The Group Chief Commercial Officer at Dangote Industries Limited, Rabiu Umar has said the Nigerian government neglected Dangote Refinery to export crude oil to Indonesia and import finished products from the same country.

Umar disclosed this in an interview with Channels Television on Monday monitored by DAILY POST.

He stated this is coming despite the 650,000 barrels per day Dangote refinery’s inability to get adequate crude oil supply in Nigeria.

“Whilst we are going to import cargoes abroad. Most of the cargo from Nigeria is sold to Indonesia. So the question is, does it make sense to take cargo from Nigeria to sell to Indonesia and then you are also importing the same finished product to Nigeria? It does not make sense to me”, he said.

He added, “We expect to see an improved supply of crude oil to domestic refineries”.

He, however, reiterated that Dangote Refinery will commence the domestic supply of fuel in August 2024.

The development comes amid the recent ime between the Dangote Refinery and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority over substandard products.

Recall that last week, Farouk Ahmed, the Chief Executive Officer of NMDPRA stated that Dangote products were inferior.

Meanwhile, Rabiu clarified that Dangote Refinery products are not substandard but rather among the best in the World.

Earlier, Aliko Dangote, the owner of Dangote Refinery had also dismissed Ahmed’s statement that its products were inferior.

You can never understand this country!

When Nigeria didn't have functional refineries, this country was exporting crude oil and importing refined products.

Now that Nigeria has functional refineries, the owners of the refineries are importing crude oil for feed stock.

A large amount of our crude had already been contracted/sold long ago, long before Dangote refinery was completed. We can't afford to default the contractual aggrements with our foreign clients. Supply of crude would have to be resolved on a negotiation table with lots of concessions involved.

Negative effect of the loan for crude swap from the Buhari days. Unfortunately, same is still happening now due to our low revenue profile.

So this people truly didn't want price reduction on fuel. Thank God dangote built this refinery if not nobody would know the truth. When people from other region complain and shout they say we are the enemy of Nigeria. You must surely rip the consequences when you evil. When dangote the richest is crying who are you, the broke ass man that cheer the evil doers. I pity you people cos what goes around comes around.

why is it so difficult for each government to unbundle all these international Mafias aided by our local thieves in NNPC and other parastatals? Each new government always adjusts to their madness because some people thought they can't be touched..
Dangote knows how to play the game, he is very close to Tinubu. I believe all these recent outburst is a very well-structured game plan within their inner caucus. If not, he won't accept that job, to head economic advisory team set up few days ago. Its a game plan and he will win. Nigeria will now see some people that are really holding them to ransom, come out and talk like that Umar. Its a game of business dominance and survival.

Our problem in this country is NNPC. I wish that organization doesn't exist. It produces corrupt people every season. It's a miracle if someone manages to do the right thing in that organization and all it's s.

If Dangote wants to screw these importers who have deep connection with those in the corridors of power, then he should just crash the price of petrol and diesel far below the cost of importing.....Yeah, he will make losses, but it's an efficient way of fumigating those cockroaches...
