For a project manager with professional qualification like PMP, Prince2 and salesforce cert.

Can I go ahead and assess 491 or 186?
I have 2 years experience
Not really, depends on your qualifications and university, the anzsco code of the oxccupation you want to nominate

Good day House,
Please, I need your direction on the best pathway and assessing body I can choose.

I am 41years and i have my masters degree in process engineering and degree in chemical engineering.
I have over 7years work experience as a maintenance planner.

I am married and my wife is 33years has a degree in library and information science and and over 5years experience in istrative operations with a Nigeria company with no proof of payslips and tax details.

But, I can show all my documents.

Please, which is the best pathway and assessing body for me?

I will be glad to hear from our experts.

Thank you

Check which occupation you want to nominate. Nomination has been scarce for engineering occupations these days.
Guide to check your occupation and ANZSCO code:

Visit www.anzscosearch.com
You may need to on the website to view the details below
Desktop:
1. Select ‘Lists’ at the top of the webpage.
2. Click 'Skilled Occupation List'
3. You will see about 500 occupations on the list.
4. Keep scrolling till you find occupation(s) that align to what you do.
5. Click the 6 digits ‘ANZSCO' code on the left. It will load the full page
6. Select 'ANZSCO' and scroll to tasks.
7. Check if the tasks relate to what you do.

Mobile
Click the hamburger icon (3 horizontal lines)
Select 'Lists' > 'Lists 2023-24' > Skilled Occupation List
Follow steps 3-7 above.

You may find more than 1 occupation.
Revert here with the occupation(s) and the Anzsco code(s)

Your wife would have been the better applicant based on her age. Unfortunately, she doesn't have the requisite documents and experience to push through.

For you, check the occupation list to find one that aligns with your experience.

Boss, please I need your opinion here.

I'm 42, and my wife turned 31 this week Monday. We also have 7 months old baby.

Cos of her age, I feel she should be the primary applicant. She has upper credit HND in Industrial Safety Technology from Petroleum Training Institute Nigeria (2016), and 2nd class upper degree in Occupational Health, Safety and Environment from Middlesex University, London (2018).

Problem is she's working as a data analyst in one foreign organisation in Nigeria after finishing a program in data analysis since safety work wasn't forthcoming.

From the skill occupation list, I saw 'Occupational health and safety Adviser". And she meets the requirements except for work experience in that field.

Here is my question specifically: An uncle of hers who has a dredging license is willing to issue her a backdated job offer letter with payslip (note that his company is not really functional for some 3 years now). Another friend of mine who is into real estate is also willing to offer the same favour. Please, do you think it will scale through or what do you advise, my boss?

Also, her professional hip certification like NEBOSH Int'l general certificate do you think it will increase her chances?

It's stated in the anzsco that registration or licensing may be required. What do they mean by that, please?

Thanks

Laboratory report is not a compulsory document. If you must provide one, just provide any food research related report you prepared and send to Vetassess. There is noo specific format.

*Thanks for the reply. My issue is that i will need to score 79+ in PTE exam for me to attain 65points, but i can easily attain 65+ in the PTE exam according to my present performance, which is in english proficient level that gives me a total of 55points(in EOI) when checking my eligibility.pls i want to know if i can submit an EOI with 55points for subclass 149 knowing i'll be given 15 extra points from the province/state? do i need to have 65points before putting in my EOI?*

Yes you can submit. The 65 points include the state or regional nominations. So in your case, you can only submit for 491 which will take your total points to 70 if they nominate you.

Greetings,

I must say I learnt a lot from your answers. Pls I also need some clarifications.

I have been looking towards Canada but my spouse recently got a link for Australia through a friend. It's going to be a one year visit visa, we were told that after few months, the visa can be converted to PR for a couple of years,. Pls is this really feasible ?

What do you advice? I and my spouse are both laboratory scientists.

