Salary increase is different from minimum wage. Nigerians should learn to read and assimilate. The new minimum wage will be announced this month.
If they don't announce it what should I do to you? Behaving as if you are a foreigner in Nigeria.

Tinubuu is just a scam and he is truely good at it why does he always try to circumvent or meander around issue of the Masses hiding behind different cloak and propaganda in his mind this is just a way to by the NLC and provide a bit of Succour to the people at mini expense in end a win win the people will wail but still appreciate at least it better than noting FG still in the picture as listening to the people’s cry.

You can see how foolish and insensitive our government and political leaders are to the suffering of Nigerians.

Everything in Nigeria increased by at least 200% in the past 12months and I expected the government to increase wage by same proportion or you tell me how workers will transport themselves to office daily.

Rent is in the increase like wise drugs and goods. The simple truth is if you earn below 150k per month in Nigeria today, them you are very very poor. 150k is just 100dollars and that's 3 dollars per day.

We are poor as a nation anyway.

What of pple that are not working? They should die?

They will never get work to do as long as workers are being paid this current mockery of salary compared to daily basic needs prices.

Good call... Imagine surviving on less than $50 per month, how does that make any sense?

Politicians are all aware that the minimum wage is not even enough for food on a monthly basis, talk less of paying bills and raising a family, yet they expect civil servants to accept it like that and look for other ways to survive.

Because of the inhumane salary scale that the FG uses, private companies and multinationals also pay Nigerians significantly less than they do in other countries.

Maybe politicians should be on same salary scale and allowances removed, corruption blocked this people are not in touch with reality.

Tinubu and his government are wicked and heartless. Wicked souls.

Judges salary was increased by 800% but they want to increase that of civil servants by 25 percent when cost of living quadrupled...

This is wickedness

If they aren't cool with the job, let them re-sign.

That's what government can afford.

For where... Those thieves? Imagine Yahaya Bello who paid $1 million school fees in advance for his kids... Whereas the common man is attending a local primary school without fans and windows.

None of them will escape God's judgement.

The salary structures needs to be reviewed and workers paid per hour. The government might have the funds to pay 200k per month, for instance, but, personally, I think they can't try going up as such. Why? Because lots and lots of the salaries go into ghosts' hands. All efforts to wipe out ghost working have not yielded much fruit. So, technologies should be utilised to take workers attendance and score hours of work.

On average, each worker would do 40 hours per week. Some might work 32, 24, or less hours per week. If you pay N1,250 per hour, then if a person is not needed for some shifts, they don't have to turn up in the office. You again save some money and the staff can do something else with their time to make more money elsewhere while their jobs remain full-time and permanent with the civil service. As such, acceptable standard minimum and maximum work hours will need to be set.

Nigerian ghost workers really die hard and would like to continue but efforts should be made to make it difficult for them. Going to work to just sign in and sign out without doing anything will need to be tackled too. Once appropriate technologies are used and payrolls synergise with presence and rather than alone, they won't survive. You will then be surprised that the government will have more than enough to pay living wages.
It doesn't make sense to just allocate salaries like the picture NLC seems to have put up, people should be paid well but based on numbers of hours they work and every party will be happy. Let the government make it a law and you will see how it will change every sector of the economy.

You can't see the sinister motive behind this so-called salary increase at this time when they are pushing for a new minimum wage? The FG has no plans to increase the minimum wage according to workers' demand so they are giving them an abysmal percentage increase as hush money to quell any form of agitation.

It's disheartening, insensitive and demoralising in the face of the current hardship being experienced in the country. The Nigerian worker deserves more, subsidy on fuel and electricity has been removed and you add what cannot cover for the consequences in increase in cost of transport and payment of electricity.

This is not the New Wage we're talking about. This is salary increase. The new minimum wage negotiation is still ongoing. NWC is not to force wages on workers. Wage is negotiated and it's effective from 1st April and not 1st January.
chukadiho1(m): 9:53am On May 01, 2024
I understand the sinister motive too. But the FG can't back out on the new minimum wage implementation. What I feel is with this increase they want to tune down the amount to be approved for the new minimum wage.

Minimum wage cannot be #45k. Already govt had realized that #30k can't get anything so it added #35k so automatically the minimum wage has become #65k.
