The main reason why they left Finidi in charge, because they know he can't perform. They want Nigerians to be the ones to start crying that they sign a foreigner, that's where their gain is, they won't see much money with a local coach in charge.

This is not about local coach but the players. The coach can instruct you to play some pattern, the decision to stick to that pattern would depend on what the opposition is playing.

Finidi was the most obvious,foreseen disaster.
I know the general outcry that greeted his appointment after rumours had circulated that first it was one European then Amuneke.People were generally satisfied if it was going to be a Nigerian coach and amuneke,hopeful and willing to give him a chance.
It was all over the news then that amuneke had been appointed.Suddenly from nowhere we heard Finidi,a former coach of a Nigerian league team where home teams almost always win or at worst never ever lose.
I said it during the SA match that if Nigeria doesn't qualify,all the NFF officials should be arrested,their houses confiscated and put in jail because they should never have appointed Finidi in the first place.
No wonder Amokachi refused to come and be his assistant,in Amokachi's mind he would have been "when did Finidi start coaching that I would now come and be assisting him".

Very funny, can we afford "the best European coach possible"? Even some of the half baked ones we managed to appoint to manage the team are still being owed till date.
