I'm going to Brno.

You could get a train or bus from Prague to Brno. However I see the flights to Vienna are cheaper so it makes sense to use that route than going to Prague.

Sorry I can’t help with the visa question.

Hi great people, please can a visa holder buy and hold stocks and shares? Will that be perceived as a form of trading or investment? Also, if one can and the dividend exceed £500 does it mean one has to file a tax return (will this then become a business?)?

Will appreciate your responses. Thanks

- Does this visa holder, have a national insurance number......
- Buying stock and shares, is classified as a form of trading/investment
- You have tax efficient ways of buying stocks/shares.... Simply open an ISA , you can invest £20,000 per tax year (free of taxation)......
- If you open a GIA, you would be expected to pay tax, over any capital gains above £500.00.........
- Trading is indeed a form of business, some investors receive over £1500 dividends payout monthly........🤣😁

H Everyone, I recently got an offer from my company, licensed to sponsor a skilled worker visa, as a Finance Business Partner. The salary is higher than 38,700 but while they were trying to apply for my COS, they noticed there is no code for ant. Was the SOC list changed recently? Is it that companies can no longer sponsor ants?

Would appreciate responses please.

The economic reality right now is different from those times. How will the UK government subsidize uni education to ensure absolutely free costs right now?

In , income tax is higher than in the UK, on top of that income tax, they still pay statutory solidarity surcharge tax. How many people in the UK will happily pay this when they’re already groaning about how much tax they currently pay?

So if UK is to model ’s way, who will bear the brunt?

It's neither practicable nor economically sustainable now. One major constraint now is population growth - more people seeking/eligible for university education. Those countries still giving education for free would eventually change in the foreseeable future.

Just 2k. Another nationality (which I shall not mention 💀) in his position would have charged 40k 💀.

Stones... But there's no market without a willing buyer, that's part of the problem.

It’s still there under 2421 - Chartered and Certified ants.

2421 is the occupation code for ants. You need to earn the standard going rate of £46,800 to be eligible for sponsorship. However, if you have been on a skilled worker visa prior to 4th April, then you can be sponsored using the lower going rate which is £33,900.

If the pay for this role is below £46, 800 and you were not on a skilled worker visa prior to 4th April, your employer could consider using 4124-Finace Officers, and you qualified for sponsorship since the pay is higher than 38,700.

Sometime last year before this recent review, I know an employer that used s manager occupation code for a qualified management ant role because the going rate for manager was lower.

Hi,

Thank you Lexusgs430.

Yes the visa holder has a national insurance number and why do you ask please?

I’m confused about your second point please. Does this mean a tier 2 visa holder MUST not buy and hold shares outside an ISA?

Speaking of ISA, can a tier 2 visa holder open a LISA and receive benefit of the £1K for every £4K saved towards buying their first home? Is that seen as receiving public funds?

What’s GIA please?

Lastly, so opening a trading 212 invest and buying and holding stocks outside an ISA is a form of business as you may have to complete a tax assessment once the dividend exceeds £500? Before it does, is it still safe to buy and hold?

Hi Zahra29,

Thanks for the comprehensive analysis and breakdown. Yes, it all makes sense now.

Thanks again.

Zahra29:

Ah ok, you don't qualify as a new entrant as you're the dependant but your spouse does

Every occupation has its standard going rate. Some going rates are higher than £38,700 and some are less.

To qualify for a skilled visa, the salary offered must be the greater amount. So for your occupation code, £38,7000 is greater than the standard going rate of £30,960 so this is what the job must pay to be sponsored. It basically means that 38,700 is the minimum. Some occupation codes have standard going rates as high as £50 - 60k - which is what the role would have to pay to be sponsored.

I hope this makes sense.

To the bolded, one of the conditions of a sponsor license is the employer is required to select the most appropriate/closest matching SOC code based on the job duties of the proposed role. Otherwise most employers would just select a lower rated SOC code and pay less.

Most Finance officer roles have lower level duties than a Finance Business Partner. Is the OP happy for their responsibilities to be watered down to fit a Finance Officer job description? Or rather, this is an opportunity for HR to ensure his/her salary is inline with the going rate if it isn't already.

My point was, because an insurance company gives me a cheap quote, does not mean OP would also get a cheap quotation from the same insurance company .........

Also, is that a violation of the visa rule?

I’m happy Rishi is trying to get those on benefits back to work. They have become very lazy and over relying on this benefits and I think it’s unfair to migrants who pay taxes/ IHS with no recourse to public funds.

Just say it’s unfair period. British people also pay taxes and some of them are not eligible for benefits due to earning high wages. They also have private health insurance so never use the NHS but they’ve been paying national insurance contribution for donkey years.

The system is unfair to the working population irrespective of whether they are British or immigrant.

Well thesame benefit is costing the government a lot and some councils are going bankrupt .They should get back to work and pay into the system, why is that hard for some of them to do?

Maybe I should just mind my African business.
