Talk to StanbicIBTC Asset Management. For sometimes now, they have been sending me emails on using my MMF as collateral to obtain loans.

@sleekybaba, MMF and stock are two different products. You can't use MMF to buy shares, you will need to have stock/cscs to buy shares. Many years back you could buy shares in the primary offer without cscs because paper certificates were printed then, but now shares bought even in primary offer will be credited to your cscs directly.

If wish to buy the ongoing fidelity or any other company shares, open a stock it takes about 72hrs to do that if no kyc issues.

You can open a stock with investment one right away. Click the third link on my signature to do that.

About the online access, I asked them in July 2022 and they told me they were working on it. That it will soon be out and uptill now they are still working on it. That does not show any sign of seriousness. They must not even have an app just a web portal will do. I am using morgan capital as my broker and can confidently recommend it to anybody with just their itrade webportal.


About withdrawal maybe they can keep up with that 1-3 days promise. It's only when there is a trail that you will be convinced. Not to discourage you ooo because you are already with them but you have to know them and prepare your mind so you won't get frustrated. Also, having a better service will be a bonus for you.

Even more viable firms like Stanbic, FBNquest and United Capital most times do not treat it the unautomated request that fast as quoted. While, you will get your funds within 3 - 24 hours after withdrawal request through the automated route if everything is rightly done from your end, going through filling of liquidation form request takes longer time with back and forth. I tried it with InvestmentOne's Vantage Dollar Fund before it was moved to GT and it took me about 2 weeks with serious craze/display in their office before I could get my fund in my . Maybe because is VDF sha. They might have changed now sha because it's a new management. Also, individual experience will definitely be different.

No you can't use Mutual Funds to purchase stock. You have to open a stock booking separately. You can either the Stanbic IBTC Stock Brokers or ask their Asset Management to link you up with their brokers or find another stock broking firm.

Do I need to fill any other form for online redemption consent and how many days for payment after filling the form online or in the bank . Also does the redemption have to be Stanbic?

@fungirl89, it depends on what you mean by good. When it comes to fund managers and the funds they manage, good means different things to different investors.

Most times some things are normally considered by investors - rate, customer service, ease of redemption of funds, and online services ie the ability to access your online.

You don't need to fill other forms once you complete the registration online

If you place redemption request before noon on any working day, you get your funds in your designated bank same day otherwise you get it the next business day if you place redemption request on weekends or public holidays

Any commercial bank of your choice can be used as the redemption , you don't have to be a customer of stanbic ibtc bank.

The rule of this investment is to enjoy it while it lasts. Don't bother, when the rate changes there will be another opportunity. Normally a rate drop is an opportunity in another segment of investment except when there is a complete economic meltdown which in itself is another opportunity in disguise.

Yes, especially for Stanbic. They know many investors who wish to invest may not have their personal property so they now use any govt issued id card that has your address in place of utility bill.
