I had my NYSC in Opobo town 20 years ago. LG Chairmen in ONLGA never stay in Opobo. They stay in PH and only come in when payments are about to be made. Now that there's a road network to Opobo, maybe things have changed.

The situation on ground in Rivers state is totally different. Obaseki had some LG chairmen, but obaseki does not have the people overwhelmingly, Obaseki does not have political heavy weights in edo on his side, Obaseki does not have all the political thugs on his side, political jobbers have not too much incentives to align with Obaseki because he is not the one that will shake the cake in the next 4 years, the president does not really have so much to lose in Edo State.

In Rivers case, Fubara has the overwhelming of the people, the godfathers, the thugs, the political jobbers and even the militants, which is where the presidency is also being careful, because the presidency also needs some vote from Rivers come 2027. Lots of Forces against Wike in Rivers, the only thing he has is the alignment with presidency, unfortunately the presidency cannot wield that power too much
