I have this strong belief that the unity of Nigeria is holding down the South West. If the three regions of North, East and West is allowed to become independent countries, the West will leave other regions behind in many areas.
Though i agree the East may do well in business (economy) while the North will do well in agriculture..
The West will survive in all indices
No doubt. People, and we know who will object the most, can argue till blue in the face but the only region of Nigeria capable of evolving a "brain economy" is the SW.
Emotional health, calm cognition, amiable disposition towards others, predisposition to amicable solutions provisions ( we all see the North and SE lack with how they casually embrace terror and murder) plus exemplary tolerance for ethnic/religious/cutural differences are the main "brain economy" advantages of the SW.
SS, SE and even North can brag about oil, gas agriculture respectively but if your human resources is worthless then you will essentially be a pariah nation/region like the DRC that is one of the richest nations in the world in of natural and mineral endowment yet is very poor and underdeveloped today.
I laugh when people claim the SW will struggle the most if Nigeria divides because of the ignorant perception the region lack natural, mineral and material endowment in comparison to others.
Not only does the SW possess huge and untapped mineral, climatic, geographical and material resources to make her one of the richest and most successful region in Nigeria but, crucially , she possesses
the human resources, with the right temperament and advantageous skills, to get the best out of the himan and material resources mix.
The reality of Nigeria today proves it. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10917588/#:~:text=The%20brain%20economy%20is%20primarily,to%20navigate%20increasingly%20complex%20systems.

If you are Ibo, you are not wise.
You simply wrote all these thesis to give them the reason why the SE will continue to be locked up in Nigeria.
If they SE will suffer after break-up, it is only wise to agree with them, so they swallow their lies and break-up in country in the hope that you will suffer. Is that not you have always wanted.
Wisdom is seriously a scarce commodity. Tufia!
Lies
Are you are aware there has been a coordinated campaign to depict SE as unproductive, poor, and backward for a longtime as part of psychological warfare against Biafra agitation.
And several of our people are falling for that.
Our job as Ndi Igbo is to counter their Propaganda and properly inform our people and future generations that all those things are lies.
Nigeria media is making people to believe that SE is the unsafest region in the South, but stats show otherwise.
They it seems that Ogun is doing better economically than all SE states, but Imo GDP is over 1.5x bigger than Ogun GDP.
They make it look like SE is bush, yet stat show that SE is even more urbanized than SW.
If we have given in to their Propaganda, would our people have known that Imo alone controls 2/3 of Nigerian onshore gas reserve and it's $4.2 billion two ANOH gas plants is worth more then the GDP of Ogun.
Due to Nigeria media misinformation, people always believe that SW is more educated than SE, that's only trade our people know, but the latest stat shows that SE leads in literacy rate while SW come distant third.
Tell your stories or people will do that for you, and they won't be nice when they do.

Just look all over the world, where do you see Igbos making it?
No other place will wholly take the infractions of the Igbos as Yorubas have.
They are benefitting a great deal from one Nigeria.
I look forward to the day when each region will be on its own. Enough of these insults. The Ibos are all over Southwest. Their homeland is populated almost entirely by Ibos. In the SW you have some states having just about 80% indigenous people. That means the SW has too many Ibos and other tribes than any other regions. But these fools will translate that data wrongly that the Yorubas have moved to Lagos.

Did you forget that you were able to bounce back through southwest after the civil war.
OfficialAPCNig:
Explain how the SW will do better than other region? that if Nigeria divides today, the economic monopoly SW enjoys as Nigerian commercial city will be broken.
First, you'll depend on the ND for crude, SE for processes gas, and North for food and agricultural products. The bulk of Nigerians non-oil revenues come from custom, 70% of imported cargoes in Nigeria terminates in the East, so that revenue source will be seriously affected.
Already, SE has the highest percentage of richest household population, the most literate population, lowest number of out of school children, and urbanization. Again, Lagos is a trading powerhouse and people from the eastern part of the country dominate that sector.
If you remove Lagos, SE has the largest regional economy (Imo is the largest state economy after Lagos and Anambra is the largest non-oil state economy) and if you add Igbo lands in Rivers (the third largest state economy) and Delta (the fourth largest state economy), the economy will be far bigger than SW's.
For me, I don't think SW will do better than SE.
If SE that survived a bloody war and still catch up and leapfrog SW despite all the monopolies the region enjoys, I don't see an independent SW doing better than an independent SE. The only people that will even rival SE is an independent North, if they put their acts together.
Kano alone does #20 billion daily trade volume and key to controlling trade in the sub-sahara.

The oil discovery is what taking each region down. Before the discovery of oil it has been cocoa and groundnuts and it's time to know that all regions will go back to their roots and business will move as well.. The SW will be the most beneficiary of the whole thing, the south and north are not so allied like the SE and SW. The north will rather do business with the SW than the SE. The SE will rather do business with the SW than the North and this will develop the SW rapidly. There are so many resources than can be gotten in the south west but was not discovering because we're all enjoying the oil money... All regions will do well and that's the solution to Nigeria's problem
The availability of ports in Lagos and potential for another port in Ondo are advantages also. Then the banking system is almost entirely controlled from the SW. The foundation is laid already. The North and SE will suffer the most. The Ibos made the mistake of putting too much of what they have outside iboland while allowing deadly nonstate actors like ESN and ipob to put down roots.

What is this one saying?
Ibadan was more developed than Lagos at that time even with the Nigerian capital situated in Lagos.
(The Whites just provided for themselves what they needed to milk Nigeria dry.)
All of the above and more due to the ingenuity and hardwork of the Yorubas.
Ibadan not Lagos has the first skyscraper 21 storey building in West Africa.
First newspaper with its building.
First television with its buildings and infrastructures.
First radio with all its paraphernalia.
First Olympic stadium.
The first high commission building in UK.
First industrial estates which Lagos State and Nigerians are benefiting from now.
The list seems endless.
All of these were done mostly within 5-6 years.
A lot of your people were fleeing to Ibadan then.
As for diaspora, name just one company owned by an Igbo man either dead or alive abroad.
I can name 10 Yoruba companies in Europe and USA.
Yorubas have companies established more than 120,100,90 etc years ago and still kicking..
.Please, name one Igbo company in Nigeria that has been able to stand up to just 35 years.
There's has never been a time in history after the white people came that Ibadan has bee more developed than Lagos.
Lagos in 1960 is still more developed than Ibadan of today
Are you 7 of what?
The 21 storet building thing is jargons, Port harcourt does not have a 21 storey building yet but port Harcourt is still more developed than Ibadan today.
The fact that Ibadan had a 21 storey building long before any city but still cannot compete with some Nigerian city in of economy and aesthetics should be a cause of concern for you.
It still justifies my initial point, if Ibadan is getting the type of money Lagos and Abuja is getting via their status, do you think that Ibadan will till be this shitty?

I listen to unrealistic analysis here and there
The truth is Niger Delta remains the richest region in Nigeria and serves as treasure base of the nation with port Harcourt its capital and commercial city......Nigeria keep playing the politics to keep using Niger Delta oil and gas to enrich Lagos and the entire country. However Lagos can survive on its own and can take care of the entire southwest region.
NLNG alone can take care of the entire Niger Delta not to mention moving back all the IOC headquarters to the Niger Delta.
Nigeria can’t play this politics for too long.
