A bit tricky question. If one earns in dollars, a lower USD means the value of their portfolio and assets (in USD) will drop significantly. A higher USD value regardless of inflation or high cost, keeps it in range.

The thing is the percentage rise isn't balanced with current economic impact. Earning $1000 around ₦200 per USD would buy you one laptop in 2015, whilst earning $1000 now at over 1500 would buy you more laptops.

Laptops are dollar referenced. The cost of a laptop in USD is not any cheaper now than it was in 2015. It is our earnings in NGN (as with 99.99 % of Nigerians) that was eroded.

The cost of a laptop in USD did not reduce between 2105 and now.

If right or wrong was on a scale, your statement couldn't be more wrong.

oga. in 2015. no be only Nigeria currency fall, others countries own fall too. but they maintain the statue quo up till today. Nigeria on the other hand, ours just dey rise.
I agree with you, even those that fell didn't have this high impact. With the current value and the current economic situation, don't you think USD is higher than expected?

I feel that a particular region have not stopped making reference to Jonathan's government because it favoured them.

Since afterwards, they have been crying of hunger because their sustainance was tied around the man who left power around 2015.

Only fools liked this useless comment.

What was the price of laptop in 2015 and what is the price today?

Has the price of laptop decreased since 2015?
200K can get you a laptop in 2015, 1.5M will get you more laptops with inflated price (each).

2015 election: the election that taught me Nigerians are easy to deceive, not that smart, and they don't take political history seriously and properly analyse it.

If you ever bought into the promises of change put forward by APC, you were either naive or just plain stupid.

That's not true.
$1000 is $1000 when you're buying exclusively imported items like laptop.

you are lying bros.. in 2015 with $1 to 200Naira, you can get a brand new latpop for 120k(around 350 to 500$), 150kk and maximum at around 180k for medium end laptop but today ordinary used laptop goes for 250k to 300k.. the cost of new laptop today with the same spec with you can get around 2015 is still aroun 350$ to 500$.. so sayin you get plenty laptop with a $1k is a lie at best....
200K is enough to buy a laptop in 2015 like I mentioned. However, even with inflated prices you can buy more laptops on 1500 to $1 exchange... this is why I said the current value isn't matching the economic trend.

which more laptop do u want to buy with $1k.. if you are saying used laptop fine and that same 200k to $1k can buy atleast 3 used latops in 2015...new laptop prices only increased marginally between 2015 and now ranging from 350$ to 500$ and macbook aound 1k$ and more...
go to jumia and google for new laptop prices and compare it with new laptop prices of 2015, then convert to dollars and see that there is no much differences...

USD price didn't fall like naira, very much likely the price will be in range for purchases at$350-$500 per laptop. What I meant is current USD earners are spending more and hold their balance compared to naira earners. will get more value earning USD for similar job in Nigeria.

half a million naira can get a laptop today, it all depends on specifications and brand. You can buy USD to keep the value constant or buy in naira.

As part of its campaign strategy in 2015, APC asked Nigerians a simple question.

Is N216 To $1 Okay?

APC was outraged that Naira had fallen to N216 to a Dollar. Many APC ers said this alone was enough to kick out Jonathan since Naira had never been this low

Today, after almost 10 years of APC, a Dollar is now N1,500

How do you feel about the question APC asked in 2015?
I feel like carrying Koboko walking on the road and start flogging anything APC especially the two scammers in that poster. grin

Yoruba and Hausas don't follow history line to vote rather they follow religion and tribalism to bid their most especially when an IGBO man is in the Frontline.....

NIGERIA could have been a better place but once Fulani took it and now handed it over to Yoruba Muslims.....

History should tel us we have a long way to go before fresh air can reach Nigeria again....

Is not rocket science but # FACTS #
God bless our darling daddy
God bless our darling mummy
God bless Nigeria

Like I tell everyone, the internet does a perfect job diagnosing people with chronic mental and psychological handicap than any orthodox therapy will ever do

My point is $1000 In 2015 will buy roughly same value of laptop in 2024.
Exoensive laptops then we're often not up to 200k while u need nearly 2m now for same grade.

This isn't true, if iPhone cost $700 in 2015, I only need 140k in Naira. Now same, phone same price will cost me over 1 million Naira.
Laptops are imported mostly in USD.
Your analogy will or should only affect locally sourced items.

And it was an exaggeration.
N216 was an inflated, fake black market rate. It was N200 to $1 at worst (and we could use a debit naira card but only pay, not receive).

We're in Nigeria, over 95% of the population are not earning in dollar. So, your analysis is useless