Will be looking forward to your response
mamatwiny:

From your , I can see you also came from Canada thread so let me use it to relate to you;

189 is like the straight ita on Canada thread, when you get your grant ( PPr in Canada) you can reside anywhere in Australia, but unlike Canada not all jobs groups ( SOL in Aussie, NOc in canny) can apply for this 189. Your Job must be listed on MLTSOL ( meaning jobs that Australia will be needing for a long time) . If your occupation is listed on STSol or ROL ( short term sol or region sol) you can only apply for 190 or 491. 190 is like provincial nomination in Canada while 491 is like Atlantic migration just that you will not be needing a job offer before application like in Canada. 189 is very competitive even for the MTSol occupation, so if your point is not high enough90 and above, it is advised you apply for 190 or 491.

Like Canada provincial nomination, Australia states have their minimum requirements and occupations in demand. You have to visit the states website to know if your occupation is in demand there, if yes, you also know the requirements and method of application. Also note that Aussie is point based similar to Canada.
Saskatchewan province in Canadahas a special grid/ ranking , so does ACT have Canberra matrix.

The first step to apply is to get your skill assessment. For Canada, you write your ielts and do your ECA, but Australia own is more advanced than just ECA. Each occupation group has its own accessing body. You have to check the assessing body for your occupation, go to their website and check their requirements. Some require English competency like ielts, or pte academic ( eg EA and the body for teachers) while some do not. Others like TRA require minimum of 3 years experience in the occupation you want to assess. These assessment body in addition to assessing your experience, also assess you qualifications and relevance to the job occupation . For some of these bodies, they deduct 2 to 6 years from your work experience if your qualification is not relevant to the job function, ( eg ACS and Vetasses) while some others it is outright negative outcome ( eg TRA). This is the first major hurdle in processing Australia skilled migration visa.

If you get a possitive assessment, you have to enter the skill select pool by creating there. In skill select, you can create many profiles unlike in Canada Express entry pool. In Canada, lots of ppl select interested in any province for nomination, but in Australia, you create separate expression of interest ( eoi) for each of the provinces that nominate your occupation. If you receive invite, you apply by submitting your documents. After that comes the nomination. With the nomination, you apply to DHA which is equivalent to CIC in Canada.
After some months ranging from 7 months to over 1year after application ( for 190 or 189) visa, the grant comes ( PPr in Canny) grin grin grin. In that grant, you will see your initial entry date ( IED), try to enter Aussie b4 this date.

Now, Aussie application is expensive compared to Canada. You should budget like 2 to 3m for processing/ application fees if you have a family of 3 from skill assessment to grant.

After you get grant, budget from 800k to 1.3m for flight for 1 person.

When you reach your destination, accommodation is another thing. Rent is calculated weekly. Don't fret, it is similar to Canny. Regional areas are cheaper.

When you scale all these, the sky is your starting point as Australia has almost the highest minimum wage in the world.

To answer the last question, they say 491 is the new gold as the competition for 190 is stiff and provinces prefer to give 190 to ppl already working and residing in their state, that does not mean you cannot go ahead and apply for 190 if your points are high enough.

With these few points of mine, I hope I have been able to convince and not confuse you that......
grin grin grin

Thanks for correcting my typo.

I have non IT degree

I have a couple of vendor certifications

I have over all close to 6 years IT work experience from technical /service desk, network security , network Operations, network istration.

If you apply for assessment via recognition of prior learning. What are my chances of being successful.

I researched the procedure but will be difficult to get the approved format for ing employment. I have employment letters, payslips, termination letters. But i saw ACS have a format which must be used to employment.

I am just confused 😕

Firt you need assement with Engineers Australia.

You need to do a competency Demostartion Report.
https://www.engineersaustralia.org.au/publications/prepare-your-migration-skills-assessment-application

Sadly, yoiu have a HND, whihc means your AQF level will be AQF level 5.
It does not matter. Just do your assessment and get your points.

If you have an MBA or pMP it might be helpful as well.

Start from there and ohh (IELTS or TOEFL)
