BossFingy: This may be late but I stay in Bolton, it’s a good area because it’s cheaper than Salford or Manchester but it’s easy to jump into Manchester, about an 1 hour plus by bus. Jobs you’ll be targeting will be in the whole greater Manchester which is connected by transport. I pay rent of about 715 pounds for a room Amd kitchen. I came with my bro so we split the rent. |

fullclub: Form A as of 2020 took two weeks to process. Fast forward to 2022, it took two months. Nobody should use Form A. This is why the funds MUST be saved in dollars till you enter the country. Dollars all through. Pay it as stated. It is the World's Reserve Currency. [b]Even at that time u can't buy dollars from aboki to pay fees because banks won't process it as it is deposited not inflow. That wasn't the case in mine. I simply paid directly to the school's just as one would pay into someone's Nigerian bank . Nothing concerned me with Form A. 1 Like 1 Share |

By February last year banks said only 7k per 6 months could be process through form a and even at that we waited for 9 months no show

My good people. I'm about to apply for visa and I see that due to the rate fluctuation, I'm about £50 above the required funds. Am i safe??
|
SemperFid: 8:35am On May 25, 2024 |
MoukaShaw: Well, nobody can predict the future rates so you can't say what will happen. I think Its better to add more funds and cushion it but let's wait for more experienced people to answer |
MoukaShaw: 9:07am On May 25, 2024 |
SemperFid: I saw online that the xchange rate of the day you apply is what is used by embassy. Am not so sure but let others chime in |

cashmyles: After London, I’ll say there’s no better place than Manchester. It may be tough for a month or two but you’ll get something maybe not up to 20 hours though because the demand is now less than the supply as many international students have flooded. Jobs you should be targeting as a start are steward, cleaner, retail and later on care. Teaching assistant is a soft job that can give 20 hours if you have teaching experience. One thing also, get police report when coming from Nigeria, some jobs might need it. 3 Likes |

ebuka1997: Have you been in other cities to come to this conclusion? I disagree with this. My sister came to London as student and didn’t get student jobs for over 4 months, I had to relocate her to Liverpool where she got job the following week with a charity. Liverpool region also called Merseyside is one of the largest region in England. Liverpool is one of the easier city to get student jobs. I also know other cities aside “London and Manchester “ that’s easier to get jobs. When we came as students some years ago, London was good and fast to get jobs but in the last 2 years it’s saturated and to get 20 hours is hard especially if you don’t drive, even the teaching assistant roles too it’s hard to get 20 hours this period. London is better for full time roles, but rent and transport will finish your money. I stay in 3 bedroom with 2 toilets (family of 5) around Liverpool region and pay £650 per month, it’s a bit higher when you move into Liverpool but it’s still better and transport card per month is £72 that’s if you want to be going out almost every day of the week. And if your goal is to stay longer in U.K. Liverpool is also one of the cities to get quickly on the property ladder as houses are cheap here. 2 Likes |

fullclub:Still waiting for decision on my visa. But honestly I hope there won't be a decision until June 17 when enrollment closes in my school so I can get a refund. I've been having panic attacks since I read here about recent the present UK not so good for student visa. My school collected £5500 tuition deposit. After mailing them about not getting a decision yet on my visa, I was asked to enroll and start accessing online materials. At the point of doing so, I was asked to pay 50% of my tuition balance, £4975. I consulted a friend who advised I wait until the outcome of my visa because the school's refund policy is not on their website. The initial agreement is £5500 tuition deposit, 50% tuition balance at the beginning of the second semester and the balance of 50% tuition deposit at the beginning of the 3rd semester. Honestly, I just want my money back. I will stay in Nigeria and go back to my poultry business and add mixed crop farming with my job at the hospital. If their immigration policies go back to being fair, I can think of going there if there are better opportunities 2 Likes |

Follak: Please how much is your total fees? And how much are you paying upon arriving? If you have the complete fees or at least 70% then proceed as you have already started the move. Then when you arrive you do some training maybe in security, care, or any stuff and keep applying. I would have loved to know the school names because some schools are understandable. They give you time to the last date of your end of program. Honestly there is opportunity to work menial jobs and get cash once u are through with school and get ur post study visa because then u have full working right and u have knowledge of in and out of the country. How things work. As for refund policy the school should have one and most schools refund if only visa was refused... So let's keep praying your visa will be out. 1 Like |

Cashmadam: What about the funds being just little over £50 the required amount? Is this safe? |
ebuka1997: 1:04pm On May 26, 2024 |
Igbamatigbi: It’s pure data, Greater Manchester is the second biggest economy in the UK. So statistically there would be more jobs, it’s that simple. Thar someone you knew got or didn’t get jobs doesn’t invalidate that as that could be skewed by personal experiences.
