oluomoadebayo: Very big and protruding tummy. Big as in very big enough to have almost been turned down from boarding but thankfully I dodged a bullet by not flying Qatar (my preferred choice) based on untamedd's previous post. The airline stressed me a little but I was eventually allowed to fly. I am sure if it was Qatar, it would have been a No-No |

IderadeAratumi:You can apply and get your police character certificate from Nigeria without being physically present. Problem is that the certificate needs to be authenticated at ministry of foreign affairs, and then you bring it to brazil using courier. then send it to the Nigeria embassy in brazil for the consular letter and authentication (both will cost 300 reais) 2. 2 option: either the fathers name is not on the birth certificate before you even have a chance to apply for the port or, the father is present and has his name on the birth certificate and both of you apply for the baby's port together. the circumstance surrounding getting the port in the absence of father is beauricratic and I do not fully understand it. you may need to consult the policia federal website. 2 Likes |

Obinnau:Getting the consular letter and a response from the Nigerian embassy will take you about 2 weeks, except you are willing to go personally to the embassy (1000 km away from sao paulo) and find a way to fast track it. in your condition of a recently delivered woman, it is difficult. so seriously reconsider your timeline. Give yourself 2 months in the country. 1 Like |

Obinnau: Thanks a lot for your prompt response. I already have the procedure for applying for baby's port in the absence of the father clarified through various research I have made. That won't be a problem. My question is at the point of traveling with baby alone back to Nigeria, If there would be a need for the other parent and I to process a travel authorization that will accompany the port. Based on my research, it seems any Brazilian minor traveling with only 1 parent would have to have an authorization from the other parent who is not traveling with the child. This is the basis of my question. |

IderadeAratumi: I sincerely do not think it matters if you used public or private but I may be wrong. I know people who got letters from private hospitals here or even had them the embassy to assure them that they wouldn't be using the public healthcare but still got denied. It may be different for a second time applicant, I'm not sure but i wouldn't risk it except you have the means to apply from another embassy which isn't Nigeria. Yes, it's possible to get it done without being physically there. If you have the right they get everything done for you including foreign affairs stamp. You need to start now if you really want to do it. Since you're here alone, naturally the baby's father's name will not be on the birth certificate and even if you have a means, don't put it on it cos it can complicate things. Since his name will not be on the birth certificate, it won't be on the port hence you can travel alone with the baby without needing any authorization. (100% confirmed cos I did this) If you put his name on the birth certificate, you won't even be able to do the port because he'll need to be physically present to get the port done. When you all come back, you can have his name put on the birth certificate for free at the cartório and eventually the port, this is when you both choose they type of travel authorization the port will have. 3 Likes |

IderadeAratumi: You'll only need authorization if the port was signed for by two parents and you both chose that the child can only travel with the authorization of the other parent. Since it's just you, you won't need it. 1 Like |

@untamedd Good day to you: 1. I would like to know if it is advisable to declare childbirth as a purpose of travel at the visa interview. 2. Also, do I need to get a lawyer or can I easily find someone in Brazil to put me through the PR and baby documentation processes. Thank you. untamedd: 3 Likes |

@untamedd Your responses are very helpful. I’m confused and need someone to help. My wife is due in October and I have not applied for the Brazil visa yet. Her pregnancy is obvious and I would like to know if that is not a problem. For US, we declared childbirth as our purpose of travel, showed doctor’s correspondence and Payment receipts and we were granted visa (2017). Does this apply to Brazil? Is it 100% certain that we will be called for interview. Your response will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. untamedd: 1 Like |

You do not necessarily need a lawyer to apply for PR and you will not easily find some to put you through for free in brazil, However they are a lot of NGO that will help you for free and at every step you run into a dead end, you can always come here and ask questions, trust me it's not that difficult. daddy111: |

daddy111: Declaring childbirth is outright refusal like someone said up there. If your wife can conceal her bump in any way, you may still give it a shot but you'd have to start your application immediately. 1 Like |

someone please help me with link to apply for the brazilian visa. If we apply as a family for the vacation in Brazil, will they ask my wife alone to come for interview even when I am the primary applicant? She's almost 5 month pregnant. |

