Dangote is calling off plans to invest in a new steel plant in Nigeria after the government accused him of seeking to become a monopoly with his new refinery in the West African nation.

Dangote said, "let others that have more money than us go and bring their money from Dubai and invest in their fatherland."

“Our own board has decided that we should not have the steel plant. If we do, we will be called all sorts of names
,” Dangote said at a media briefing Saturday at the refinery in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub.

The indian man working for Dangote fired the first shot

The people who claimed Dangote refinery will never work are the same people who are now claiming Tinubu and Yorubas are working against Dangote... When we start calling them out now, they will accuse you of hating them.

Yet the president went around begging in Saudi and Qatar for this same investment.

What you are looking for in Sokoto is in your Shokoto.

Unbelievable!

No for homegrown businesses, Innoson, Nord, and so on are there but the government keeps patronising foreign companies and creating jobs in foreign lands

Landmark was demolished for tribal sentiments taking away millions of salaries and taxes from the system and yet the government will be happy for Lebanese investment on this same beach even though they will take their profits away like MTN and DSTV.

This capitalist has been enjoying corruption structure the skewed and defective Nigerian system has given to him before now. He seems to have fallen from the power play then he has started screaming how bad the same structure has been.

Despite citing the refinery in tinubus Lagos with all the potential to employ 30,000 lagosians, generate trillion naira taxes to Lagos govt, reposition Nigeria, tinubu is frustrating this man for refusing to sponsor his election. But awarding trillion naira contract to least competent foreigner chaugory for sponsoring his election with money stolen from Lagos coffers. This gives credence to the assertion that the fulanis and Yorubas intentionally frustrated all seaport in the south south from working and mandated oil companies to move headquarters to Lagos and pay taxes where headquarter is based just to kill the Niger delta economy.
Dangote may have cleverly avoided investing in Nigeria delta so that Yoruba politicians will not frustrate his business the way other Niger delta based businesses were intentionally frustrated by Yoruba politicians. But he didn't see this coming. He didn't know that getting too close to a Yoruba politician like tinubu and refusing to be used can attract terrible vendetta. Yoruba politicians have history of unforgiveness and vendetta. It's genetic. Vindictiveness is in that race

The first shot was the action of the govt to make Dangote buy crude at above market price. When Edwin fired his shot and accused of sulphur laced diesels and fuels, he was being factual and never insulted the intelligence of anyone.
Dangote should refine and sell outside Nigeria. It wont take long for the govt to go burst again seeing they have started subsidising petrol and above previous level.

Dangote may actually feel this way but I seriously doubt he said it or will go this way. Cabals will always exist and steel is too crucial.

It is Fulani and Yorubas that are mandating sit at home that will naturally discourage investors even lgb0 investors in SE too?
They are ones that started laying unnecessary taxes on companies in Niger Delta too?
The level of insecurity in SE and the volatiIe society of Niger Delta, they did that too?
They told Otti to pay 18k minimum wage too?
Always looking for who to bIame.
Move your containers to the ports in Rivers and stop making ñoisè.

You are absolutely right. A true business man take a survey of ROI, if he finds out that the ROI will not guarantee profits he won't go into it.

How much did Dangote have before building the world largest refinery plant in Lagos Nigeria.

So to me he didn't say that. I believe he will engage in steel production when he is able to get the much needed finance to fund the project.

We saw oil marketers alleging that his diesel was more expensive than the imported ones, while Dangote has also accused them of importing cheaper dirty fuel. It has been a verbal battle between Dangote and Oil marketers and IOCs on the other side. Anyone coming here pointing fingers at the President should use his/her brain if there's any.

What is the meaning of all these nonsense!
Steel manufacturing is the only way a nation can truly become industrialized, ask Japan, China and even India.

E no go that NNPC schmuck that said NNPC fuel is better than dangote’s.

Daddy dangote, pls don’t mind them, go ahead and set up a steel industry in Nigeria, Nigerian youths are looking for jobs
