Activities this far!!! I have been able to clear the land for a fee of N48k. That's the official price for clearing of bushes lands around here which involves, clearing, packing and burning afterwards. As I try use my Lagos street sense reach to negotiate at least 1k of the payments, dem no gree for me. ![]() ![]() 1 Like |

Just this morning, I had to buy 2000 block at the rate of N450 per block and a trailer of sharp sand for 95k. Why? Nothing gives me more assurance than fencing the land immediately. Moreover, I was told cattle grazing is a big issue around here, so it's better i raise the fence enough go cows would be able to climb over. ![]() 3 Likes |

ActiveFarms: I did think of Ugu planting after I got a free pod some days back, but in all honesty, I need something that wouldn't require my presence that much on the farm. I am presently occupied with vegetables on another and it's already taking a toll on me. For okro? Taaaaaa... I so much hate it ehn. Wouldn't even venture into it if billions dey am. To cut long tori short, she agreed to supply water for me at the rate of 3k for each tank refill. Rented the tank for 1k per day. Hmmm. I just dey look them mumu. I go surely do my own back aje!!! For now, let them continue. ![]() 6 Likes |

ActiveFarms: Really? Didn't know potatoes did well on ogun state lands. I was going to lean towards cocoyam. Can both be intercropped? |
jidestroud(m): 10:48am On Aug 17, 2024 |
Inquired around about sinking a borehole here and the prices ranges between N400k to N320k. Make I go dey find that money down immediately. Less I forget, the bricklayer charged me N180k to set the 2000 blocks. Also got 10 bags of cement at the rate of N7,500 (dangote) 5 Likes |

jidestroud: About inter cropping, I don't know. But the both should do okay. Since you will be planting both on heaps ? Have you considered Drip tape irrigated Cucumber Farming ? |

jidestroud:Negotiate well, you should get between 6,000 naira and highest 7,000 naira per 100 blocks. Don't fall for that high billing they use for newbies. if you don't have anyOne, I could share a with you. As for sinking of boreHole, hopefully their ground ain't rocky BUT to be on safe side, don't use those that use manual drilling as if they hit a hard rock they're unable to break, na your pocket go hear am. Rather, go for those that use machine. I don't mean the big motor Ooo but their are machines that does a much better work than hand drilling and the cost is same as those that use hand drilling. Again should you need , I would share with you. 4 Likes 1 Share |

jidestroud:see eh, there's one thing I have observed among most Yorubas, they rarely give anything for free. In fact the fact you're an outsider means they would even overBill you. Even among themselves, they rarely give, let alone an outsider. Would suggest you buy your own Tank (don't buy any Tank less than 3,000 litres), buy your own hose, and if you can't afford sinking your own boreHole for now, manage and be paying them to use their boreHole. If you don't have generator, you can rent for about 4,000 naira a day. Don't pay more than that and LEARN NEVER TO RENT FROM YOUR NEIGBOURs. If they come introducing themselves, tell them you didn't know they did but you already have someone who rents to you and since you and that person are somewhat close, they give you cheaper. You could patronize them on things not important sha. I have a big man who have repeatedly asked I come use his generator for free anytime I need one, I thanked him but since then, I have rented generator about 6-times at rate of 4,000 naira , then later 5,000 naira. Imagine renting and paying such when I could easily use his own for free. I have ma reasons. Most people (even the wealthy ones) no be human being abeg. Also, have somewhere you keep things such as your tank, hose, etc when not around as they could rob you just to displace you and make you rely on them. Just make friend with a landlord there with secure place and keep your things there when not around. Learn to own most basic things, rather than always RENTing as those thing quickly adds up. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

jidestroud:How's fulani menace around there ? if they exists there, doing fence ain't gonna be enough. you need have a small room there where someone would live and act as security. infact having someone live on the farm is very important as that secures the farm not just from Fulani people but from other humans such as resident landLords, those around, even goats sef. Some would own over 6 goats and don't feed them a single grain. They rely on what the goats are able to scout from bushes and farms. No be only cow go worry you; Goats and hummans follow. 4 Likes 1 Share |

jidestroud:Ensure those fence is at least 7-Coaches above the ground else small small dem go break am finish. Those Fulani guys don't mind helping their cattle break a portion for the animals to gain entrance. And normally, an averagely yound cow can jump a height of 5-coaches. See eh, just take the fence as high as 10-coaches and gate it also. At end of the day, ensure you have a room there where someone can live in. That way, your farm would be very secure from different vices. Anything short of those, you're just wasting your time and resources. Pays to mould your own block and supervice them while they work. If you won't supervice yourself, just kukuma buy readyMade ones. Another is, when dealing with labour/workers, never pay in advance no matter how reliable you're made to believe the person is. If while working, they say they're hungry, ebsure they have done a work worth 2,000 naira before giving them 500 naira to go eat. At every point, ensure if they run or stop, they would loose more than you would. A lot of those people (I would say 100% but e go sound someHow) don't have conscience or shame irrespective of their age sef. 6 Likes 1 Share |

bassdow: Hmmm...e pain me say i no see this earlier. I did do my finds here and after calling about 4 bricklayers around here to do the job, they all refused to go below N10k per 100blocks. I had to resort back to a bricklayer I brought in all the way from Badagry who later agreed to collect the said amount of N180k 1 Like 2 Shares |

drake2:Aje in the context used is just a Yoruba slang, meaning I swear!!! Just walahi...etc. Nevertheless, Aje in Yoruba is the goddess of wealth, prosperity & fortune in business. A common belief in Yoruba land which we all share. We've got a day of the week named after her in Yoruba land; Monday (Ojo Aje); Dedicated to the deity of wealth. ![]() Ajé (Monday): This is the day of prosperity on which money ed Orisa on earth and is known as the day of money or prosperity. 4 Likes |
