Yes when she is approved for PGWP and has a job offer, you can then apply SOWP.

I really found out something strange today. I was earlier refused Open Work Permit for attaching insufficient documentation about my spouse full-time study last year. I just decided to order my gcms notes only for me to find out the visa officer could not state the so-called missing document that he used to decide that my document is insufficient.


IRCC are big yahoos. If I knew earlier, I would have appealed.


Please if you have similar reasons just order the gcms note and find out the truth at least for your knowledge sake that the fault may not be you.

March 7, 2023: I ed local MP who ed IRCC on my behalf.
IRCC asked local mp to check back if we don’t get response by… Infact local mp had to follow up many times.
June 3: Request for additional documents(recent 6 months statement from couple, we added updated employment references from both and payslips.

Reason for the above response: I used RCIC consultant.
However, their system generated a sort of gcms notes which was included in their response( I guess they know the sender is the legitimate person being represented).
The gcms showed “REVIEW REQUIRED” on eligibility and that gave me sleepless days and nights.

It ended in praise. I sincerely hope this inspires someone.

Does a study permit become invalid (even if it has not expired) once one submits their PGWP application? Also, what if the student graduates and submits their PGWP application while their spouse's SOWP is still being processed? Will that affect the application in anyway?

The SP has an expiry date, that date is when it becomes invalid, your PGWP application is processed on its own merits, however, when you are approved for PGWP permit then there will be no need to use the SP any more.

It is advisable to have your PGWP approved before SOWP is submitted, because IRCC now wishes to see the PA employed or having a job offer before submitting their spouses SOWP.

You can apply before be travels or wait after he has landed, each of the options will require you explaining your decisions why you have chosen the option and try to convince the VO to believe your reasons.
It will be good he pays his fees, so that he can get ENROLMENT LETTER, which is a compulsory doc for SOWP application.
He can apply under his portal- SOWP application is only available on the GCkey portal.
Home ties will not only be the businesses, you need to spread it to your family and other personal relationships

You can use LOA, however, this will be a risky move without the enrollment letter. In the alternative, you can attach the correspondence from the school which shows that enrollment will not be given till resumption.- Not advisable sha

If u applied for Work visa (sowp) that is what you should get and not visitor visa.

However most time what they give you is a visit visa for the time of work permit your spouse have.

Your work permit authorization will be given to you at the Canada airport by CBSA officers.

I don't think there is any issue here.

Hello what was the reason for your initial refusal

The initial refusal was that i don’t have enough funds to cater for myself when i get to Canada , but my agent didn’t add my to it that time , but the new application my statement of has been added to it including some certain amount of money in it .

Just be patient, processing time for work permit is 4 and half months presently, so it still within processing time. Just hope for the best.
