Nine PDP Governors Endorse Suspension of Damagum, Appoint Alhaji Yayari Ahmed Alaghi as New Acting Chairman

In a major development aimed at reinforcing internal cohesion within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), nine state governors from the party have collectively endorsed the suspension of Iliya Damagum from his role as Acting National Chairman.

The decision came following a virtual meeting held yesterday, where the governors unanimously approved the appointment of Alhaji Yayari Ahmed Alaghi the current PDP National Treasurer, as the new Acting National Chairman.

According to an aide to one of the governors, the move is intended to strengthen party unity and ensure strict adherence to the party’s constitution.

The governors in attendance included: Governor Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers State); Governor Douye Diri (Bayelsa State); Governor Godwin Obaseki (Edo State); Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori (Delta State); Governor Agbu Kefas (Taraba State); Governor Dauda Lawal (Zamfara State); Governor Peter Mbah (Enugu State); Governor Ademola Adeleke (Osun State) and Governor Pastor Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom State).

Key Resolutions reached at the meeting were unanimous endorsement of Iliya Damagum’s suspension and approval of Alhaji Yayari Ahmed Alaghi as the new Acting National Chairman.

The governors also reaffirmed commitment to upholding the PDP’s constitution and resolving internal conflicts through formal party channels while emphasizing their dedication to the party’s progress.

“The governors reaffirm their commitment to building a stronger, more united PDP, prioritizing the party’s interests above individual agendas,”

the statement read.

The suspension of Damagum is expected to take immediate effect, with continued dialogue between party stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition.

You will be surprised that PDP will not field any candidate in 2027 as Wike will beat them silly in court. If you dont know, it was Wike that made beating Alimodu Sheriff possible. At the last minute, the Supreme court will throw them under the bus for disobeying the court order

When those legislators in Rivers state a few months back said they were leaving the tattered umbrella party because of internal crisis, some oblivious minded things said it was a lie, that there is no crisis in The Pdp?

Quite obvious that you know very little.

I said it earlier in one of thread here, that pdp were using wisdom against wike, they left him and his stooge chairman unchecked all this while because of the development in river states, they knew that if they axe wike to early, he will find ground to cause crisis in pdp and use that as excuses to justify the defection of river lawmakers, who he intended to use and impeech fubara, now that wike have lost all the battles, it's time to axe him and all his moles in pdp.

Damagun is acting as a chairman, he wasn't elected by Congress, so he can be suspended based on anti party activities, until he face disciplinary measures to clear himself.

Our Courts have no business in intra-party matters.
In this case, none of them was elected Chair ... So what will the Court decide?
Again, Damagum wasn't elected National Chairman so nobody is tampering with his position. He should go back to his Deputy National Chairman North.

Funny enough the party's constitution states that you can not act more that 90 days and Damagun as acted more than 90 days. He is suppose to return back to his position
