It was then that Russia struggled to achieve air superiority because they didn't understand how to deal with the advanced air defences NATO supplied to Ukraine. The same will be the case if US was up against a Russia backed enemy with S-400 air defence system.

Now, Russia is pounding Ukraine from the air using glide bombs because they now understand better how to counter the threat of air defence systems. In fact, they hardly enter Ukrainian airspace so they are hardly exposed. Also, they have succeeded in locating and destroying some of these advanced air defense systems thanks to powerful surveillance drones and attack drones.

I have also read and seen clips of SU-34 fighter jets entering Ukrainian air space to drop bombs. It's no longer news that Russia is beginning to assert its dominance in the air (air superiority)...The successes the Russians have recorded in the past few months is down to the fact that they've managed to gain superiority in the skies over war zone in Ukraine...

The air defences left in Ukraine are strategically positioned in specific complexes. The much heralded Abrams tank have been withdrawn from the front line because Ukraine doesn't control the sky in the war zones.
