When you're sent to deliver a package, you get to the door and ring the bell. When no response,
you then call the recipient. You don't sit in your car & call the recipient to come collect it at your car's door. What if you're a kidnapper or assassin.
That aside, I understand the lawmaker felt disrespected by the driver's unprofessionalism but he could have reacted in a more civil manner esp knowing he's suppose to be showing example. It's better he apologizes & respect any disciplinary action within his party or house of rep and also be ready for any assault charge.

A Federal Lawmaker, representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly has allegedly assaulted a bolt driver in his compound in Abuja.
In a video seen by 9News Nigeria, the Bolt driver said he went to deliver something to the Lawmaler but he took offence and assaulted him just because the he asked the him to come to the car to pick up his package, which is snails he ordered from a vendor.
In the video, the lawmaker can be seen slapping the driver multiple times. Later the driver asked him "did you just slap me three times?", which je replied, "twice and you will soon receive the third slap".
Also, in the video, Ikwechegh was heard telling the vendor that he can make the driver disappear and nothing will happen.
"I can make you disappear in the whole of Nigeria and nothing will happen. Do you know who I am?".
"I am a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and I can lock you up in my Generator House and nothing will happen," Ikwechegh said in the viral video.
He also said he won't ask the police officers protecting him to beat up the driver but will do it himself.
Meanwhile, the action has generated a mixed reaction on the social media.
A Facebook Ogochukwu said ;" This is very disappointing coming from a Lawmaker but again it also shows that a lot of our elected political office holders should have no business in governance."
"Imagine getting this violent because the bolt driver asked you come to the car and get your package. Imagine what he will do if it is a very serious offence committed against him."
Why can't he just bring out the parcel and hand it over to the man?

What's the duty of the bolt driver in this particular transaction? Was it a delivery service or just the usual transport service? If it was purely a transport service, then the recipient was suppose to come get it from the car himself. If it was delivery service, then the bolt driver was meant to hand it over at the doorstep of the recipient. This is strictly how such businesses are done. The driver can decide OUT OF HIS DISCRETION to blur the lines between the two just to hasten and smoothen the transaction by delivering to the doorstep but some things may discourage him from doing so. The recipients attitude may discourage him. His experience on the job may have taught him to abide strictly to leaving recipients to handle their orders by themselves to avoid accusing him of distorting the quality of whatever was in the package. This is strictly if his duty was just to transport the package to the recipient and not to deliver it. If it was a delivery service, the bolt driver goofed by not taking the package to the doorstep of the recipient. In this case, the recipient can either ignore his poor customer service and get the package either way or he refuse to take it which will force the bolt driver to return it back to the sender.
Irrespective of whatever the driver might have said, the lawmaker goofed on this one by hitting him and refusing to pay him his money. The least he could have done was to reject the package if he was too pissed off by the driver. Alex Ikwechegh has no right whatsoever to slap the bolt driver and deny him his pay for service delivery after he had taken the package from him. He deserves to be punished for this.

I get your point but in this situation, the bolt driver agreed to do a delivery work. He agreed to pickup the package and deliver it to whoever. The work of a delivery person is to handover package, and not tell a recipient to pickup their items from their vehicles.

I am not frustrated. My goal is to make sure senseless people know what they are. A human was subjected to assault and inhumane treatment and all your brain could conjure up was a scenario in which he was probably the aggressor.
And somehow you expect people to take you seriously.
