the doctor to keep "hiking the delivery charges in order to make it difficult for whoever came for their release."

So it's fine for someone to give you a bill, you managed to raise the money only for the other party to hike the bill each time you managed to raise the initial amount?

Yes, let him reject! It's better to reject those who can't afford his bill than to turn around and exploit them.

When you own an enterprise that demands input of funds for effective operations then you'll understand the differences between charity and business. The hospital did what they were supposed to do and the activist did what humanity ought to do.