Hello everyone, I am new here, and while this thread has been helpful, I’d like to get some clarifications. My application was approved on July 1st and I was given 1 year visa. My husband & child will apply soon so that we can all travel together. I will be due in October so I want to ensure my stay does not exceed the 90 days duration on my visa. 1. If I fly with Qatar and take my doctor’s report with me, will I still have issues with them? 2. I understand I will need to get a F immediately I get there, will my family need to get one too? 3. Can you suggest good and affordable private hospitals to check out. How much should I budget for a decent hospital? I also need help with getting a good accommodation. 4. Can my family apply for PR after the baby is born? What is the process like? 5. Is it cheaper to buy the baby items here or wait till I get to Brazil? 6. Is the cost of giving birth through CS same as vaginal delivery? 7. Any other information will be highly appreciated. 🙏🏾 1 Like |

MsKay04: I had plenty questions too when I discovered this thread especially because I heard about this route late which made me apply for visa in my 3rd trimester when I could no longer conceal the bump. What I did was to identify those with the key information on this thread, clicked on their profile and read all their posts. That way, I was able to filter off a lot of information and got only the ones important for my situation, this eventually reduced the number of questions I had when I made my appearance on the thread. I still ask questions but that's after I have gone through and found that such hasn't been answered by any of the gurus here. For instance, just few days ago I asked a question about travel authorization for my baby. One of the gurus responded and I made it clear that I was already aware of that (because of posts here in the past that explained the procedure in detail). Hence I was able to ask the question specific to my situation because I hadn't found that from any of the gurus I checked their past post. I would suggest you do adopt the same approach. You'll be able to learn so much within a short while and this would move things very fast. The question you should be asking is who are those with knowledgeable info that you can tap from their wealth of vast knowledge through posts shared recently and in the past. Since you have already ed the visa stage, you can check out Adjo01, Untammed, Atofoyus, etc. As you check their posts, you will come Across other knowledgeable gurus too exchanging insight with them. This should take you only 1 day if you dedicate enough time for it. You can come back the next day to ask for clarification here, you'll see that your list of 7 questions would have been reduced to 1 or 2. You would still need answers as you progress on this journey and I'm sure people will be willing to provide answers for those specific situations. You'll be better for it in the long run. Wish you All the best 11 Likes |

Good day everyone, wonderful thread and my appreciation to everyone sharing information on this thread.I want to ask how long it takes for the Brazil consulate to acknowledge application. I submitted my application via their website last week Saturday and I am yet to get an acknowledgement of my application. Because I read on this page that one is supposed to get an email stating application in being reviewed. I read somewhere that it's supposed to be within 48hrs, I don't know if this had changed. Thank you

Do Brazil Embassy return original documents along with the ports? I am applying for my self, my wife and our child. I don't know if we are to send the original marriage certificate and birth certificate or photo copies is what is required? Please someone should help with my question. Thanks |
Reliancemedia: 1:17pm On Jul 04, 2024 |
For the submission of documents to the embassy is submission of the Original Marriage certificate and original child birth certificate required? Or do we only have to submit photocopies? If we submit the original Marriage certificate and birth certificate would the embassy in Lagos return them to us? |

MsKay04: 1. I don’t think you should have any problems, but I recommend TAAG if you don’t mind. If you need any assistance at Lagos airport, I know some people who can help. 2. You can even get your F while you’re in Nigeria. Your family will also need Fs to process any documents in Brazil. In short, you can’t do anything without a F in Brazil. 3. You don’t need a private hospital because public hospitals have more professionals than private ones. Public hospitals in Brazil are of a higher standard than private hospitals in Nigeria. 4. Yes, as long as they are in Brazil. 👍 5. It’s actually cheaper to buy baby items in Nigeria, but since you’re not planning to stay long, you can do the shopping here. 6. In public hospitals, both C-section and vaginal delivery are free. 7. To save time and money, get a legitimate person to help with the documentation. Pay someone to help you if you need quality services. --- I need your assistance, please. If you are coming anytime soon, I’d like you to help bring my driver’s license from Nigeria. Overall, I help people with their documentation in Brazil, including finding affordable accommodation. You will have to pay for my service. If you’re interested, talk to me on Instagram @its_olawhale. God bless you. 🙏 6 Likes |
