Please help me choose between these nine cars. My focus is a bit of sophistication and reliability. I don't want the Camry and Lexus ES / RX. Those cars are everywhere and I feel the high demand makes them disproportionately expensive.

I prefer something that stands out a bit. Note, I'm a first-time car buyer as well as a first-time driver. I've driven before, but not frequently because the cars weren't mine. So, please help me choose between these nine:

2010 Honda Crosstour EX-L - offered at 10 million niara

2015 Ford Focus - Offered at 9 million naira

2013 Acura MDX - Offered at 9 million naira

2008 Infiniti G35 Sport - Offered at 6 million naira

2010 Ford Edge - Offered at 6 million naira

2012 Chevrolet Malibu - To be shipped from abroad (estimated overall cost: 9.5 million naira)

2014 Land Rover LR2 - To be shipped from abroad (estimates: 12 million naira)

2013 Chrysler 200 - To be shipped from abroad (estimate: 10.5 million)

2011 Buick Enclave - To be shipped from abroad (estimate: 12 million naira)

Please, note all the cars are claimed to be toks, not Nigerian used. All the pictures are for demonstration purposes except the White Infiniti G35 Sport- that's the actual car.

There is a reason the cars being rejected by youare on high demand in Nigeria.

These cars you listed here are very expensive to maintain unlike the the ones you are rejecting.

Do your research well bro!

Thank you for your input. This post is part of my research na. Would you say the Acura MDX and Honda Crosstour are more expensive to maintain than the Lexus ES and RX models?

Parts availability and cost are the factors driving the high demands of those cars being rejected by you.
Availability of Car Mechanics specifically in Nigeria, is another of the numerous factors including fuel consumption. These are the main factors to look into when buying especially a used car in Nigeria.

Okay, thanks. Believe it or not, you've actually influenced my decision. Do you think the Crosstour is good at that price (10 million naira)? The one I'm checking out has a claimed 75k miles on the odometer and looks neat.

bro when u want to get a car u pick many like u have done n narrow it down with some of your personal spec

N also consider some options for easy use
Availability of spare parts
Durability
Reliability
Fuel consumption
Common problems associated with each brand
2nd hand value( if u want to sell n upgrade, is it marketable)
How about availability of specialist(good mechanics)
Among others

Just don't buy based on "I think I like this car" thing, run your check well cos as for me if u give me brand new Murano Jeep na to sell am ooo cos of Wetin I don see, same with EOD

Thank you. That's why I'm trying to pick your brains concerning the reliability, availability of parts, etc. So far, it seems the Crosstour and MDX are the preferred candidates by far. No one has even mentioned the American brands like Chrysler 200 and Chevrolet Malibu.

My Dear Brother, Please I beg You in the name of Jesus, Please buy those/any Pure-water Car you mentioned. E get why.

Now also, secondly, never try to stand out in Nigeria with a Car. There is a reason why You will stand out with the car. It's not everywhere abi, and no one is using it(if You find out why it is so, You will cry afterwards).

Pure water cars are there/so because the parts will hardly fail, You will hardly visit mechanic.

Please I beg You, in summary, any single car that You see as pure water(overly overly common on Nigerian roads), please buy it.

Thank you Sir.
Well done.

(Japanese: Toyota/Honda , maybe Korean, and maybe any other model from another brand that's pure water on the street)

(Apart from His declaration in His write-up, OP is clearly a super super beginner grin)

Crosstour is the most reliable on that list. Whatever you do, don’t buy the Focus

Op, looking at the listed vehicle, it means you are doing fine now and likely to maintain that status, or even improve in the next years ahead. My choice considering family, availability of part, availability of mechanics and re-sale value with time buy HONDA CRV 2013 OR 2014 EXL with K24 or Earth dream engine couple with Non CVT automatic transmission.
Research more about this model and you are not going to regret now or in future.

If you must then go for it. The dollar exchange rate to the naira has made everything super inflated in prices

Except for the ford focus, I believe the rest on the list of interest all carries 3.5 lt v6 engine.
If you want easy to maintain car, I will suggest the Ford followed by crosstour then mdx. Parts are easily available. Mdx gives more luxury and comfy drive than others and it's awd.
If gas price wouldn't be a problem for you, then I recommend the mdx for that comfy, classy and affordable midsize suv experience.
Anyways, goodluck at your purchase and safe drives.

Yes, I'm a super super beginner 😁. But our people say whoever questions don't lose their way. 🙂 I've heard what you said. Chai, what Toyota have done to this country ehn. Now we're all forced to take the so-called pure water because they're the only ones with available parts and mechanics understand. Na dis month I go bite the bullet, anyway. Crosstour or MDX. The MDX I saw is very neat and it's the Technology trim. If I get there in person and they show me another car, I'll leave.
