descarado: Stop engaging a corruption infested fellow who calls right wrong and wrong right. Can't you see that he refuses to acknowledge the impact of corruption in the Nigerian society. Please forget them. 1 Like |

A country as big as Nigeria should not be relying on national grid for distribution to every state. Power stations should be decentralised such that each state can be independent of the other

Sapeleboy911: Corruption exists because the government owns or totally controls the electricity sector. Good Luck to Nigeria 2 Likes 1 Share |

Summary: Raise the price higher to the point that solar is cheaper and people just go and help themselves (as usual without depending on government). Private sector without regulations would aim for maximum profit so they would find their highest value customers and provide for them alone. That's what I would do. Band A+ and Band A max... nairalanda1: 1 Like 1 Share |

nairalanda1:and I ask you again how many billions did these Africa countries use to stable power. A single shame you lots dont have

headboyprince: If you notice something about those countries most of them have one thing in common, they privatized power and allow power to be sold at market price. I have already mentioned the example of Ivory coast, no 3 on your list, but to cut a long story short, they used to have blackouts 40 years ago. Today they do not, because they privatized power, allowed power to be sold at market price. In return the World bank was very very willing to help them with lots of investments and loans in their power sector. Egypt has removed power subsides since 2014. Nigeria has not done that. 2 Likes |

nairalanda1: Oga.. Park well ... Nothing is bitter here ... Let those at the top cut the cost of governance... And their stealing ....and do the right thing... D level of profligacy by Naija leaders is depressing... Buhari wasted $19 billion dollars on non functioning refineries... Ajaokuta Steel mill gulped $10 billion dollars for a steel mill thats non functional.... Same Ajaokuta Mill still get N4.2billion Naira budget in 2024 budget.. Na so dem dey budget for am each year ... Abandoned Tinapa project gulped $450million dollars... Ebonyi Airport and Jigawa’s Dutse International Airport are white elephant projects... The completed N36billion airport recorded zero enger traffic in a year. Jigawa dutse Airport gulped a total of 20billion, recorded a zero enger traffic in a whole year Rivers State monorail on which N33.9 billion already spent was abandoned... the N600 million Minna Airport City project also abandoned.... Mambila HydroPower Plant gulped $5.8 billion dollars also abandoned...... Roughly US $1.26 billion – or .35 per cent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product .... was paid in cash bribes to public officials in 2023... Why do masses have to bear the brunt of inability of leasders to properly define social challenges... and relieve masses sufferings... ?. |

It’s because we loan the money. If we generated it, politicians would have either stolen the funds or put in a little maintenance. Make una suffer dey go. Wise people switch to solar long ago.

Why won't the grid (or anything else, for that matter) collapse when 90% (if not even 99.9%) of the money taken as loans ends up in pockets of few?

faceland:you're a big fool. Aren't people already generating their own power with generators. Do you know what its costing them .they already increase prices to 1000 for 4 units more than most countries with 24/7. Their ripping you off and gaslighting you and you clap for them. 1 Like |

headboyprince: The cost of power for 80% of Nigeria is below N100 per kwh. Calm down . |

headboyprince: The thieves say they want to charge you the price that people who import gas from Russia charge, at international rate (so their children can waste the subsidy money in Europe) some are here defending them. Currently solar is cheaper than NEPA just the set-up is expensive... And currently with the so called grid collapse, if your governor needs light urgently right now, he can pay through the back door and the state would get power right now (despite the collapse). What have we gained for being a citizen of an oil producing nation where they flare gas? What I wrote earlier was to point out how ridiculous that defenders POV is and where they are really heading to. |
