Looking at the video, shows it didn't happen in Nigeria but outside the country, the truth is when stuck do not panic, there is a button there you will press that will alert them and they will move the lift on inspection mode and set them free

Yea, the fear is kind of traumatizing but it is not uncommon.
I have seen people refuse to use an elevator cos they have been trapped once or twice in it but I usually ask those same people if they have been involved in a broken down vehicle before and when they say yes, I ask them why do they continue to use a vehicle

All u need is to open it with the lock and Ur assistant hold the doors while u rescue ppl trapped inside, in some cases the lift stop half way, just check the upper side of the lift u can also lower if from there , but not fully at least to the level that can people.. it cant move unless the cables cut off which is practically impossible... Anyway I live abroad I don't know how Nigeria lift work 😁

Oga you are talking to a lift technician here also, I gave you an example of a lift that was byed in uba building at marina that the lift works with the doors opened, all in saying is put the lift on inspection mode when rescuing people. I'm not a novice on this either. The cables can cut off, that is what happened at the hospital that killed that doctor that was why it dropped to the ground and the safety governor was not connected if not the lift would not have gotten to the ground floor before it will stop.
Besides it is always better to move the lift on inspection to the floor level to get the people out, my opinion though
