Okay.
This one is just to check how much light you consume. Is not the normal meter, abi?
udeh3:
I will advice anyone sharing metre to buy a personal "CHECK METRE". This is not the regular metre, but, a check metre. It measures your energy consumption. Once you know your energy consumption, then, you have the idea of the amount to pay

You can also suggest to the landlord or facility mgt company to install Check metres for all tenants or occupy, thereby, everyone pay for what they consumes while sharing on Metre

How? I have never heard of this.
"Prepaid meter is immovable"?

I use to hear about people that pack out of the house with their meter!
gratiaeo:

Prepared meter is immovable, it's ed with house number
Love800(m): 1:50pm On Oct 03, 2024
Is this one a meter also?
sarujaSA:

Yes, you can calculate your usage by installing sub metering which is called extra and mind you, you cannot take the meter away from the house it was ed in
Trendy247: 1:52pm On Oct 03, 2024
Love800:
You cant take it along with you when parking out?
Pls, explain the "not movable"?
Yes it's a criminal offense to take it along with you while parking out. The best thing to do is to negotiate with the landlord so you guys can deduct from your rent.

One of the reason it is prohibited is that you can move a meter from a band C area to a band A area, thereby paying low electricity bills while enjoying Band A supply.
Love800(m): 1:52pm On Oct 03, 2024
Pls, what does this single phase prepaid meter mean?

Is there still other types of prepaid meter apart from this single phase?
yemmit90:

A single face prpaid meter is now around 135k.
paddy4jungle: 1:55pm On Oct 03, 2024
Simply buy and install a unit counter. It settled this issue in my compound. About 10k to 15k

Beremx:
I share prepaid meter with four people including my landlord. We spend only 16k in a month. We are on Band C which is approximately 16 hrs a day

you are absolutely right, some peope are generally wasteful....I know someone who finished 200 units in less than 12 days, he is requesting they put him on estimated billing .....and I'm still using mine within same period... so imagine sharing metre with such a person and he will be claiming nonsense equal bills payment...
Someone can even be staying in a one bedroom apartment and use more units than someone staying in a two bedroom apartment.
Exactly my point.

With this your level of comprehension, I can only help but pity those around you. You just exposed how dumb you're with the gibberish you wrote up there..

I'm even more curious to know what you graduated with...
What does my qualification got to do with this ...I graduated with a second class lower , so what ?

What difficult for you to understand people can be wasteful even if they are spending few hours at home.

Meanwhile , someone who stays at home from morning till Night fit nor still consume much electricity... Probably just charging fone and sleeping l.

So finding a house where all the neighbors get 9-5 job because of NEPA bill sounds dumb.

Why will you share the bill when the meter is yours?
HopeVictor:
People suggesting he should buy a prepaid meter and in his name are probably Tennants that doesn't even know the process of acquiring a prepaid meter.

The only remedy is to plead with your landlord to get another meter then you share the bill or deduct from your next rent if you're paying for it.
Love800(m): 2:10pm On Oct 03, 2024
"use it as rent" pls i dont understand that statement.
FireUpNow:

Price of single phase prepaif meter is 135k, you will also pay for KYC and installations. Getting a meter now together with Installations is high. The landlord should purchase the meter or if the tenant does, calculate total expenses then make agreement with oga landlord for you to use it as rent.
Love800(m): 2:13pm On Oct 03, 2024
But one can go to the office and change the address na.
gabbasin:
you can't use smart meters elsewhere except the address it's originally ed for use

Yes, the single phase is the one you use alone in your apartment, while the double phase is the one that could be shared that op was talking about.

Trendy247:
If you can afford 40k bill on a month, then you can afford to get your own prepaid meter. But be aware that prepaid meters are not movable.
Thanks for this Boss!
Don't mind that one up there that is telling the op to a meter in his name & go with it whenever he decides to relocate.
Some people will come here & type all manner of things!

How are your parents using the solar without inveter?
netmillionaires:
So many things need clarification in this country. Another issue bothering me is concerning electricity connection. I built a house for my parent but electricity is yet to get to the area. My parents are staying there and have been managing the small solar installation.

Now while the electric pole is being gradually installed, The community CDA is asking the houses to make payment for the poles and the metal nepa cable that connects the poles before being allowed to connect their houses to the mains. The requested amount from each house is close to #300,000. So I have been wondering who owns the pole and its connecting lines. If it is NEPA, why then do we have to pay that much to connect our house?

Is it not the electricity companies' responsibility to bring their service to the area while the landlords pay for monthly services rendered?

Love800(m): 2:19pm On Oct 03, 2024
So, is the landlords that applys for meters?
valentineuwakwe:

NEPA does not sell or give individual tenants who does not owna house prepaid meters

"use it as rent" pls i dont understand that statement.

It means calculate the cost, meet with your landlord then discuss about the the cost of the meter and stay in the apart for the period the money you used in getting the meter and stay for the period it the amount covers in rent
wirinet(m): 2:59pm On Oct 03, 2024
HenryWilliams:

No.
The meter is owned by the DISCOs, like all other electrical components purchased by communities or individuals..
It's a useless ACT copied from the derelict era of NEPA and PHCN

Then what are you paying the N135k for? Payment for an item should convey ownership or at least partial ownership in the form of a lease.

How are your parents using the solar without inveter?
It's possible to use solar without inverter by working directly with DC current supplied by the solar s, but is almost impossible to use solar for normal domestic use without some sort of battery storage. Solar pumps can be uses directly without inverter or battery though. It's just that you will not have water if the sub refused to come out at all for the whole day.

For Aba power, when you buy meter, you get refunded in installments via credit tokens whenever you recharge.
This should be the standard practice for all DISCOs. Any DISCO not following this pattern is doing the wrong thing.

There is an inverter. The system is just not big enough to power big appliances like irons, pumping machines, and freezers.

Please, do you know how much is this?

It was roughly 20k plus installation kits and labour. That was 4 Months ago. The week i planned to engage the man, my landlord brought a separate prepaid meter for all the tenants.

That was how i escaped unquantifiable expenses all in the name of paying for electricity.

Actually they are movable. I even sold mine to one of their meter engineers. Learnt it works within a specific area and can be moved from one place to another within the area.

Thank you very much for your input. Please, where can I get the card reader?
Warrior247:
. In my compound, we have one central meter, but everyone has their own card reader .... That means you only pay for the electricity you consume, and you can give the person in charge of the prepaid meter to recharge your own for you when ever you finish your own units....

The card reader is only 10k here in Lagos, but I got my own free from my landlord when I rented where I live now

Lmao 😂. You guys never heard of prepaid meter unit reader? It keeps tab of your energy consumption and tells what each person should pay. 0*7*0*4*5*3*6*8*5*6 chat or call me if you need help getting, installing and tracking it to avoid cheating. Of course it's cheap and you can easily resel to next tenant or anyone.
The phone number is not complete
