Hello, abeg who has experience with EMS here, i just got a call now that my package is available for pickup & i should come with pick up fee of #5,000 via EMS unit, Nipost office, i told the guy that the handling fee I've been paying before now ranges from #200 - #500 depending on item weight & that the weight of this current one is 1.5kg, the guy cut call

I'm not around & want to send someone to pick it up for me, how do i handle this amicably since it's someone going to help me pick it so it won't be a hassle for him

I wouldn't pay more than #500 - #1000 if I'm around, I'll sort it out with them

This is my first other coming via ems & the longest so far, almost 80 days

This is what I'll do, chat up the seller if truly the logistics shipping company was changed from AliExpress Standard Shipping, they will give you a 1 or 2 dollar refund, happened to me.
THIS IS ONLY IF THEY CHANGED THE SHIPPING COMPANY.

But, i don't see how this is in any way the seller's or Aliexpress concern, or am i missing something?

If you show them the tracking details and amount charged, trust me they will, I've done so before
Aliexperess Standard Shipping is home delivery as you and we all in this platform knows it doesn't involve delivery fee because it's home delivery, I've been educated a little about it by the Speedaf agent

Trust me none except Nipost is cheap, infact Nipost some times is cheaper than AliExpress Standard Shipping sometimes depending on the item, also depending on your nature of item Nipost could charge you 1k to 5k, I've seen them charge a lady at a university 20k because her item was like the size of 5 indomie carton

Anker, for instance, makes use of "Aliexpress selection standard", and their products are usually delivered by EMS. By this, seller can't influence the choice of carrier.

As long as it's about logistics, nobody can predict that. But in my own case, I got the item delivered by EMS in exactly 4 weeks of ordering. Some could take longer. So its about luck!

Yes Man! I think you're right because one time I bought an item from a store(Digitalising) which is a disguise AliExpress warehouse store, it came through AliExpress Selection and came in 2weeks.

AliExpress Standard Shipping or Selection Shipping uses any courier they deemed fit. Ali Standard ships with Speedaf, SingPost, EMS (EX...SG), PostNL, China Mail, FedEx etc, same with Selection but you're likely to get Speedaf often with Standard than with Selection. Also, you're more likely to get other carriers with Selection than Speedaf.

For instance, I ordered a camera back glass of a phone some days back, option was Standard Shipping and it was shipped with SingPost! As Ola' said earlier, some brands/Store don't ship with with Speedaf but PostNL or SingPost and example is Anker. Xiaomi phones are usually via other couriers too. Even Choice items are not exclusively Speedaf.

To your EMS ish, NIPOST has categorised some parcels somehow that those kinda parcels go through EMS, not necessarily cuz it was handled by EMS from the start (EX....SG) but perhaps, just to distribute responsibilities, better ability or/and revenue generation for EMS. I've received many items via EMS without a penny paid, paid more than ½ d cost price and rejected parcels.

Handling fee hasn't changed: 200 - 500. If you're billed higher, ask them why so. Only NCS charges way above at point of collection and always comes with invoice. You may wish to pay (to d bank) and collect your parcel or reject it and have it returned or Appeal the invoice by letter to Lagos office.
