Good morning Nairalands, after all work on my car to stop gulping up fuel. Yesterday, I bought 10,000 naira fuel, which is 8 liter, I rode the car to test the fuel usage, but right now I don't know if my meter is in miles or km, but I will attached the pic's of my meter for experts here to help me out. I need to know if it's okay for 8L of fuel to run for 19km. Please help because I intend selling it this morning, I already have a buyer and I'm kind enough to explain the fuel gulping situation to him, please help me if it's okay for the car to use 8L fuel with 19km drive. It's a Toyota Camry 2008 4 plug

Asquare84: Boss, I have done everything and anything. I have changed nozzle, 02 plug, fuel injections, weeded iron on the exhaust to act as a catalyst, changed all plugs to Belgium, oil, etc but the issue still persists. I'm so fed up boss, the car fuel gulping is killing me. In less than two weeks, I have spent 196k on fuel. I really cannot take it anymore, it's draining me financially, this is my first time of owing a car, and it's really draining me financially. |

Needless selling it. Just find a better place and park it. You may still need it in the future when we cross the river. Or better still if you have money, sell it and buy another with less fuel consumption.

BlindAngel: My car did the same. I changed everything till I got tired. I sold this car off and my peace increased like the river following that decision. Sell the car, add funds and build a business, when the profit is increased, buy a low fuel consumption car 4 Likes 1 Share |

BlindAngel:From Owerri to Onitsha is approximately 90km. If you spent 10k for 19km, it means you'll spend roughly 100k to and fro Onitsha-Owerri. Sell that useless car and enjoy peace of mind! 16 Likes |

If its America spec then its in miles not km. Also fuel meters in this country is not accurate best you can get for 8L will be 6.5L and the worst you can get is 5.5L So that 8L you buy is not real 8 and also the fuel is not a good fuel. But even at that 19 miles for 6L is on the high side. Look like your engine loses compression. When engine lose some degree of compression they no longer fuel efficient. Even if you change all the components you stated. The only way is to savages the engine of the car if it’s still very neat. First scan the car and post code. |

psucc: Exactly, this is what I intend doing, selling it and buying another with less fuel consumption, maybe today or tomorrow depending when I can lay my hands on it, I heard Toyota Corolla doesn't consume fuel and I intend getting a corolla, I sincerely and sincerely love camry but I'm afraid not to experience another encounter like this, reason I'm optioning for a corolla. 1 Like |

Zonefree: Yes, I'm selling it today. Thank you for your input, is the fuel usage normal or excess, what do you think? 8L fuel, I drove just 19 kilometers before the car stopped at the middle of the road, I thank the Lord God Almighty that I got some fuel on a gallon in my boot, this car stopped at a very busy road. |

BlindAngel:Na "agba ekperechi" you buy o ![]() After selling the car, don't rush to buy another one. Just take like 30k from the money and take yourself out. That car don show you shege, you really need to enjoy first. 15 Likes |

It's not ok at all and if you continue at this rate all your financial resources might be solely going to fuel the car. It's better you sell it and buy something with less fuel usage since you have tried everything and the car still guzzle fuel like a drunkard. The person you bought the car from sold it to you because of the same issue, likely he bought it that way too and now you are doing the same. The circle continues till the cars ends up being chopped off for parts. |

fineboynl: They have scanned it, 3 different electricians has scanned it, the first said he didn't see anything wrong, the 2nd said the car is supplying high voltage that I should bring 30k and the problem will be solved, but my mechanic disagreed, and I didn't went back. And the 3rd, I don't know what he detected, but he suggested we changed fuel injections and nozzle, I eventually changed the nozzle and fuel injections, after all work was done the issue became worst. I really cannot take this anymore, it's draining me and I'm selling it today, for a lot lesser price that I got it almost 2 weeks ago, now I'm suspecting it's the reason the former owner sold it in the first place, I'm quite certain. 4 Likes |

BlindAngel:Car is a liability. You bought the car two weeks ago, and you've spent like 196k for fuel plus bills from Kazeem and now you're going to sell lesser the amount you bought it just after two weeks. Mhen, I don't wish this tragedy to befall my enemies. You'll be fine. Try not to buy Nigerian used cars. It's rare for a Nigerian to sell his car when it's in good condition. 12 Likes |

BlindAngel: Maybe (you should convert it to CNG or) go for one of those hybrid cars. Since you're very conscious about your fuel consumption. Hybrid cars are very expensive duh |
BlindAngel: 12:37pm On Sep 13, 2024 |
Whois: I don't like corolla, but because I was told it's very fuel efficient, and the difference between it's consumption and Keke isn't much and very noticeable. I have optioned to go for corolla. |

Muscle and Corolla I can bet are the highest cars with no catalytic and it really sad 80% of Nigerian used car you find today has the catalytic removed this are the hand work of sometimes the car dealer, beater or mechanic.

Badb0y4lyf: Sir, will a catalyst solve the problem? If yes and with full assurance then can risk it, even if it's getting a China catalyst as advised by one of the mechanic, please let me know your opinion, I will highly appreciate it |
Badb0y4lyf(m): 2:19pm On Sep 13, 2024 |
BlindAngel: Getting a catalyst may resolve it but it’s not certain beside I suspect the two has been removed one by the engine manifold and the one on the exhaust beneath. |
BlindAngel: 2:32pm On Sep 13, 2024 |
Badb0y4lyf: Yes, same thing my mechanic suggested, he said if I have both catalyst replaced it'd be the end of the excess fuel draining issue, I tole him that I'm ready to have both changed but I'm afraid it might not work, that I have already spent a lot in trying to resolve this fuel issue and replacing the catalyst and, if eventually it didn't work will be a very huge blow to me. If not, I'm fully ready to have them replaced. |
