It's definitely the landlord that will repair it if it's spoil before you park in but if you have eventually park in already before the pump develop an issue... Everyone benefitting from the pump will surely contribute to repair it...

Tenants.. no long story... Infact even if e spoil, tenants should gather money and buy new one...
If the landlord stays in the same compound, then he can contribute money but not alll

Lol, property of landlord, but is being used by tenants... So if the tenants misuse it , it should still be landlord that will replace it because "It's the property of the landlord"...

We always don't like taking responsibility for our actions

If the landlord is living with them, the landlord should take responsibility for he repairs. I believe that's the normal thing.

However, if the landlord isn't living with them, they should gather money to repair.

The landlord will also use his money to buy fuel to power his generator to pump water for tenants.

It is the property of the Landlord and as such is his responsibility except it was stated in your tenancy agreement. The only thing you are responsible for is the money for fuel or electricity to pump the water.
Your rent is for you to use those things in his house. It's akin to a leaking roof or a cracked wall or a fence that fell, will you the tenant be the one to fix your leaky roof since you are the one leaving there

I keep wondering why this should be a debate. It's like asking, between a transport owner and engers, who should fix the vehicle if it breaks down? It's sad that some landlords have this stupid mentality that your commitment ends in building a house, the rest is to collect rent, while tenants do the maintenance and everything else. Unfortunately too, in their greed they keep increasing rent.

If the landlord lives in the same house they should all contribute. If the landlord refuses to contribute, they should all stay without water. Some landlords cheat their tenants by making them fix the damaged things in the building. Tenants can also repair and deduct the cost when they pay the next rent.

If the landlord does not live in the same house, the tenants can either repair it or stay without water. That’s their business. There are uncountable tenants out there who are very wicked minded. They never want to fix things when they are damaged. They want the landlord to fix the pumping machine, which they operate and damage sometimes out of their own carelessness. Landlord no go kill himself.

Wait there dey expect landlord,na landlord property rain go spoil grin

We should recognise our individual differences to avoid crisis. Some landlords have it stated in the tenancy agreement to be informed of any damages and they will effect repairs. In the event you don't have this type, do the needful in protecting your properties

I guess the same rule applicable if roof leaks,
If toilet full? And if the painting of the house fades?

They should share it 50/50. Tenants should learn how to take responsibility because one day they will, as well become landlords.

Depends on
1- number of occupants
2- actual cost of fixing it back
3- if the landlord stays in the same house
4- what’s written in the tenancy agreement
5- what actually led to the faulty borehole (some tenants can be so negligent with things especially what is not theirs )
