Gaslighting people into accepting obvious lopsidedness that ironically won't be tolerated by the people defending it is the greatest folly I've had to contend with in recent time. Even in marketing, you must study the culture, politics and sentiments of people where you do business or intend to establish a venture as a deviation from their reality has potential of spelling doom for business growth. Bbnaija must correct the lack of fairness and transparency in their selection process, our diversity must be seeing to be reflected in the conduct of their dealings, otherwise, the show will sink deeper into bottomless pit with no room to salvage it. 7 Likes |

creolehunt: Are you saying in a house of 28 housemates ...having at least 4 from each geo-political zone is a herculean task that cannot be achieved? It shows u guys intentionally play ignorant.... How can auditioning and selection be that difficult to crack? Why are all continents equally represented in world Cup...same for Olympics... Why make the qualification for these games continental? Isn't it to ensure representation of all continents... Then innocentdude will come here and be acting ignorant on why having 60% of housemates being igbo isn't lopsided and shouldn't be spoken on... Are they the only region with contestants that can qualify ? Oya answer..... 3 Likes |

scondy: Now that you have mentioned Big Brother Africa, There was about 14 participating countries and they were South Africa Zambia Zimbabwe Botswana Malawi Rwanda (ed in last season) Angola Mozambique Namibia............... Southern Africa Nigeria Ghana Sierra Leone/ Liberia (Not always regular, in fact only appeared once each for the 9 seasons)........West Africa Kenya Tanzania Uganda Ethiopia.............East Africa Determining a winner is by countries won and not by most votes cast and each of the participating Country counts as 1 then there's what they call 'All over Africa ' for the none participating countries and they only count as 1 vote. Do you think it was fair that way? NB: This naration is only because you cited Big Brother Africa as an example. 1 Like |

scondy: I am neither Igbo nor Yoruba For the few years I have watched bbn, I have never considered tribe a problem Most people are open minded and just want to enjoy the show…. Some, however, are intent on creating tribal bias … just as being done by you now. People are picked based on what they are judged to offer, albeit sometimes wrongly selected…. I don’t think the people who select from the audition go there with the mindset of accepting a particular tribe. Like someone rightly pointed out, maybe they should pick one person from all Local government areas in the country to demystify the tribal agenda being propagated. 2 Likes |

Gbadoboy: Do u know at the end of the day, what killed the show was when voting became regional? So at the end of the day, the issue of bias became a major issue that killed the show. Maybe BbTitans should have had only 4 Nigerians...what would you all say? 2 Likes 1 Share |

In a predominantly white country, if there is an intent to train 5-year-olds for future elite marathon careers, the Kenyan or Ethiopian child in the class will likely be chosen over any white child. Similarly, if the goal is to train for Olympic sprint events like the 100 or 200 meters, children of West African descent will be favored over their white peers. In contrast, an average white child has a better chance of being selected for a swimming competition than an average Black child. Despite America’s rivalry with China, Asian-Americans tend to be favored to represent the U.S. in table tennis or global math competitions. List the top 10 girls considered to be pretty on the show from each season in no particular order an the average viewers will mention: Kim Oprah- Igbo Erica- Igbo Nengi- Bayelsa Maria- Igbo Venita- Delta T-boss- Edo Victoria - Igbo Kassia - Bayelsa Beauty - North Saskay- North Those with peculiar facial features and exotic beauty seem to come from the Northern minorities who are Christians. I'm not saying that those from the aforesaid regions in Southern Nigeria are the prettiest, nope. There are thousands of pretty tall, sexy Hausa-Fulani babes "littered" across Abuja but they're not going to audition because they're majorly Muslims and even if they do audition, no sane audition team is selecting a pretty Fulani babe into a house with cartons of alcoholic drinks and handsome Bachelors ready to kiss their lips and suck their nipples during a truth/dare game. We've seen how Kannywood actresses are tortured for revealing skin and how most Northern states do not even produce their indigenes to represent in "Miss Nigeria" contest. Islamic conservatism reduces participation from Northern regions, leaving Southern Nigeria as the primary demographic pool for such shows. Whether it's a show like Keeping up with the Kardashians or Love Island, good looks are essential to attracting viewers. Among male contestants, Yoruba housemates such as Tobi, Mike Edwards, Seyi, and Sheggz have advanced far in these BBN, partly due to their physical appeal. Conversely, contestants like Dami and Toyosi were eliminated early, due to a lack of immediate appeal. Week 1 relies heavily on appearance, as viewers have not yet formed opinions on contestants' personalities. When thinking of the most successful Yoruba female housemate, Bisola often comes to mind. While she advanced far due to her talent, her appearance played a lesser role in her selection. Even Laycon, who won the show, secured victory largely through sympathy votes, not because of his looks. Ultimately, the selection process for Big Brother Naija places a significant emphasis on appearance, as they are designed for entertainment, not talent competitions like America's Got Talent. Consequently, regions with a higher perceived concentration of attractive individuals tend to dominate the show. 1 Like |

Do u really think Hausas will come out for a show like big brother, a show thats is perceived to be an immoral show, why do u think its rare to see a Muslim housemate.. scondy: You're comparing a private enterprise with the WC? I genuinely expect better, Tetes. Anyway, do you realise that SW produced 25% of the Housemayes while some regions didnt produce any? Why then are youn digging out the South Easterners when you too are a beneficiary of the acclaimed lopsidedness? Again, as a private enterprise, the producers surely know what they are looking for and this is geared at profit maximization. 3 Likes |

scondy:Well some people having more participants matter in BB Africa because Africa was one or at least presumed one. In BB Titans there were 2 different countries. In BBNaija, Naija is one so the production did not care to use federal character in selecting participants and voting is not by region. |

C'mon this is a faceless forum, no one is going to shoot you.. You know what Scondy?? If d show will hold next, go to ur village and other western state and beg them to audition. Aguwanyi:Hello former teamy. Let's look at it this way, there's really no way everyone from all 6 regions wouldn't have auditioned, but it's left to the organisers to pick them. Saying Scondy should go to her region and the north to bring people out to contest, doesn't really add up, cos it's still subject to the selection process. I think her angle is that if you say you need 28 Nigerians, because of how peculiar our situation is that one tribe (North, South and West) would always cry marginalization, then the organisers could have set that criteria 28 People right? Divine by 6, let's pick 4 people per region. The organizers can do that if they choose. For instance, the constitution has made it mandatory for all presidents to pick minimum of 37 ministers. No matter how much Tinubu hates other tribes that he now decides to favour Yoruba more, he presently has 6 Igbo ministers because the constitution says all states must bring 1 minister.. Same with the Senate. The constitution says 109 Senators and 3 from each state, no matter how big Kano is compared with small Ebonyi State, both have 3 senators representing respectively. That's the angle, I believe Scondy is coming from. Organisers can balance things if they want and not be like what President Tinubu's doing now appointing based on tribal sentiment 2 Likes |
